  1. on the instrument panel a red circle with 2 broken lines on each side came on while driving and I dont have owners manual of do I have an idea of what it refers to.

According to my owner's manual, I believe it means that your brake pads are low and will need replacing soon.

I'm new to Lexus, but I did register on www.lexus.com in the owner's site as an owner. There, if you navigate around, you will find a link to order a FREE replacement owner's manual. Mine came in just 5 or so days just this week!!!!

I had the same warning "a red circle with 2 broken lines on each side came on while driving", I suspected that brake pads are low because it had been 4-5 years since that last replace.

I lost my owner's manual, thanks to the post above I had been able to order a FREE replacement owner's manual from Lexus.com.

    Great site !!!

  2. I suspect that most, if not all, early to mid-90's LS models leak coolant from this tank. The seal around the coolant level sensor is not adequate to handle the pressure that is generated within the tank when the hot coolant fills the tank capacity. The design people probably should have specified a pressure cap that would open at a lower PSI than the one that is on there, but that's hindsight. The expansion tank also should have been bigger.

Some folks on this forum have talked about trying to seal the level sensor better (epoxy, perhaps?). The danger in this, as I see it, is the possibility that the tank would rupture if the new seal is too good.

One thing that can be done to lessen the problem is to fill the tank (when cold) to a lower level than the lines call for. Make the level about an inch lower than the bottom line. This will give you more expansion room in the tank.

My expansion tank has 3 hair line cracks about 1/2" long around the level sensor, I used epoxy to seal the cracks and reduced coolant level to about 1"-1.5" below the lower level. I didn't see any coolant leak for several months after the fixes.

  3. My 1997 LS 400 high pressure power steering hose is leaking and the dealer wants $493.00 for a new one. Is there a parts house that stocks this type of part at a discount?

I bought 1994 LS400 Power Steering Pressure Hose from this guy (ABC Marts) on eBay for a little more than $100, it fit like OEM without any leak.

  4. Do front and rear seats from a '95-'97 LS400 fit into a '94 LS400 ? My '94 LS400 front seats are badly cracked, I had a chance to buy both front seats and rear seat in very good condition from a '97 for $400, but don't know if it will fit with minimum or no modifications.
