  1. My dual climate control only blows heat from the passenger side. From my searches on the forum it looks like there is a servo motor that needs replacing. I even had the telltale signs of clicking coming from the glove compartment area. Can anyone shed any additional light regarding changing or diagrams to assist in doing so. I did find a DIY guide for a GS posted in 2008, but I thought I would ask to see if anyone had any other resources or advice.

    Thank you.

  2. My '93 ES300 with 290k miles was totaled last Friday when I was hit (almost head on) by a guy going the opposite way on an undivided four lane highway. He either had a flat or a front end problem and he could not control his 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. The car looks like I should be dead. I escaped with minor facial lacerations from flying glass. I haven't gotten the official verdict from his insurance company, but I'm sure it's totaled. I'm not looking forward to finding out how much they are going to give me for it. I loved that car. It burned a quart of oil about every 1500 miles, but besides that it was perfect (obviously the LED needles in the dash didn't work).

Some numbers: purchased in July of '97 with 37k miles for $16,000. I put in 3 timing belts, 1 clutch, 1 distributor, only changed the spark plug wires once, replaced a window regulator, had to pay Lexus $300 to fix an ABS sensor, had several seals and gaskets replaced, replaced 3 antennaes, and put $1,100 into the AC late last summer. I can't really think of any other major repairs including no muffler, alternator, starter, power steering pump, motor mounts, or even the thermostat.

At this juncture, I believe I am going to replace it with a 2004 ES330. It looks like I can get one with less than 40k miles (with Navigation and Levinson stereo) for around $22,000.

I really thought I would drive thar car forever. RIP. :cries:

  3. I just noticed I have lots of water in the floor of the back seat (driver's side) of my 1993 ES. We've had lots of rain, but I have not seen any water on the seat or anywhere else. A search of this forum finds another individual with the same problem on the passenger side. His post indicated that the dealer fixed his problem by cleaning the moonroof drains ($300). Does this sound like the same problem? If so, I would like to do this myself, does anyone know how? Thank you.

  4. My steering wheel was worn and I purchased a product called Wheelskins. It comes with a leather cover, leather stitching material, and a needle. It took me about 30-45 minutes to install. I was a little skeptical because the website picture looks kinda iffy, but it really looks and feels good. The Wheelskin web site price is $39.95 but I found it cheaper at another site. Just google wheelskins (all one word).

  5. I just had to buy a new antenna for my '93 ES300. The Lexus dealer wanted $80, the Toyota dealer $56, I purchased it from Autozone for $27. I haven't changed it yet but I assume it will work. Also, on Ebay they are offering the antenna mast for 19.95 plus shipping.
