For the 04+ RX's, you need the dealer to program them- you can't "just hold down this" and "pull this 5 times" doing it yourself in the garage like you could with an older Rx300. I guess Lexus caught on to people doing this to save money, so they redesigned the keys.

You can simply buy a use remote from ebay and ask the dealer to use their computers to reprogram it to your car. <_<

I only have one remote for my wife's 2006 RX330. I called the dealer and got sticker shock when they told me $260 for the key and remote and an additional $65 to program it. After doing some research I've been led to believe I need a certain FCC ID for my vehicle, or can I just purchase an new remote with an uncut key on EBay? I did this with my 99 GS300 and had no problems. Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

The body shop called yesterday and said they stopped adding up the damage at $10K. The book on it is around $11K on the high side (99 model). Exactly what you said, the frame rail on the right side is bent, the shock tower got pushed back about .75 of an inch. He's going to contact my insurance company tomorrow, so they'll have the final say.

It must be catching. I totaled mine on Friday.

Below is straight from the Amsoil website. A friend of mine has been using the stuff for about 12 years, has over 200K on his Ford truck and over 150K on his wifes volvo and they still run like new. I've had no problems i.e. oil consumption, odd motor noise etc...

Normal Service(3) – Up to 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.

Severe Service(4) – Up to 15,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.

Replace AMSOIL Ea full-flow oil filter at the time of oil change up to 25,000 miles or one year service life, whichever comes first (other brands at standard OEM* intervals).

I changed my GS300 over to Amzoil at about 85K and have had no problems. As a matter of fact, it seems as if my engine actually got quieter. I change the filter every 3K and due a complete oil change at 12 months or 15K, whichever happens first. Good luck.

I've got a 98 GS300 recently i've had to deal with the check engine light and both VSC lights all coming on while losing all acceleration ability unless i completely floor the gas pedal.

The acceleration comes back to normal if i shut the car off then back on but the warning lights will all stay illuminated.

After getting a diagnostic check the codes read the Throttle Position Sensor has failure.

So a few hours ago i disassembled the Throttle Position Sensor which sits right on top of the engine, i cleaned it but theres no way to tell that its bad by looking at it.

I need to replace it with another TPS. too expensive from the dealer though.

any ideas where to get this part cheap?

I'm sure you already know Lexus parts aren't cheap. Search the forum, there's a member from Wisconsin that works at a Lexus dealership that will get you a discount. I just ordered my fron door lock actuators and he saved me about $54 per side.

I have a 99 GS300. How difficult is it to remove the door speaker covers? Mine need to be cleaned and I don't want to harm the speakers. Thanks.

I bought my 99 GS300 about 2 years ago. I was searching the web the other day and noticed an 04 or 05 GS300 that had a cover over the engine intake. Is this standard on all GS300's or just certain year models?

I have 99 GS 300. My ECT rocker switch on the lower console has no back lighting. How do you access the bulbs. I didn't see any way to remove the inside of the storage compartment under the arm rest. Thanks.
