  1. It's very simple to remove the front bumper and airbag sensors are not connected to it. Just remove all the fasteners around the perimeter of the bumper and it will slide right off. Put a blanket on the ground under the bumper - to set the bumper on and protect it from scratches once you get it off.

To get little dents out, use a heat gun (cautiously and carefully) on the inside of the bumper. Then, with leather gloves on, carefully work the plastic with your fingers and palm while the plastic is hot and soft.

  2. The parking assist senson sits in a bezel and it is always the bezel that cracks and breaks. (I know because someone bumped into mine and broke it). A new bezel is $5 from a dealer. Then, you must pull off the bumper cover to install the new bezel. Taking off the bumper cover is quite easy. Once you get it loose, unplug the wiring harness and set the bumper cover on a blanket (to protect it from scratches). Put the new bezel on and then put the bumper cover back on. Simple as that. Easy to do in less than 1 hour.

  3. On 2011, 12, 13 + vehicles, the 'Maintenance Required' display will display User Defined maintenance items which can be set in your Nav/Display on your dash. It will also display 'Maintenance Required' every 5000 miles to remind you to check the oil (even though the oil now only has to be changed every 10k miles).

When the display is reminding you of one of the User Defined Maintenance items, you can simply reset it by resetting that item on your dash display. However, if it's reminding you of an oil change, the procedure is a little more secret; hence unknown!..... At least until this moment, which I will share the procedure with you! :)

If your "Maintenance Required' display has come on at a 5k mile interval and you have checked or changed your oil, then you can reset and clear that display by:

    1. While the ignition is on, press your Odo/Trip button until the Odometer is on Trip A.

    2. Turn the vehicle off.

    3. Press and hold in the Odo/Trip button and, with your foot OFF the brake, press the Start button TWICE and keep holding in the Odo/Trip button until you see the 'Maintenance Needed' display clear and reset.

    4. Turn off the ignition.

    Cheers

  4. I just got a pair of headphones through an eBay merchant that work perfectly with the factory DVD System in my '06 GX. They're by RCA, model #WHR120RS. The buy-it-now price was just $24.98 with free shipping. I needed a couple of extra pairs, but the dealer's price was $79 each.

The nice thing about the RCA sets is that they can also be used outside the car as the kit includes a wireless transmitter, charger, and rechargable AAA batteries. My kids and I think the RCA's are even more comfortable as the earcups are recessed for the ear, instead of flat foam like the factory sets.

The merchant I got them from is "auctionsmithonline." You can do a search for WHR120RS and find them. I don't normally recommend eBay merchants, but this one really did sell what was advertised and they followed through on their word.

(No, I am not affiliated with this merchant, just a happy customer!)

Check out the Sennheiser Noise Cancelling headphones (available from Amazon.com). They work wonderfully with the system and cancel out all road/car noise. Makes riding in the back seat LOTs of fun!

  5. Hello. I need help on two related topics: 1) Best way to install XM or Sirius with the Levinson system. 2) Is Lexus coming out with an updated way to add satellite radio soon? If so when. I would wait instead of putting something in now 0 Thanks!

Go to the Viastech web site ( www.vaistech) Then have the modules you need and can give you good instructions on installing it if you want to. I strongly recommend sirius over xm. I get real tired of the commercials and verbal commentary on XM.

The sound quality of the Viastech modules with your Levinson system will be INCREDIBLE since you are putting a digital signal directly in to a digital system. When you get done with the installation, it will look just like it did when you drove it out of the dealership.

    Good Luck!

  6. Can anyone tell me how to reset the tire pressure sensor system on my GX. My tire pressures are all correct. However, the light occasionally comes on. On other Toyota brand vehicles I have owned, it was possible for the User to reset the system. I hate to have to go to the dealer for (what seems) to be such a simple thing!

  7. I traded in my RX for a GX after 3 recalls on RX. (05 GX for 05 RX) My wife used it for bidness (republican spelling) She parked it this morning and took my 7 year old LS, said she is done. I now will use the new GX for grocery shopping. (I love the GX) I am 71 retired. The reviews on the hybrid RX are awful, so I am stuck, driving 5 blocks back and forth every day to the grocery store. Worst thing is that all her hillbilly CD's are in the GX, and my classical CD's are still in my old LS.

Her GX complaints are; hard to steer, can't see out the rearview mirrors because of the headrests in the back, hard to get in to our narrow door garage, passenger seat doesn't have multiple settings for her bidness contacts. jerky transmission at times, clunks; can't operate her hands free V710 phone while in motion easily.

hard for a 5 foot 7 woman to get in and out of the car, the only thing she likes is that her coffee and bottled water don't spill, like they do with the old LS.

I Need some suggestions on what to do. I want a reliable 4 wheel drive for winter, but can't see re-trading back to an RX. The GX has under 5000 miles after 8 months.

Get rid of the wife. The GX is a GREAT vehicle.

  8. Apart from "Clunk" problem which I still have, I noticed that only

front two tires are wearing more than rear ones. Left and right

are wearing equally but the difference between front and rear are

noticable only at 1.5 months(about 2500 miles) after I purchased

certified pre-owned 2003 with brand new tires(Yokohama Goelander

    H/S・T P265/65R17).

Is it normal? I understand that I should rotate tires at every oil change

(maybe every 5000 miles) but I wonder if such a difference of tire wearing

between front and rear is really normal for GX470...(in such a short drive

    like 2500 miles)

Please someone kindly advise me if I should consult this with a dealer, or

this is just a matter of tire rotation?

Hello, Yes, you should rotate your tires at least every 5k miles. Also, take it easy when cornering (that goes for any car!). Easy cornering will save you LOTS of rubber down the road!
