  1. Anyone driving a 330 '06 with transmission problems? My wife has an early 06 and her complaints are similar to what I've seen posted in this thread. It's been into the dealer a few times with much disbelief on their part, "never heard of anyone complaining about the transmission in this car..." Bottom line, she hates the car and I see this becoming very expensive. Any advice, help, suggestions appreciated. Thanks dbj

  2. Took delivery of my '06 Gx on 7/24/06. Just did the first oil change myself, but I'm wondering how the rest of you are avoiding the oil spill on the skid plate. Are you removing that assembly or is there an aftermarket sheild that fits in there to divert the oil away from the cage/plate assembly. If there isn't one available I'm going to fabricate one. I spent more time cleaning the bottom end than actually performing the change. Also I'm looking for a wrench that fits on the end of the filter so I can use a ratchet and an extension from outside the caged area due to limited space. Does anyone know some tricks that the Lexus Techs do to simplify this task?

    Thanks,

    Tim

i have a small basin that i put on top of the skid plate to catch the oil from the filter

I also tried the small basin but unfortunately without success and ended up with more oil on me then in the basin. I tried to remove the skid plate and was able to take out all of the screws but still couldn't remove it. There must be a hook holding everything on. I used a Wal-mart filter cap wrench that fits on a ratchet about $4.

  3. Have to say I'm no expert. I have a '05 with 13K. I'm not an aggressive driver. I've used both 87 and 91. Alternating about 3-4 weeks. Maybe I notice better acceleration with 91 but I don't notice any significant difference in milage. If anything, less with 91. Could that really be? If so, is better performance at the expense of less milage? I now consistently use 87 (Sam's) and average 17.5 m/g (that's the actuall average not what is recorded on the car computer which I find is consistenly 1.5 m/g higher.). That's mixed 50/50 city/highway.

  4. I purchased a 2006 for my wife replacing her '97 ES. Two complaints, a rear window reflection of the shelf behind the back seat and the sun deflector (when down). This is seen in all weather conditions and doesn't improve with a change in seat position. Also rides "very bumpy" after 20 mph compared to her '97. I can see the reflection and it is annoying. I notice the bumpy ride but I drive a GX 470 and everything is relative. I've checked the tires and pressure. Unfortunately, I don't think I can blow these complaints off. Any advice appreciated. dbj
