  1. I have the same noise on my 1999 GS 300.  who knows what it is?  Let me know when you find out.  Thanks

You all sound like you're describing the typical Lexus creak/snap/pop sound that most of us have.

It happens for me and others predominately when you first start a car, pull out of a drive way or parking spot, start to pull away and within 10-50 feet you get that creak or snapping sound. It's just the Anti-lock doing their check upon initial movement.

Check and see that it doesn't happen at any time after that. If it does, then you could have a real problem.

(GuyTelefunken, I'm praying you don't jump in here and tell me I'm full of crap! :) lol! )

You know, I didn't even scroll down the page far enough to see the crack about me commenting on this post and I was ready to hit the reply. As you are a respected member of the forum, I'll be gentle :chairshot: You are aware there is no such "anti-lock check" right?

I too will be interested to hear if someone does figure out this particular problem. I think I've heard something similar in my car at some point in time.

Well it was definately an issue with my suspension. I'll find my receipt and tell you exactly wha tit was! But it's fixed now :)

  2. On my 98 Gs300, I'm getting a ridiculously dangerous sounding creek when I break to come to a stopand when I reverse and turn the wheel. I'm thinking that it could be my Control Arm Bushings. I'm planning to get the Daizen replacements to aviod buying the entire control arms. Are there any other possible parts that could be ont he fritz???

I'd like to put these on my 99 GS300.  I think they'd be a massive improvement in handling over the 16's I have now but 245 would probably be a better width.  To bid or not to bid, that is the question.  The 225's would still be wider than what I've got and I know the low profiles and W rated tires would whoop my H rated Firestone Affinity LH30s (balloons)...  What do ya think y'all?  I could keep the 16's handy for long road trips.

THAT TIRE IS MUCH TOO SMALL FOR THAT APPLICATION. THE MINIMUM TIRE I'D GO WITH ON THAT VEHICLE IS A 245/40/18. I THINK YOU WILL SACRIFICE HANDLING AND VEHICLE STABILITY WITH SUCH A SMALL TIRE. I NORMALLY INSTALL THAT SIZE TIRE ON HONDA ACCORDS AND ACURA CL'S. I HAVE A 93 SC400 WITH 18X8.5 ON THE FRONT AND 18X10 ON THE REAR. I RUN A 245/40/18 ON THE FORNT AND 275/35/18 IN THE REAR. THE HANDLING AND RIDE QUALITY IS EXCELLENT.

definately go with 245/45/18 for the GS.

  4. I had the same problem on my GS when I first got it from the dealer. I bought a used on with 70k on it. It drove great for 3 weeks and then the same *BLEEP*...making a left turn...no pedal...VSC light on and Limited acceleration. Pulled over turned the car off, took the key out, put it back in and got my pedal back. Found out that it was a factory recall and lexus will replace the sensor for free. (although, I did have to argue to get them to do it for nothing.) Search the recalls!
