  1. Hi i'm new to this forum. I'm in the market for an IS 350. i was hoping to get some idea of prices people have gotten. Also, i'm probably going to lease this car and it would be really helpful to know what kind of lease deals people have gotten. Anyone in the los angeles area? any dealers here better than others? thanks in advance for your help.

Well, I seriously doubt you'll have ANY price leverage with a lease. The supply of IS350's is very tight and dealers know it. I suspect whatever lease deal they offer will be what you'll get.

If going to buy an IS350, seems the deals range from $1000-2000 off the sticker price....although the people getting $2000 off seem to have a connection.

    Good Luck!

  2. I have an IS350 with dedicated 18" wheels and and Pirelli Snowsport Winter tires and live in Canada. I drove 20Km to work and back and everywhere I wanted to go all of last winter with absolutely no problems. I preferred normal mode to snow mode, because sometimes a little wheel spin was better than killing the power to the rear wheels. With the standard summer tires the car would not even make it up the drive way.

Thanks, that's the response I was looking for! I think I'll just get a set of Winter tires if that works for short distances. I'm not planning on driving the IS350 in snow, I just want to make it home if it snows while I'm at work....only about 12 miles.

I'm concerned because I once owned a Pontiac Trans-Am that was completely WORTHLESS in snow. This car being similar horsepower, weight and RWD as the IS350, I was very concerned.

  3. I see a lot of cars with bubbles on their tinted windows. Is that inevitable, bubbles always pop up after a few years?

    Thanks,

Those are hack jobs. I've had several quality tints done and they last for years and years. A good job will never bubble, the worst thing that can happen is scratches.

Bourne33065, many thanks for taking time to answer my question! How do you clean tinted windows, with the usual windows cleaning spray?

Never use window cleaner on tint! Every tinter I've asked says a weak solution of "Lemon Joy" is best. I use that, then I use just water to get any soap residue off.

  4. So would this mess up the car at all, and if so how badly?

This is how my friend was trying to tell me to drag race to get better times: while the people in front of you are lining up at the light, put left foot on the brake and floor it(with traction control off) until you get the tires to smoke

and then when you are at the light, left foot on brake and give it gas with the right just enough to the point it wants to move

and then floor it and release break on the green

and u will pull great times

    tires get hot...they get sticky

and you laucnh off the line with more power

How bad is this for the tires and any other parts of the car? And would it REALLY improve times THAT much? Thanks for the advice

I mean couldn't I just floor is with the power button on? Oh yea and just to make it clear this would be on a track and not on the street.

That's pretty much SOP. Doing a little burnout also cleans the tires. However all of those things are going to cause extra wear and tear on all the parts involved. It comes down to how many times you're going to do it. If you haven't raced before, you ought to practice those launches in an open parking lot. Racing the car a few times probably won't cause undue wear. Doing it every weekend will sooner or later make junk out of it.

    What is SOP?

    Standard Operating Procedure.

Junk indeed, it will start costing you money pretty quick.

Also, if you decide to run down the strip, don't wait until the light is green to mash the gas. Do it at the last yellow light or you'll get a bad RT (reaction time) which will increase the quater time.

  5. The Phaser does NOT work. Car and Driver tested it years ago...it's garbage. As said before, active jammers are illegal due to FCC regulations. However, you can LEGALLY jam LIDAR since it's optical and not regulated by the FCC.

How do you jam LIDAR (laser)? I've looked into it...a lot....lmao. What you need is an extremely bright light source, off road lights would work pretty well. Then you can buy from most any military surplus store, IR light covers. The military put these over their lights for night time ops...they will only allow infra-red light to pass. All visible light is blocked. This will render ANY laser unit completely inoperable until you drive by.

Since the vast majority of law enforcement is now using LIDAR, this is probably the best setup one could use.

  6. Glad to see they fixed the tires.

I've also heard that Lexus is good with filling tanks or offering gas cards if customers are not happy with the service visit.

Balise in Springfield is the dealership I will be visiting next as well.

I'm done with Northborough....and the monkeys who work there. ;)

Yea, they filled the tank....but I bet they didn't use PREMIUM as recommended by Lexus.

  7. Well, we do get snow every year here in Cincinnati. I own a Moutaineer SUV with AWD, so it's not like I'm screwed in the snow...but....I could have the IS350 at work and it snows. I'll have to drive it home, I just wondered how screwed I'd be. I hate to buy snow tires for just a few times that I'll get caught at work. I was mainly wondering how bad it will be to hobble home in a few inches to snow.
