  1. The following website shows it as a "DE3175" or "DE3175LL" (long life) but confirm for yourself: http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide/

By "factory bulb" do you mean the same bulb brand that was installed at the factory?

An easy way is to pop off the lens cover, remove the old bulbs, and take them to an auto parts store to match them up with the bulbs on the display rack -- unless you think the wrong bulb types are currently installed.

Yeah I switched them out a while ago for LED so I don't have the factory bulbs. Thanks for the info.

  2. Sorry, but I don't buy it. This really feels like we're being Trolled. No one spends $20K on a salvage car, sight unseen, uninspected. No one.

Unfortunately I disagree with you- it's called "ASIBED". I wish for his sake he was a troll, but after spending my life in automotive work I have seen it all. Every dealer prays for customers like this (though I know he didn't buy it at a dealer). Just not knowledgable about the automotive field. MOST people overpay for a car. If you don't believe it, take a car for a test drive and stop by your local Carmax store and see what they offer you for it (not knowing that you don't own it, you're only taking it for a test drive). On average, probably half what you are contemplating paying for it. Sophistication in auto purchasing is not a strong point for MOST people.

What does it mean to "Troll"?

    Thanks

    Great irony! Two thumbs up!

No really you guys what does it mean? Don't make fun of me mccldwll some people are new to this internet talking thing. :)

b1261 = Solar Radiation Sensor Circuit Short To Ground ? ikes. What are driving space shuttles!! lol

  4. Anybody knos how to lock the central diff?

I do some offroading and sometimes I need to lock the central diff -even partially- to get more traction.

Sometimes to get more traction I use the snow swtich and L. I do not know if SNOW locks the centrl diff or not. Any ideas? Any information? My Lexu dealer is even more lost than I.

Any way to do it? I imagine that I will need to do some moficiation or even installing a switch, as the traction and transmission is controlled electronically.

    Any help will be appreciatted.

You cant lock them and even the traction ETC Snow just start the car in 2nd gear. I think you should have bought a GX or LX. Anyways what year do u have? The first gen 97- 2003 and 07- Present has the best AWD drive from what I hear. Mine and other 04-06 RX have the bad AWD bc Lexus got cheap or something like that. But what I am sure of is NO lock differential and ETC snow just start the car in 2nd gear. Thats it very basic

  5. I ACCIDENTALLY TRIED TO INSTALL A NEW BATTERY BACKWARDS. THE CAR HORN BLOWS WHEN I TOUCHED THE CABLE TO THE POST. I THEN CORRECTLY INSTALLED THE BATTERY AND STARTED THE CAR RIGHT UP. NOW I HAVE NO DASH LIGHTS OR GAUGES, THE A/C, RADIO, SEATS, WINDOWS, SUNROOF, AND BLINKERS DO NOT WORK, AND SHIFTER WONT MOVE OUT OF PARK. I HAVE LOOKED INSIDE AND UNDER THE HOOD FOR A BLOWN FUSE. I CAN'T FIND ANY BLOWN FUSES. WHERE IS THE BLOWN FUSE FOR ACCESSORIES??????????????????

the gear shift should still work; I don't know why its nots, but if you remove the plastic rectangle of the upper left you should be able to over ride the transmission.

  6. After months searching over the internet for information how to change my RX330 lisence plate light. I tumbled into this link which show you how to replace them. It a luxury car which i didn't want to do anything before i have solid information. SO here is the link, hope it help!

    http://rides.webshots.com/album/554082094tcIhLR

that looks hard, I want to put LEDs in their like on the new Lexus's. Is it just me or does anyone else miss the days when changing a light bulb meant using a philips head and some Wd to loosen the screws.

  7. I need a cabin filter and I would like to purchase the one that cleans the best. I looked online, but i only find deals on filters. I don't think an $11 will work. What brand catches the most impurities?

My requirements is that it fits a 2004 Lexus RX330 and costs less than 100.

    Thanks

  8. The top nut and thread are the usual right hand type. The bottom nut and thread are left-handed thread. Hold the middle nut in place that is welded to the shaft (hold with a wrench or vice-grips) and then loosen the top and bottom nut - remember the bottom nut is left-handed thread so will loosen the "wrong" way. Back both top and bottom nuts off at least 1/2 inch.

Then use the middle nut to screw the top shaft into the top receptacle thus shortening it. That would be clockwise if looking from the nut and along the shaft. Since the bottom thread is left handed it will shorten the bottom as the top thread shortens. Tighten the two nuts and that is it.

Measure the distance between the end nuts before you start and write it down. Then measure the distance after the adjustment. The measured distance between the nuts should be about 1 inch less. In other words, the nuts are closer by 1 inch.

Look at the picture again at the bottom of the first page of this discussion. (Click on it to make it larger.) You can see the threads and the direction they need to travel to shorten the shaft. Also the direction the end nuts need to turn to travel toward the center of the shaft and thus be loosened. The nuts on each end are only there to lock in the adjustment after you are finished !Removed! in the shaft to make it shorter.

No tape is needed. LexKid used it because he took off the whole assembly and just taped the adjusting arm to the frame in the position that he wanted. Don't use that technique.

thanks I will give it try sometime this week. Thanks alot really

  9. I wouldn't recommend doing what LexKid did unless you are an accomplished mechanic.

There is a picture of the adjusting lever in the last post of page 1 of this thread. Loosen the nuts on each end of the center shaft. Then turn the center shaft with the center welded nut to make the thread area shorter (one thread is left handed). Tighten up the two end nuts and you are done.

My center shaft was adjusted about an inch shorter to make the correct headlight alignment. Be sure to check the alignment pre and post adjustment on a wall with tape at the top of the line of light. If drivers flash their lights at you at night then there is a problem and the shaft should be made longer.

The nuts are metric. The end nuts are 11 mm and the middle one is 10 mm if I remember correctly. Adjustable small wrenches would work also. A vice-grip could be used on the center nut if it is hard to turn or won't hold still while you loosen the two end nuts. Soaking the nuts and threads with WD-40 or some other penetrating lubricant first will help.

I didn't find the work space "tiny" at all so I hope we are talking about the same thing. Asking if a lift is needed but stating that you already tried to adjust the lever makes me suspicious that some communication is lacking.

No lift is needed depending on your size. Driving the passenger side rear wheel up on a 2x6 piece of wood will give a bit more room. Driving it up onto a curb will give lots of room for the adjustment.

A floor jack or even the Lexus jack is nice because the wheel droops down and the adjusting lever is somewhat more accessible. Be sure to use jack stands if you use this method.

Thanks for the quick reply. So I take the two 10mm wrenches and turn them together in the opposite direction to loosen them.

Then turn the center nut. Should I turn it to the left or right? Do I want it to move the center washer so it ends up being higher or lower when compared to its original position.

Last question do I need tape?

ps. I was asking about the jack, because when I got under the craw I hand like no room; so I wasn't sure if this job needed it to be lifted.

    Thanks

  10. There's nothing you can do as far as bulb replacement, for the problem is the unit not the bulb. It's not actually a "problem" it's just the way lexus made them. You know how, when you start the car, the headlights move up and down (along with left and right) ? This is the auto-leveling system. Under the car, on the right rear control arm, there's a little "lever-like" piece of metal that's attached to a sensor. If you have a lot of weight in the rear of the car etc, the control arm pushes down (or something), and ends up moving the lever. This tells the car, to angle the headlights down (for the front of the car would be angled up at this point) so oncoming drivers don't get blinded. If you remove the bolts holding this lever-sensor assy. together, and move the lever with your hands you can basically control the angle of the headlights yourself. Find the position you like, and wrap it up with some duct tape etc. I did it on my rx300; i'm assuming it will be the same for the rx350.

I actually did some serious wiring and brought the sensor in the cabin area so i can change the angle of the headlight beam from the drivers seat! The only thing is, you can only change the angle while at a very low speed. If i move the switch at a high speed, it won't actually work until i slow down. I think every lexus should have a manual switch in the cabin!

Can you post a picture and actual instructions on how to do it? I tried twisting the lug not, but the hole stock twists and pliers can't fit in that tiny space. How did you do it?

    Do I need a lift? I don't have one.

  11. There is an air duct inside the cavity to replace the fog light but I cannot determine how the piece is attached. Anyone out there replace their left fog light and what did you do to remove this duct piece? The right fog light area does not have this duct piece so you can just reach up and replace the light.

Yours should be underwarranty repair. I have an 04 and they covered the rear lower bumper marker light under warranty. So I pretty sure yours should be covered too!!!

  12. Yes you are right.

    It works amazing.

    No beep, beep, beep...........................................................

Do you have an answer to the tailgate beeping?

    And also to the Nav?

    Faithfully in your debt,

Thank you very, very very much.............

tailgate beeping can be configured by the dealer via Lexus Personal Settings. Does anyone know if you can turn this feature on in a 2004 RX330?

  13. Most people use forums to ask questions or get advice. And these matter usually involve problems. I like my RX, but if you only read my posts on this and other forums then would think I don't like my RX. The fact is the opposite. Like all cars there are things which I wish are better, but there are things which are great and we just don't post about it. For example, I like how the steering wheel tilts away, or the Lexus door sills that light up. I never posted how I liked those, but I have posted why I can't adjust the intensity or why can't you have the wheel tilt away before you take out the key. .

  14. 2004 Lexus RX330: Turn Seat Belt Chime ON?

The seatbelt chime rings when you start the car like on all cars, but I know some newer Lexus RX and other cars also chime while underway if the seatbelt is unfastened or never fastened in the first place. Is it possible and how to turn on this feature of a 04 Rx? I forget to buckle up often because I start on small local street and end up on the interstate. Thanks

  15. What is the Top Speed of a Factory 98 Lexus ES300 with factory All Season Tires? ex If I was to hold the pedal down on a level surface. Is there a Limiter on Lexus cars like the European ones which have one 155mph?

Also the o-60 times and RPM's would be a nice touch. Remember I am asking about a factory one not one with turbos, etc for my main question.

I am sure someone asked this already, but every time I search the forum I am told I need to type in 4 letters.

    Thanks

How fast have you gone in your ES? Please specify year and if yours is factory or has mods plz

    Thanks

  16. I have a 2000 Lexus ES300. I recently changed the rear hubs with bearings but kept the original brake pads. The traction-off light turned on after that and hasn't turned off since. Does anyone know what this issue could be?

I could be that you have a low battery that was what happened on my 98 ES. But it is probably it is that to tire size changed and it may need to be recalibrate. On my other car when I changed to winter tires the VSC would not turn on. That my best guess.

    good luck

  17. Your accessory belt is slipping .

also this can happen in park. the bird chirp sound only last for less than 30 seconds and does not always happen. How do I check accessory belt and how do I stop it from slipping?

    checking my records

Back 5000 miles ago and on 6/23/06 I had according to my Lexus dealer receipt "Replaced All Drive Belts" and Belt, Vane Pump as well as Belt, v Alternator this was all don at 77647 miles. The car now has 82500.

Is it time to get the belts replaced again?

Do any one know how to stop this from happening as it is somewhat embarrassing? Also should I put anything on it?

    Thanks
