I took it to the dealer and they said it's the rubber bushings in the differental.

The bushings shrink over time and that is causing the thump sound.

They said this is considered normal wear and tear and they won't cover it under warranty.

I'm not sure what to do at this point, and they said it's a very BIG repair job to change out the bushings with no guarantee the thump will go away.

It wasn't the spare tire, u-joints, or tranny mount.

What do you guys think?

It's very annoying, and i guess i have to live with the play in the differental.

They said i can go back to the dealer to have the mechanic test drive with me to make sure we're hearing the same sound after you hit the gas from coasting, but what's the use if they won't honor my warranty?

hey sorry to hear that.... but from what i know, the lexus/toyota vehicles uses something called a "floating type differential" on their rear wheel drive vehicles, which means the differential is mounted to the rear subframe via RUBBER bushings, i hate to say it but they all thump under the right conditions, very much like the driveshaft clunk you find on the GX and the LX. changing the bushings will probably mean the rear subframe gets changed and after that it will most definally return within a short period of time. i would still have the dealer double check your driveshaft play and make sure its within spec. and go from there....good luck

I used to have an lx470 and under certain conditions it would do the same thing. It is normal on these models.

I was searching for some information about getting my wheels chrome dipped and came across these guys in LA called LA wheel and tire has anyone heard of them? their website isnt amazing but it has a lot of good info, i guess im a littke skeptical to buy over the internet, i found this on ebay anyone in here who has bought from them before? i tried calling the number on the page but i guess their closed right now

I got my rims chromed from lexus. Beware of people trying to sell themselves on ebay. Lexus is reputable i dont know about him. Good luck B).

I dated the secretary at lexus's service department for a month. :D jkjk. No, i made a deal with the manager at lexus when i bought the car for him to chrome it. They'll do the job on any car. I'm not sure how much money though.

That car was cheapened by his mods. Its too classy of a car to put flames on it lol. Check out that "custom" wiring job on that mtx amp lol. Just my opinion.

Things are on their way but nothing released just yet. I have seen cars with demo/pre-production exhausts and custom ones. You probably don't have too much longer to wait. It will be awhile, though, before you get a decent selection/choice.

I recently bought a 2006 gs300 for myself for christmas. I just had the wheels chromed and the windows tinted. I'm waiting for them to come out with intake kits and exhaust systems. Im eighteen years "OLD"

The exterior is the blue onyx pear and the interior is the black perforated leather trim with red walnut accent. I got the windows tinted and i got the rims chromed.

At lextasy.com you can get that ash tray converter thing.
