  1. i have to say that the NAV on the Lexus rally blows compared to the Nuvi

no matter if I select Quick or Short, it always want to put you onto the highway.

My Nuvi always picks the best possible routes, I don't understand why the Lexus can't.

For example, yesterday I missed a turn due to the lack of intuitiveness of the Lexus nav and instead of telling me to make a u-turn,

it reroutes me around the friggin mountain to the otherside. I thought maybe it's a new route I didn't know about, it took an extra 5 minutes.

The Nuvi would've told me to make a u-turn.

    What's the deal?

It also doesn't tell me that it's rerouting.

Spending over 2K on a NAV that performs worse than my 200 NUvi is crap and yet when you buy a new car, it's always bundled together with other stuff you want.

    I'm sure many others agree.

    Sorry for the digression.

  2. i agree

next time i buy my Lexus, I'll go to whomever 06GS300Silver went to.

looks like his dealer can conjure a credit card key out of think air and BadBrad's salesperson can create an image of it.

all kidding aside, it's still a great car without this key.

i was looking into a bmw 550 or 335 turbo but with the issues they have been having with the turbo pumps, i'll wait for the next Lexus GS when they change the body. I can't wait!

  3. good thread. i don't feel that these issues are trivial at all, why settle.

not having an outlet on the dash is really dumb imo. WTF?

    to add to the list:

    - locking out people from the NAV functions while the vehicle is moving. BMW doesn't lock anyone out. At a minimum, they should allow the user to disable this feature. the grooves under the console where you're suppose to store umbrellas and water bottles will probably more of a threat.

    - the wide opening under the front bumper which can potentially allow something to damage the radiator (there's long thread on this)

    - not having a wallet key

    - not having an option to decline the NAV and still keep the other features (dealers only sell predefined packages, it's not like a Porsche where you can pick and choose)

other than that, so far it's a a much improved vehicle over my 2001 RX300

  4. i was asked a question that I couldn't answer

when you either press the lock button or touch that lock portion of the handle to lock the doors, it doesn't beep

how do you confirm that the doors are indeed locked?

i typically pull on my door handles to make sure it's locked before leaving, but with the new remote, it unlocks if you pull on the door handle.

    any ideas?

i told her to lock it and throw the remote 10ft away and check the doors =)

she didn't think it was funny

  5. i think that's a pretty good out the door price.

i think someone on this forum was able to get 300 over invoice. that's really low, especially for a 2010 model.

    Help Please:

I am working on the purchase of a 2010 RX AWD with (at present) selling price of: $45,571.00 and out the door price of

$46,271.00 (taxes and fees). I need to know if I should attempt any further reductions in price? MSRP: 47,750.00. I

need to close next week. Thank You in advance for any assistance.

  6. i was told by the dealer last year that the GX sells better and there will be a hybrid for it sometime in the future. He also said that the LX will be phased out, not sure if it's true, just what he told me.

I've heard that the GS450h owners aren't getting the MPG as advertised which makes it not worth it. Is there any truth to that? I would think that a hybrid is more beneficial to those that drive in the city where the battery gets used more as opposed to the highway.

What about battery maintenance. Every few years you'll need to replace all the batteries, pretty expensive maintenance.

  7. hi,

it's been a while since hybrids have been out for lexus.

is there any good info on going with a hybrid even with the extra upfront costs, costs of replacing batteries, and the lost of luggage space?

I'm considering a hybrid for the next lexus but luggage space is the largest concern as well as the overall balance of the vehicle.

    I'm considering both the RX450h and GX450h.

I hear the GX will be next in the line of hybrids while the LX will be phased out. Sorry if this is old info.

    thanks

    Jack
