  1. We currently own a 98 ES300 with 125K miles, and it's holding up pretty well (although some things like seat heaters, power outlets are dying), and one car does not suffice anymore.

I'm looking into a 98-99 GS300/GS400 and for my money it would have about 120-130K miles. How do these cars hold up? Is there anything you suggest paying particular attention to while checking the car out?

The other option I'm considering is 99-00 Acura 3.5RL, which seems to offer a bit better value, but I have to admit I'm becoming a Lex-addict!

    Your advice is appreciated!

got a 98 gs 400 bought it with 100k and still running with out any major problem except for replacing the rear brake calipers, still running strong with 247k on it.

trust these cars are bulletproof if you take care of them.

  2. My 1998 GS 400 w/ 70K runs great on premium gas (91 octain). Now with premium gas selling at $3.20/gal in NY, will I harm or cause any negative effects by using regular (87 octain) or regular plus (89 octain) gasoline? I've heard that using less than 91 octain will cause engine ping or damage. Also, 91 octain gasoline is recommended in owners manual.

I am a conservative driver and would like to hear from other GS 400 owners or technicians about experience with use of lower than 91 octain gas in their vehicles.

My advice, You drive the best, Treat it the best, Burn primo. The car really runs better on 91.

i'll have to agree with these guys, you drive a lex and expect the best. give it the best. every now and then give it some octane booster as well

i tried that once when gas was getting expensive 3.75 in CA so I put a few gallons of 87 in my tank I was on empty, my car started to stutter on acceleration and while driving at freeway speeds i noticed a little hesitation like a miss, so i said f that and luckily i didnt have alot to burn out, and never tried that again. all i have to say is dont do it. just try to conserve gas buy driving 70 and not running the ac in the city

  3. Hey, guys. My front suspension squeaks when I go over bumps in the road, speed bumps, etc. Definitely happens more when it is cold outside. It does not happen when I turn, accelerate or break.

I also started noticing it after I dropped it with l-tuned springs and shocks/struts.

    Help!

does it squeak in the front?

if so what happens is when you recently lowered the car the this of course affected the ride hieght and the way the lower arm sits thus adding a stress on the now old lower ball joints and so when you move over a bump or stop and accelerate this ball joint squeaks like no other.

i had the same problem lowered on ltuned struts and springs had to replace both ball joints not to expensive(depending on what you consider expensive) its like 80 bucks for the joint just have to have them repressed its the labor that will whack you.

took out the old sus and installed coilovers because for some strange reason the ltuned struts blew out after a year. so just a heads up

hope that helps i know that sound is embarrassing

good luck sorry for no punctuation i really dont know how to make sentences...haha
