  1. BTW, I do have the number and address of the guys out in Cali who fix the HVAC bleeding LCD if you or anyone else needs help with that. They only charge $195, includes return shipping. They're actually the ones who repair HVAC for the guys on eBay that charge $335. I thought about having Lextech "whiting" them out after I get the LCD up and running again.

Can I get the contact info for this company that will fix the HVAC LCD black-out issue? I don't know who may have it, but can someone post it? I just got my SC300 this past weekend, and this is one of the problems I would like to have fixed.

    Thanks!

    -Scott

I can get you a perfect shape unit for $285 with 90 day warantee...pm me if interested

  2. Not a bad Job Jibby, months later and the thread is going strong.

I just bought a 1998 SC400 and would like to mod the thing out. Currently it has 68k miles on it and is in great condition.

Exhaust - I'd like to work this first with stock pipes. for the Magnaflow Cats, The two front sizes are 2.25 inch and the back 2 in 1 is 2.25 in and 2.5 out? Any part numbers to use would be a help.

Once I replace the 3 cats, i'd like to replace the back 2 resonators, with a Straight through design, but I want to keep the ghost quiet sound the car currently has. People tend to get freaked when i suddenly floor it and disapear without a sound. I like that. What should I use for this?

LSD - I dont know what i've got for a differential. Going straight i've peeled out with both tires for a long while. HOw can I tell if I have stock or aftermarket LSD?

Breaks - They not bad, the rotors are ugly and semi rusty. I'd like to go slotted cross drilled for style.

Supra Control arms - Where can i get these and what year/model Supra would fit on a 98 SC? so far I've found front lower arms for 250-400 a pop. Do I need upper and lower or just one of them?

Seafoaming - Would you suggest I do this now? I found some old oil change reciepts and it was texaco station that did the work. Would putting in a high quality Synth oil be bad at this stage of the game?

Intake - What drop in filter and part number can i Use with the stock intake ?

just a drop in filter will not do anything, it has been proven. You should do BFI intake type as described in www.planetsoarer.com you will see at least 10whp + with this mods and same oem filtering quality.

  3. Lexusalex - That's a really good dyno for a 1993...You must have done a really good intake mod and ECU tune...207rwhp is very impressive on an older SC, without headers too....Headers and deleted down cats should bring you another 10whp or so....Get a torque converter and your cars 0-60mph times will greatly increase also....

That's one strong 93 you got, good job... ;)

I am on a bit of a budget right now, but I would like to really start Moding my car, I can get the money for just about anything I need it just might take a month or two of starvation =p

The first thing I was going to do was replace my exhaust manifold, and Mufflers and add a cold air intake.

Later I want to add a single turbo and nitros system but I want to get as much real power out of the car as possible first.

Are there any other changes I should consider doing before I begin working on getting a turbo in my car?

I have a 1993 SC400 right now I have done almost nothing to it aside from some lightening and straight through exhaust

Also I know nothng about ECUs, I just have never used or done anything in the computer area, is that something I should really consider?

You should maybe consider a "Piggy back ECU" maybe an Apexi SAFC piggy back ECU unit...This increases the air and fuel mixture that is being delivered to the motor..It is easily wired up to the stock ECU then you can fine tune the engines air/fuel mix and flow.....This Piggy-back ECU further advances the capabilities of the limited stock ECU...Gains in the 10-15hp range should be expected.....

I would do exhaust ,headers, intake and do ecu or S-afc after since it would be adjusted according to new air flow resulting from those mods. I know i noticed a big improvent just from a BFI intake and Exhaust.

  4. Hi, just following up from a previous question I posted. I decided to just go ahead and try it. I took out my factory unit and jumpered a1 to a3 (radio/amp output plugs) and presto, I had sound. Hooked a mini jack to the low level inputs to see if it would do OK with my IPOD, and it sounded beautiful. Long story short, it is possible to patch into the factory amps. It was very easy after I got the radio out (that was the hardest part. . .that and soldering me a 1/8" jack to be plugged into the factory harness). Onward now to finish my carputer. Just butchered and gutted my factory radio to install a 7" LCD in its place. Looking good so far!

so your using an after market radio but with an existing amp right??

    how does it sound?

  5. WoW!! Great thread guys!!

I always thought SC might have a nice Hp potential if modified.

    My car is a 1993 SC400 with 152,000 mi

I started out with a BFI completely sealed out from the engine bay with Aluminum foil tape, air is drawn from the chamber under the bumper, chamber is also opened up to allow rammed air at speeds.

I then replaced rear Exhaust mufflers and removed 2 resonators, car is still not very loud but has a nice deep tone.

Also I installed S-Afc 1 and had the car dyno tuned. Before S-AFC I made 200rwhp , after I made 207 but gains were better then that from 4 to 6k rpms I gained around 15 hp there and around 20lb of torque. as much as 15% of fuel was taken out at 5,000 rpm, car was definitely running rich. After tunning with S-AFC I could tell a niticable difference in power after 4000rpm.

end result I am making 207rwp and 230lb of torque at the moment. My estimate it’s around 275hp and around 300lb of torque.

My 0-60 times measure before and after with G-tech were 7.4-7.7 sec before and after im getting 6.4-6.7 almost

a full second difference. At speeds over 60 I think there is a huge improvement in acceleration.

Raced my friends 95 sc400 stock before intake and exhaust and after , difference was huge, before we were nearly identical, after he had no chance I would just pull away from him at highway speeds.

    I raced many other cars

raced a manual WRX, it was pretty much dead even until 90mph thats when i started to slightly pull away from him.

I think my car would benefit a lot from headers if gains are what people claim.

here is a link to my dyno graphs http://www.dragtimes.com/Lexus-SC400-Timeslip-9719.html

  6. Check the relays in the cabin fuse block are then.

Listen for where the headlight relay is and it should be right by it.

Just keep turning the lights on/off to trace the clicking.

Well the headlight relay is in the box under the hood I did find that, but there is no relay there for park lights,, very strange...

  7. Take it to a technition.

I said "I would check your relays"

then you asked me where and i said "SHould be under the hood in the fuse block area , read the descriptions of each one in there"

I never said to check fuses

There are no relays for park light that i could find under the hood or under the dash.

  8. Abput 8 to 12 grand.
Here is my 1993 lexus sc400

has traction, heated seats 142,000 mi , modified bfi intake(uses stock air filter), stainless exhaust system. Car runs super, just like new.

My friend has a 1995 sc400 and before i did intake and exhaust his car was faster on a hiway. After the upgrades my car easily smokes him on the hiway. I think it has at least

275hp with modification  . I do have a salvage title , only one accident in history that was when i bought it. Was hit in the rear, no frame damage , car drove fine.

Any ideas on how much the car is worth ???

    I will take offers

    4-6K.

I HIGHLY doubt 275HP, maybe 255-260 AT THE MOST!!! But yeat 4-6 grand is what i'd expect to get for it...

My friend has a 1995 sc400, which is 260hp stock. Before the upgrades we raced on a highway and his car was a bit faster . After the upgrades to my and his surprise i was easily beating him. So im sure My mods did at least 275 if not more.

  9. where exactly did you tap the wires for the fogs AT ?

If i am reading this right ,you wired a 110 watt set of lights to a 15 amp set of wiring ?

If so ,no wonder it doesn;t work any more.

    I would check your relays.

I wired them at the closest spot posible which is conection behind the park lights.. O and

I forgot to mention ,,,all i did was converter the lower turn signals to fog lights that would be on all the time,,but im not sure waht the power rating is on those.. I will check relays,,,are they in the fuse box under the hood???

  10. Ok I hooked up some PILOT fog lights to my 1992 SC 300. When I have them on I smell something burning but then after a few days it's gone, but my side markers, parking lights, and fog lights are no longer working. I checked the fuses and they all seemed fine. My head lights, taillights, and brake lights are all working. Some one please help me. Does anyone have the same problem or a fuse diagram to the one on the driver side panel? I would greatly appreciate the help.

Same thing here i hooked up fog lights,,they worked for a few month. Now i have no fog lights or park light. I cant find the problem.
