  1. you guys still haven't answered how often you wax the vehicles. unwaxed paint on any vehicle will fade. like Jim said... red will go faster than other colors but paint, like leather, needs to be cared for.

I've only had the truck for several months and have given it a wax job myself - I plan to take it to a professional detailer for consultation. I don't think it's bad paint. But the previous owner swore she's never noticed the fade in the upper tailgate area (but then again - I doubt if she washed it herself).

    Thanks again!!

  2. Never heard of the "throttle body spacer." There is a throttle position sensor (TPS) inside the throttle body that controls your acceleration. If it fails, you'll definitely know, as the vehicle won't accelerate properly (stalls, works okay sometimes, etc.). The FSM says to replace the entire throttle body unit, so I presume the sensor itself isn't available as a part, at least on '00+ vehicles. '98-99 LC's had a recall of their TPS, but I think the accelerators on those were still mechanical, not the drive-by-wire on the newer LX/LC's.

    Thanks, Jim...

  3. hi all:

I'm not mechanically inclined at all, well maybe a little but don't have the patience for anything that I may end up !Removed! up. I've been reading some posts regarding "throttle body spacer". Can anybody tell me what it is and when to replace it? How do I know it needs replacing?

    Thanks,

    Clueless

  4. 2000 LX470 116,500 miles, kept under cover. I have terrible paint fade on both the hood and the upper rear tailgate. Has/does anyone else had/have this problem? Thanks.

My LX has 58k miles and experiencing similar paint fading on the upper rear tailgate. Except when parked at the office mine is kept in garage or under car port as well. I don't think this is normal for a car this young. I have an 1984 Mercedes Benz 300TD station wagon and the original paint looks better than the shade of the Lexus' tailgate. I'm not sure if the dealer can do anything about it.

  5. 2000 LX with 92,000. Bought it two years ago. I've had to fix the ignition cylinder as well (ouch), and do the 90K service (double ouch)

I know what you mean, while at the dealership I asked the service rep how much for 60k miles service and was told $850.00. What exactly do they do to the car that it cost so much? They don't even replace the spark plugs until 120k....oh well.... :whistles:

  6. Wondering what mileage people have on thier LX

    Mine is a 99 LX470 with 90,000 miles

*i meant your instead of you

    ;) Mine is a 2000 LX470 with 57,900

Mine is a 2000 with 69,000 miles... but just today the check engine has come on so not sure what to think of that.. will contact the dealer on Monday

Mine is the same year (2000), with 57,900 miles but today had the CV Boots replaced both sides, antenna mast replaced and it cost $1.000 dolllars ouch.....have you had your boots replaced? I'm not too familiar with longevity of lexus boots.
