  1. I was wondering the same thing about the Lux. package being available on the 250. When I built a 250 on Lexus.com, it said that here in Texas I can't get the Lux. package, but then when I built one on any other website like Edmunds.com or msn autos, it says that I can get the Lux. package on the 250. After all this confusion, I finally went to the closest Lexus dealer to me and a sales rep. said that the Lux. package was available on the 250. I guess I'll find out when i go back to try and order one and see if the dealer can really order a 250 with the Lux package.

    We'll see.......

  2. When I was at the dealer, the manager was showing me the factory output for March/April.

There were a lot of Black and Smokey Granite, some Silver, Red and White, and only 1 or 2 of everything else.

In fact, I wanted to see a Breakwater Blue in person, and they only had one leaving the factory for those 2 months.

Still haven't seen one in person. :(

The last time I went to the dealer near me, I was surprised that they had a Breakwater Blue on their lot, b/c that was actually the color I wanted to see (that and SGM, which they had too). I was really impressed with the BBM, and I could really tell the difference between it and the silver color. Now the other color I really want to see in person is the dark blue. Ahh, so many choices.

  3. Let me start out by saying that I leased my current car, and I really like the idea of being able to get a new car every 3 years or so, so I would prob.l lease my next car. This would basicly mean that resale value of my next car is not an issue. And Cherokee Outlaw, you brought up a good point. I do see a lot of TLs on the road where I live too. I too want my car to stand out and I know the IS wouldn't disappoint, considering I've only seen 3 of them around my neck of the woods. This only sells me more on the IS. As for the Costco program, I am a Costco member already, which is good, so this program seems like it has the potential to help me a lot. Thanks for all your input everyone and keep it comming if anyone has something to say.

  4. It continues to impress me that I haven't heard or read many (in any) major complaints or problems with the IS that would be a factor in my decision. I fell in love with the car the first time I saw it, and when I saw how reasonably priced it was, I was even more in love. But then why am I still considering the Acura TL? Because I do have to face th efact that money is a partial issue. The TL offers an amazing package for the money, and along with the money the dealer would be willing to take off the MSRP. I just hope I make the right decision.

Silver, thank's for the tip about carbargains.com. I'll be sure to check that out. And David Redfearn, can you elaborate on the Costco program? Can anyone get it?

    Thank you

  5. Now I know that this thread is about the comparison is between the IS250 and the Acura RSX type-s, but IMO, a much better comparison would be between the IS250 and the Acura TSX. The TSX is a sedan like the IS, has 205 hp and 164lb-ft of torque, and is offered in a 5 spd auto, or 6 spd man. I'm not sure about the quarter mile, or 0-60 times of the TSX but I'm sure they're respectable. Now I don't mean to sound like an "Acura Lover", I'm just talking performance wise. The Lexus is a better car in a lot of other ways, performance aside. This all is just my 2 cents.

But hey Lexdiamonds, I hope you GF knows "how to drive" her RSX so she could put up a good race. LOL

  6. It's basically like any other automatic tranny. It will not select a gear higher than you have set via the lever/paddles. It's supposed to match engine speed when you down shift and that is unusual where automatics are concerned. Most just shove the gear and lock the clutches.

I know what you mean. I had a rental hyundai that had a 4 spd. manual shift mode on the tranny. When I would down shift, it wouldn't let the engine rev up to match the lower gear, causing a jerking motion. It was worthless IMO. The manual mode would have been more enjoyable if it had let the engine match the rpms of the lower gear.

  7. Thank's everyone for all your helpful input. I've read some things about the manual mode on the 6 spd. auto. on other forums and just wanted to see what ya'll had to say. When I test drove the IS, it was mostly in heavy traffic, so I wasnt able to use the manual mode. I'll be sure to try it out on my next test drive.

    Thanks again everyone.

  8. That's very good to know. I haven't heard too many complaints about the new IS. The main one I've heard is about a grinding nois when making u-turns annd stuff. Have you experienced that? And I know it's a minor question, but, correct me if I'm wrong, but the IS only has one cup holder in the front correct? Have you found this to be an annoyance or given this any thought?

  9. Last Friday I went to Lexus of Austin here in Texas and test drove a 250 auto trany because I just couldn't wait any longer, I love this car. I'm not ready to buy yet b/c the laese on my current car isn't up until the beginning of september. The salesman I talked to said that it was a good thing that I had a few months b/c that's when they usually have their end-of-year sale, but he had to have the car on the lot. He also said that if I let him know which model and options I wanted by around July, he could get the car for me and by the time I was ready to buy. I did'nt discuss price with him though, so i'm not sure how low he would be willing to go, but if he really wanted to sell me a car he'd make me a deal. I am interested in a 250 with the luxury package and 6spd auto.

By the way, how do ya'll like your IS?

  10. That's what I thought, that the HID lights weren't available on the 250, because of the asme reason, the lexus website did't say that the lux. package was available on the 250. This was until I finally went to the Lexus dealer near me and the guy there told me that the lux package was available on the IS 250.

  11. That's good to know. Here in Texas it gets pretty hot in the summer, wich obviously causes the leather seats to get very hot, so anything that will cool the seats would be appreciated. Speaking of the lux. package again, I think its pretty stupid that you have to get it to be able to get xenon headlights. But I guess the other things that come with that package make it worth the money over the premium package.

  12. That's why I asked. On the Lexus website, if you go to "build your IS250," it only says that the premium package is available with the 250, it doesnt have the luxury package as an option. On the home page though, for the IS under price/options it gives the luxury package for RWD or AWD it doesn't specify if it's the 250 RWD or the 350 RWD, or available on both. And on yahoo autos, if you build your IS250 on there, it says you can get the luxury package on the 250. So I just wanted to see if I could get some feedback from some people here and see if they could help me out.
