My oil is running about a quart low. I use 5-30 mobile 1 synthetic. I have no more mobile one but do have about a quart of Pennzoil full synthetic 5-30 that my brother has left over. I plan to change my oil (6K) in a couple of weeks. Is it OK to use the Pennzoil since it is the exact same type of oil and weight except a different brand?

I have had the Michelin Primacy for about a year on my 2000 Es 300 and hands down they are the best tires I have owned. I used to use the energy series but they lasted only about 30K miles. These are rated for 60K miles and after driving 20K they do have 2/3 tread depth left. They are on the pricey side but well worth it. Excellent, excellent tires. Firm, smooth ride with little noise and excellent control

Replacing the latch unit can be time consuming and frustrating. I've done a lot of them in the restoration shop where I work from time to time. The $300 quote from the dealership is mainly for the time it takes to pull the interior door panel, diagnose the problem, take out the old latch assembly, replace the new one and reinstall the panel again. The panel is not the problem. The latch assembly replacement is fiddly and frustrating because you can't see well inside the door, and the clips and control rods to the latch and lock are hard to get at, because there is so little space to work. Find a wrecked car for the parts if you like, and you may well find that a Camry for the same years might use the same latch. Good Luck!
The thing that happened was that I had just left work with an armful of stuff. I opened the drivers side rear door and heard something like glass breaking and stuff falling from somewhere towards the bottom of the door. I looked on the ground to see if anything had fallen, shrugged my shoulders and closed the door. The door would not close and I concluded that something had broken in the lock assembly and had fallen to the bottom of the door. The window works fine. The quote from the dealer was $140 parts, $160 labor and shop costs. If this is a tricky fix, I wonder if I should eat the $160 and let the dealer(Toyota, not Lexus - same part from Camry, I know the asst. service manager that I deal with and he is no BS and fair) worry about it. If something doesn't work, I can take it back and have them fix it right. I personally am not crazy about having to take off the panel.

Hi
I have an 2000 ES 300, Platinum Edition 60K miles.. My front cup holders broke. How do I replace?
I have the same exact car and problem. I would like to replace them as well.

The door lock assembly on the rear passenger door is broken. It won't catch when you close the door. There is no tension like the other side so I know this has to be replaced. How hard would it be as a do-it-yourself project? Dealership wants $300 to fix. Any possible solutions in the meanwhile to keep door closed?(2000 ES 300)

I have a 2000 ES 300 w/112,000 miles. I had been meaning to get the timing belt changed and jumped at the chance when I found out that my local Toyota dealer was running a special for this service. I paid $256 total. I was told that seals, water pump, fluids, etc. looked to be in great shape and that they could not find anything mechanically that could be a concern.

I have a 2000 ES 300 and am going to buy a set of the new Primacy MXV4. I am leaning towards the H rated tires and am wondering if the V rated might be a better choice. Opinions ?

I have noticed a groaning and creaking sound that is coming from the steering column whenever I turn left or right. I have been hearing it for a while. It disappeared this week-end only to return mon. morning(it figures).
It is driving me crazy! Any ideas on what it is and how to fix it? I have a 2000 ES 300 w/88K miles.

The motor mount itself is cracked and leaking. I will try the Camry part and let ya''ll know how it went.
Thanks for the help.

I have a 2000 ES300 that needs have to have the front motor mount(not dog bone) replaced. I have a rough idle(for a Lexus) and I can see it leaking. Would the same motor mount from a 2000 V6 Camary be the same? They each have different part numbers, but look identical.
I can get a used camary motor mount for $45, dealer wants for new - $167 Toyota, $178 Lexus. This looks like a relatively easy DIY.

That is the overdrive solenoid. It could be plugged with debris or the tranny is falling apart. You dont have to remove the valve body to replace it. I have attached a picture of the valve body and S4 solenoid that you need to check out. Cant add an attachment. Email me and I can send you the pic.
Thanks mehullica. E-mail me at: southlex@your-mail.com
I appreciate the help and hope that your pic helps me. By the way, when I moved my car a while ago, no warning lights were being displayed

I have a 2000 ES 300 with 68,000 miles and never any problems. The check engine light as well as the Trac Off light both came on. I got the code which is P0768 shift solenoid D circuit electronic.
What is this problem? Is it readily repairable? Where is this solenoid located and can I fix it myself? Thanks for your attention.
