I just had one of my 02 sensors replaced this morning so that I could pass the inspection here.

Here's a list of my expenses which I think are pretty good! I think he charged $45 for the installation because I used the universal sensor which required some wire splicing and added time. What do you guys think?

$35.00 - Diagnostic

$80.00 - Oxygen Sensor

$65.00 - Sensor Installation

$45.00 - Running Inspection

$225 Total.

I just ordered mine from oxygensensors.com $95 install myself. Universal sensor was $45 0r $50. This is the best site that I have found. Good prices, fast service. Best of all the site lets you cross-reference theOEM part number it replaces. Speedyperformance.com's site is confusing and they sent me the wrong part, then they tried to charge me a $24 restocking fee on top of $118 sensor. They said the sensor I needed was backordered and would take 2 weeks. Or I could buy their Denso sensor for $160!

I agree that site looks pretty good. What brand sensor did you buy for $95?

I ordered the walker sensor. The Denso was listed for $119. Not bad considering the other site wanted $160 for the Denso.

In looking thru my factory service manual it looks like there are 3 o2 sensors on the ex manifold, from the picture it looks like you want the one closest to the head on the ex manifold and closest to the front of the motor. the picture sort of shows that the ex manifold is split between the front 3 cyclinders and the rear 3, again you want the one closest to the front of the car. The one located lower on the front half is Bank 1 Sensor 2 and the one one the rear portion(the rear 3 cyclinders) of the ex manifold is Bank 2 Sensor 1..Hope this helps..I have a 98 gs400 so I can't look under my hood to help ya but the factory manual Vol 2 pg EC-8 is where I found the diagram

they say that the lower sensor on the front most manifold is sensor 1:

"Oxygen Sensor

Center

You need to picture this inline 6 engine from front (radiator side) to rear (firewall side). With this in mind, this is the CENTER sensor. This is located on the exhaust manifold, for spark plug #s 1/2/3. Also referred to as the #1 sensor. Year: 8/1997-12/2004"

and then:

"Front

4 wire You need to picture this inline 6 engine from front (radiator side) to rear (firewall side). With this in mind, this is the FRONT sensor. This is located on the exhaust manifold, for spark plug #s 1/2/3. Also referred to as the #2 sensor. "

as you can see they're saying that the lower first manifold sensor is referred to as #1 and the upper front manifold sensor is referred to as #2.

Just a word of warning, I had a problem with autopartswarehouse. They sent me the wrong sensor for my IS. Their site was confusing and contradicting. Then they tried to charge me $24 for a restocking fee! I found oxygensensors.com to be very helpful. They list the OEM part number that the aftermarket sensor replaces. They even have diagrams with wire length and connector shape. You can even call and ask them. They are very friendly and helpful. Hope you get this in time, if not good luck. If autpartswarehouse sends you the wrong part, e-mail or call them and ask them to waive the restock fee. I ended up just paying for return shipping.

hello every one

i'm first time here, i have a lexus Gs300, 2000. my wriless key stop working, my guess is the bettary run out, do you guys know what is the model of the bettary, or where i can go change it. by the way it is hard for me to go offical lexus dealers (i live in binghamton,ny). it is about 40 mintues drive. Also does any one know how to make the "beee" sound louder (when open the door or lock the door use remote key).

Welcome, I am new too. I think you are asking about the battery in your key. I have a 2001 IS 300 and it takes a 1616 battery. The only places I found that carry them are Walmart and Eckerd drugstore ($3-$4) I don't know if the GS is the same?? Hope this helps you out.

Got home last night and my new O2 sensor was waiting for me. Thanks to the awesome instructions on this forum, I removed the passenger seat, unplugged, and removed the b2 s2 sensor in no time. Everything was going great until I noticed the wire on the new sensor was too short. Then I noticed the plug in connector was wrong too. :cries: Re-ordered the sensor from speedyautoparts.com. Hopefully it will be the right one. At least I'll have a lot of practice removing and installing my seat and sensor when all is done.

Nothing like driving home at 10pm on I-20 in Atlanta, when BAM!!!! Passenger side rear window on my IS 300 shatters! Looks like the work of some punk kid with a BB gun. Luckily the window tint kept the shattered glass together and out of my interior. 200 bucks down the drain. My poor baby! If I ever find the guy... :chairshot: Sorry just had to vent.

production date should be on the plate on the drivers door jam.

I had B1S1 go at 37k and B2S1 go at 50some oddK. So, no it is not odd for them to go.

Where is the exhaust leak in relation to the sensor?

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure if there is a leak, it just seemed to have a lot of fumes near the engine when I was under the car lookig at the O2 sensor. I was wondering if there was a leak prior to the cat, would it give a bad reading? Probably just a bad sensor, but I'd like to be sure before shelling out $130-160 for a sensor. Do you know where I can find out what month my car was made? Apparently there is a different sensor depending on early 01 or late.(according to O2 website). Thanks again.

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I have a 2001 IS300 black on tan, auto, 57k, stock. I have a bad O2 sensor, bank 2 sensor 2. Should this sensor last longer than 57k miles? Could an exhaust leak show a bad sensor? The cat has some scratches on it, but it does not rattle when I bang on it. Thanks for your help.
