  1. yeah they really wanted to keep the car in their shop ... i told the GM of the dealership and service department that i needed a 4 year warranty on the engine ... because i am paying 300$ a month for the next 4 years ... and i'll be damned if i have to pay for a car i can't drive ... and he seemed very sympathetic towards my situation ... so far they have handled it well ... i just have my fingures crossed that the end will come out okay ...

but from the experienced guys ... how long do engines generally last when they go through something like this ... ?

  2. okay so i took my 98 GS 400 to toyota for a timing belt change i have 90,000 miles and they just called me and told me that as the mechanic was working on my car the new timing belt broke and *BLEEP*ED my engine up ... it turns out that the mechanic was a rookie ... 3 days on the job ... *BLEEP*ING IDIOTS ... the only LEXUS in the piece of *BLEEP* dealership and they got the *BLEEP*IN ROOKIE working on it ... JESUS CHRIST ... man i got the regional vice president of Toyota USA involved ... i demanded that they take my car to a lexus dealership and they said they would ... but the owner of the dealership called me up and told me it would be a better idea to leave it there ... and that he would get his shop forman who is Lexus certified to work on it ... WHY DIDN"T THEY DO THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE ... so i said no way you people are too incompetent to change a *BLEEP*IN TIMING BELT i'm not letting you guys work on my enginge ... so he said look i'm going to level with you ... you really don't want to take it to another dealer because if something *BLEEP*s up ... there will be alot of fingure pointing ... so i told him the only way i will allow my car to be worked on in his dealership is if he gives me a written gauruntee on his work for the next 4 years ... that is how long i have left on my car payments ... so he agreed ...

is there anything i should know?

what will this do to my babies life span?

i had a tranny rebuilt done on my Jaguar XJ6 and it was downhill after that ... is this what will happen with an engine rebuilt ...? a few people tell me that an engine rebuilt with new parts is actually a good thing ... how can that be?

can i still street race or will this put too much strain on a rebuilt engine?

i'm so upset ... why did they have to *BLEEP* my car up?

and if your wondering why i took it to Toyota in the first place ... well i will tell you.

the Lexus dealer on Scottsdale wanted 1500 with a water pump ...

the toyota dealer in Phoenix ... Camelback Rd. and 13th street said they would do it for 399 just the timing belt ... how could i refuse?

  3. put in a borla exhaust ... my pick ... or any exhaust & intake ... let the V8 ROAR ... you will smile everytime you floor it ...

Shoes are important ... go with Z rated tires ... our cars have fat asses at 2 tons ... i have Z rated Pirelli's and they handle 150 mph like glue ...

Tints ... .5 mil(limo) ... in rear and rear passenger ... put .10 mil in front ... changes the car completly ...

get a radar detector ... saved me 342 times ...

upgrade sound system ... i like fosgates ...

rims ... but not if you plan on racing ...

change the interior ... i had louis Vetton leather put in ... (cream with multi colored LV) for under 1500... automatic chick magnet ... drops their jaws ... i love it lololololololol hahahahahahaha ... man this car has gotten me so much !Removed! its unbelievable ...

    OR

  4. In the mornings when I start driving, when I step on the break, the break light comes on then goes off when I let go of the brakes.

For every 10 times I break, I would say the break light comes on 4-5 times.

This only happens in the mornings....never during the day or any other time.

Breaks are only 2 years old....still breaks very well and no sign of wear and tear on them...

    Any ideas????

check your brake fluid ... it may be low ...

your brake pedal may be is being pushed to low and your pulling on the emergency brake ... (safety feature)

  5. This person is absolutely right! I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that the car is a cave. The lighting for the dials and dash are not the problem. The lights on the steering wheel are far too dim. If my family is sleeping while I'm driving at night, I can not operate the cruise control. I don't use it very often, and don't know the controls without seeing them. There is no way to see the cruise control stick in the dark. Next, most of the buttons on the driver's door are not illuminated. I park the car in an underground garage. If my wife drove the car last, and I need to press the seat memory button, I need to open the driver's door to see the button. Also, why aren't ALL the window buttons illuminated? I don't understand this stupidity. Have any of you tried to strap a child into a car seat in an underground garage? It is so dark that I can not find where to insert the seat belt clip. My son dropped a red miniature box of raisins to the rear "illuminated" foot well. I could not retrieve the raisins until I got into daylight. We are still looking for the yellow Power Ranger. The truck is so deep, why did they only give us one lousy light to illuminate the entire trunk? What if you need to change a flat, or get something out of a suitcase on a dark road? You folks will excuse my ranting, but while we are on the subject:

    1) I have at least 3 different dashboard rattles

2 You have to take your eye off the road AND LOOK DOWN to adjust the seat temperature controls!

3)You can not clean the driver's wiper blade while the hood is closed - I could not believe this.

    3) The bluetooth can not handle call waiting. I HATE THIS!

    4) The MODE button on the steering wheel is prone to be inadvertently pushed when blowing the horn. If the radio is off, pressing the mode button turns the radio on.

    5) When the radio is muted for the phone call, after the call is ended, It comes back at full volume and usually scares the daylights out of me. Same with the MODE button. It would be nice if it would gradually return to volume.

    6) If the voice command does not understand you, instead of telling you to repeat the command, it guesses. So, now it's changed some nav setting, and you have to get the owners manual to figure out how to undo what the voice command has done.

    7) The nav should automatically delete the destination once you arrive. I don't understand why I need to manually delete the destination.

    8) I don't know if you guys like the rain sensing wipers, but I think that they are not sensitive enough. If it is drizzling, it takes far too long in between intervals.

    9) Why do we need 4 buttons for the sun roof? Not only is it a waste of space, again, you need to take your eyes off the road to find the right button.

    10) Lousy paint. Chips easily. And typical of all Lexus, the body dings easily.

    11) It would be nice if the electric mirror folding was a retained power feature. I usually decide to fold that the mirrors need to be folded after the engine is off.

    12) HID headlights are good, it is a shame the foglights don't match.

    13) The automatic tilt down feature for the mirrors is useless for me, because the degree of how far the tilt goes is not adjustable. The mirrors do not tilt down far enough.

To be fair, I love the driving comfort. The seats are great. The fuel economy comparatively is pretty good. The nav is fantastic. The radio is pretty good, however I still can not solve the mystery of how to make a DVD audio disk. The AWD works well. I drove the car in a blizzard. The whole push-button start and key fob system is my favorite feature. And to my surprise, I use the backup camera all the time. The intuitive parking system (sonar) is worth every penny. I wish I could have gotten the parking system together with the rear sunshade. My dealer told me that it was one or the other. I did not know this until I picked up the car. Apparently this is a huge engineering challenge for Lexus. It's not so much that I care about the sunshade, But I have a sunshade button that has no function. Something like a button with no function can drive a person with a Type-A personality up the wall.

lol Why don't you tell us how you really feel ...

  6. Okay guys ... so i'm on the 101 Loop in AZ doing about 75mph when this blue S-type pulls up next to me and throws his hazards on so i'm thinking there is a problem with my car ... so i check to see if my headlights are on and they are ... so i figure his tryin to tell me my brakelights are out but then he gets in front of me and hits the trottle ... and slows down next to me again so i figured he wanted to race so i threw my hazards on ... he flashed his high beams and pushed the pedal to the metal ... i was still trying to turn on the ect pwr so he got about 50 feet ahead of me but you guys know how our lexus loves to open up ... so i let her have it ... caught up around 105mph ... and steadily pulled ahead until about 135mph when he chickened out and flashed his high beams again ... he must have been about 15 feet behind me ... well too bad for his jaguar hahaha another one bites the dust ...

  7. Just rotated my tires - same problem - shakin at 55-65 mph all of a sudden.

Took Ryan's advice - upped tire pressure all four tires to 40 - shaking is completely gone! Even drove it on the freeway for an hour while changin speeds....thanks Ryan - it worked for me!!

yeah but man you need to be careful ... with your tire pressure that high ... DO NOT ... i repeat DO NOT go over 85mph they WILL explode ... all jokes aside what you are doing is very dangerous ... max on any tires on a sedan should be 36 psi ... thats the MAX ... if you are going to be going 90mph for a sustained period of time you need to drop your tire pressure down to 10 - 15 psi i had mine at 25 when my back passenger tire exploded on the freeway doing 110mph so be forwarned bro .. BE CAREFUL

  8. i can't quite remember if that was the code or not ... but i promise you its not the ecu ... you would have known if it was the ecu ... its the tps sensor ... PPS sonsor is being affected because of your TPS sonsor ... your TPS sonsor might have carbon build up ... either way get it repaired at the shop and when their replacing the sonsor tell them to clean the trottle body ...

    Shoe

  9. well ... here is the good news ... you don't need a new ECM ... bad news is it will still cost you about $500 ... i sugest telling the rep to clean your trottle body while his in there ...

oh yeah its a TPS Sensor ... and most likely your pedal position sensor ... its tied in with the TPS ...

well geuss can't give anymore info then that...

  10. well aija ... i used to instruct the defensive driving course in the NYPD ... 90% of the time when you are on the street ... its not the car you drive but the driver ... a closed track is different ...

    i've beaten a S320 in a V4 Camry lol

anyway we are all allowed our own opinion ... thats whats so great about this country

  11. okay i'm on the 101 N around gilbert Az. doin about 85mph its around 2:30 am ... when 2 cars pass me doin about 95 mph... so i catch up within seconds and see that its a jeep grand cherokee limited ... with the HEMI V8 ... i think he had around 340 or 360 horses ... anyway i have a 2004 JGC limited V8 but no HEMI, let my wife drive it ... so i know what he was capable of ... the car next to him on his right, i think it was a 86 trans am any way once the HEMI saw me next to him he let it rip ... i realized he went full trottle because of the second of lag when the tranny drops gears in an auto ...

so i stomp on the gas and opened her up ... needless to say he didn't pass me but he was on my !Removed! the whole time ... we hit a top of about 140 mph for almost 14 miles ... then my radar detector went on so i hit the hazards and cruised down to 75 ... so did the HEMI

i love the freeways in Az. especially at night ... their so deserted ...

oh forgot about the trans am ... i guess he redlined at about 110 ... cause we lost him after that ...

  12. a G35/350Z coupe stickshift is about 298HP. Im sure they can beat GS300/400/430.

P.S. Just in case anyone points out "well those are stickshift cars", well, guess what, sport cars were ment to be stickshift.

aaaahhhh ... no my friend your absolutly wrong ...

  13. lol at the comments

me personally ... i love to know how cars face off with each other ...

if thats not your thing then from now on if you see a post by shoemaker don't read it ...

lol no i generally don't get tickets ... its a hassle for a regular police officer to ticket another ranking officer wether retired or not ... he has to get a commanding officer to the premises in order to issue a sitation.

P.S. also i'm only 29 years old ... i was shot on duty and forced to retire on three quarters pension ...
