  1. I like to know if anyone here has done the xpel clear bra paint job on their IS350? I like to get

    • Hood, Fender and Mirror Kit -> ($249.95)
    • Bumper and Lower Bumper Kit -> ($319.95)
    • Headlamp and Fog Lamp Kit (Blue) -> ($83.94)

I wonder if we have to pay the full retail price with labor or we might be able to get some discounts from the local dealer?

From what I've seen, most are paying $600 to $700 for that kind of job. Labor is included. The price you have seems to be in line.

I was quoted $650 and then talked with the guy at Stone-X that actually does it for the dealer. He told me that it's NOT for a "full warp". For $650, I get the hood, front fenders, door handle backing plates and trunk opening backing plate (fingernail scratches). These are not pre cut. They actually remove the grill and wrap it around the sides and cut. It does NOT include the front valance, pillars, headlights, foglights, etc.

I plan to wait until I'm informed of my IS coming in and then I'll go down and talk about the cost of the "full wrap". Another local IS owner told me that he had issues with this dealer not only with the clear bra (redone 3 times), but also with the tint installation. I'll get the issues resolved prior to giving them the go ahead or I'll take it to a local, highly recommended clear bra and tint specialist. :o

my dealer offered it for 649 and I negotiated 100 off. its for the front minus headlights but the salesman said he would try to get the mirrors and headlights included for no charge.

So you actually paid for $550 for everything? Where did you get your clear bra installed? I would get one if I can get everything done around $550.

yes I did. and my salesman got the guy to do the extra parts for no extra charge.

  2. I find this thread to be amazing. I bought my ls 430 ultra from lexus of northborough. elizabeth stevens was the lying c-word salesperson. air suspension had been repaired with no record given to me. [a part failed 1yr later thatleft the rear end suspended like a 60s dragster]. rear end had been hit. of course I wasnt told. park sensor in front damaged and I had pictures I took before I bought it and they said I was lying. the park distance control was turned off conveniently when I test drove it and took delivery. lexus corporate did nothing. the GM [named eric something or other] is an arrogant lying !Removed! too. if you deal with this dealership after reading this thread you deserve whatever happens to you.

insofar as balise lexus is concerned, the 2 grand off is legit. I got that and free xm radio in my deal for an is 350. why you wouldnt take that deal is beyond me. jesus.

when I test drove and then made my deal and then closed it today when the car came in I was wearing wind pants and a thick pullover casual shirt. you people who talk about appearance mattering have no clue what financial transactions are about. all that matters is that when its time for money to move the deal along you better have it. and dont bs when youre negotiating. yep MOST sales clowns are just that. but you should know that they dont think too highly of you either. one of the monthly car mags has a segment where a real salesman gives inside tips for BOTH sides of the deal. you guys who are whining are probably the guys who give the average customer a bad image ONCE THEY HIT THE LOT.

you dont have to believe what I am saying, thats your perogative. I will be DRIVING my new IS on wednesday. what will you be doing? my sales person is ed ladika. he is a good guy. 2000 off. how does that sound?

  4. I wanted crystal white/cashmere but it was impossible to get without a special order so I ended up with matador red with cashmere and it is GORGEOUS. all the black interior combos are ugly and black/black is such a lame cliche as to be unbeleivably tacky. seems like its either youngsters or old macho man wannabes who get that combo. coming from an ls 430 ultra with millenium silver/black I NEVER want to see another black interior again. its not like its hard to keep the interior of your car clean unless youre lazy.

  5. To be honest, I'm dissappointed with the level of activity on this forum. There are only a few new posts per day, and usually by the same posters. Is there another, more active Lexus forum than this one? Surely, there must be a large group of internet savvy Lexus owners out there. Where do they all hang out?

    Craig

they hang out at clublexus.com . everyone there is not 'a mechanic' but they re relatively mature and knowledgeable. much more active than this IS forum for sure. edmunds.com has a more active IS forum too.

  6. But I like this color better.

In my opinion buying a LEXUS is money well spent unlike most other auto mfg's. <_<

can you in anyways explain to me how is the money well spend in you opinion

    cheap interior

the interior IMHO can't compete with the TSX

    i mean comon

    if you want our money

use your brain a little bit more

the exterior is nice, expect the stupid side mirror

    i believe with that quality

it should be around the TL G35 price

    not a bimmer 330i price

don't know if you guys would agree

    just my 2 cent

jeez what kind of english translation is this? its almost unintelligible

  7. I've just spent the last several days at a local Lexus dealership and put a deposit down today.

Here's exactly what I was told:

    1. You can get the ML sound system but you have to order and it's at least $1K extra.  Ordering takes about 3 months but you're going to have to wait for the car you want anyway.  They are selling very fast.

    2. The car is pre-wired for XM & Sirius but you have to buy a separate receiver that is about $400 through the dealer.  This is for either the standard sound system or ML.  I imagine you can buy the receiver elsewhere for about $100.

    3. The first batches of cars are also not shipping with what they call the Luxury package, which adds to the Premium Package:  power tilt & telescoping steering column (standard is manual t&t), memory seats, illuminated scuff plates, rear window powershade, HID adaptive lights, rain-sensing wipers.  Again, this can be ordered, but it's about $2K more.

    4. The are selling these cars at sticker price, even to repeat customers like yours truly.  You can see the sticker if you 'builid your own' at Lexus.com.

    5. I drove a 350 and it absolutely ripped...  Very, very fast but also incredibly quiet and refined.  I was impressed.

Hope that helps.  I learned a lot the last few days.

I drove an IS 350 on monday at the local dealer with the sport package and power tilt and telescoping wheel was present.

  8. I was curious, so I went to the Soundgate website, and found nothing relating to Lexus and Sirius.  Bunch of other cars, but not Lexus.  As I suspected, my other car, a new Mazda turbo, which has a Bose sound system, does not have a Soundgate option either.

It looks like Kenwood is the most available system that can be added to your SAT ready radio to receive Sirius-if it is Kenwood ready.  Costs about $500 with labor and antenna.  If you go to Crutchfield.com, there are several other tuners that can be added to factory SAT prepped radios, but look at it this way:

If your car is prepped with SAT, you still need to add the tuner plus antenna plus labor =$500+ at the dealer.

Or, If you rip out the new useless radio, and add a cheap Kenwood SAT radio plus the tuner and antenna, you pay about $500-DIY.

I'm using the Plug and Play.  Looks like crap, but it works.  Using the existing radio.  What a deal.  I hide the P & P in the glove box-of a brand new car!

I wouldn't shame my Lexus with such a shabby look-sad.

this guy has to be stupid.

    1. satellite radio is an OPTION so unless you request it of course it wont work.

    2. there are 2 satellite radio options in america and we are lucky to have them since the terrestrial radio lobby fought very hard against it.

    3. I know for a fact that there is an xm radio compatible plug and play fully integrated system for lexus. I own it.

    4. yeah I know you can get 3 months of working satellite radio in some new acuras. BUT THIS IS NOT ACURA.

    5. as an xm radio subscriber I can get free internet streaming as of 4/1/05.

its a LOT easier to rant when you dont know what youre talking about. no he doesnt represent the majority of members here thank god.

  9. According to this post it is easy:  http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...7&hl=navigation. Contact one of members that did it themselves. Try doing a search next time before posting...there are a handful of answers. I hope this helps.

mine is a 2001 as well and YOU CANNOT upgrade it yourself. later model years you can but for 2001 there is programming that the dealer has to do. it does store your current settings though and updates the graphics and POI listings et al.

  10. your car is not worth 53000 or 49000. I paid 39995 from a lexus dealer for my ultra with 39400 miles on it non CPO which would have cost me an extra 2000. they had come down from 42500 because the car sat on their lot for 45 days. so they said anyway. as of september your car is now another year older. you will be buried in that car if you think youre going to get anywhere near that price regardless of the mileage.

  11. I dont believe any car is silent on the road. the ls 430 included. my wife and I went to a local dealer so she could test an rx 330 and the first thing the sales guy said once we were underway was 'notice how quiet it is'. uh no. relative to other vehicles well its more quiet but silent no. and that goes for my 01 ls 430 ultra and the 04 ls 430 I test drove last summer too. its a quiet car relative to other cars but that just speaks to the undue noise coming from the lack of sound insulation. of course if when I get rid of my craptastic michelin mxv4 energy tires maybe for the continental extreme contacts going on soon it will be closer to silent. if you are talking about the normal wind noise that you hear in 95% of other cars then you are correct it is void of wind noise under 80mph. and as far as the air suspension goes I like having the option to change from comfort to somewhat sporty ride at the touch of a button. the ultra also allows for headlight washers which come in handy on slushy messy days we get here in the northeast during the winter.the cool box is nice to have in the back and the door closers are good too. when you talk about whats going to go wrong you should know that the 2001 ls 430 is the most reliable car in america. according to jd power's owners survey. if you can afford it new then go ahead and buy but the best 'deal' is to get a CPO ultra since you will avoid the depreciation.

  12. you beat me to it rl. lexus link is dead for new subs because its currently analog and furthermore the current units will not be upgraded to digital and there is a current TSB for owners to come in and have it removed/disabled. this ties the current record for the over use of the word and variants of current.

  13. a lot of these responses are pointless when regarding the original topic. I am pretty sure that you can go to the dealer and have them turned off. the info I have been given [i have not confirmed it yet with a dealer] is that if you do have them programmed off you then lose your fog lights as well which doesnt make sense to me but thats the info I have been given. I will ask a dealer soon since I hate them too but I cannot see them when I am driving so its not that bad.
