  1. I am wrong ,for some reason i was thinking of another set of rims.

Is that the same ones in your avatar?

They actually are not bad looking ,you might be able to get $800 for them.

I know the bmw rims they look like bnut they have a bent out spoke which makes them look real strong on those ones to me.

Hey SK; I knew I liked you for some reason :D ...you are reasonable and can admit when you are wrong  Thats a wonderful characteristic! I put the picture of my rims in my first post if you want to go and look at them. I'm 80% sure now that I am going to send them to get chrome plated. I contacted LA Wheels this weekend and they will triple plate them for $400 or $417 if I want an exchange + $75 return shipping. That's not a bad deal. If I do that, I will post here, and of course you will close this thread right?

Anyway, thank you for all of your input.

  2. They are very ugly and plain rims so they are not desired by many. Most would buy them as a second set just for the tires.

    opinion!

I personally think they look very nice. I am partial to 5and 6 spoke wheels. Just today I saw a new 5 series BMW with a rim very similar, so similar I had to look real close to see if they were actually the Lexus ES rim.

    steviej

Thank you stviej ;) I think that they are good looking too. Did you see my slightly blurry photo of them? They are nice. B)

  3. It is not the point of there replacment value but of there actual value .They are very ugly and plain rims so they are not desired by many. Most would buy them as a second set just for the tires.

These rims are not ugly SK. post-20342-1127545384_thumb.jpg When was the last time you actually saw 2005 ES 330 rims? These things are nice looking...they have more of a simi-chrome L center, five chrome lug nuts. and chrome stems/ with a nice smooth finish. These are very shiney alloy rims. I'm going to have to post a picture of them for you guys. You make sure you come back and look when I post the picture.

What I think I may do is sell the chrome rims that I have on my car to my God daughter for $200 and do a chrome exchange for my factory rims because I really like the six spoke Lexus factory rims. (maybe) I'm still trying to decide.:whistles: I'm not hurting to sell them at all.

  4. I don't think you will get anywhere near 1300 for them especially with no rubber.

$500 is more reasonable as for 1300 you can get a whole new set of rims with rubber nowadays

You can't get orginal Lexus wheels for that price? I won't sell them for $500. That's $100 a piece. I'll just keep them and look at them them.:whistles: Thanks for your input.

have fun looking at them...cause that is exactly what you will be doing for that price.....tell them I said hi...

All five of them said, hi back, how you doing!? :D

  6. [this survey invitation is ok'ed by SK to be listed in the ES section, thanks!]

    Dear friends,

This research is part of a Master's thesis and is unrelated to any business interest. We really appreciate your input!

    Regards,

    Tracy

My car has the nav, but, I have not learned to use it to its fullest capacity yet.

Gotta read my book. and play the tutorial.

  7. I left the default setting on my '03 ES. It works out extremely well for me. Is there any reason you would want to change it?

Well, they are giving me a choice, and they made a appointment for me to specifically come back and have them set....I was thinking  since I have the choice, why not choose, Duh, LOL, I don't know. I guess you are right, I could leave it the same; but, I was wondering if one worked better over the other. you are so right though; if it aint broke, don't fix it.

  8. Since I have heard that a Lexus ES 330 is a gussied up Camery, and in my town there is no Lexus Dealer; but, there is a very good Toyota Dealer, do you think I can/should take my car for service to the Toyota Dealer?  Thanks

Sure, why not. Since they're stable mates, there shouldn't be any problems with servicing your car.....and it'll be less $$$ :)

I was thinking that too; but, the Lexus Dealer told me that I should NOT take it to Toyota for service except maybe oil changes. You think that they can do more than an oil change?

  9. Hello,

    Thanks for reply.

because i have 160,000 miles and don't have any problem. it's just run.

    I always use prem. gas.

Neither did my 98 only with 88K miles. Runs fine and mpg were good (23 to 25 in city and to work). I cleaned the throttle body and iacv. Here was the outcome..

    http://home.comcast.net/~94gsxr1100/lexus/tb_clean.jpg

There is more to it then jsut using 93 or 94 gas here.

Don't mean to change the subject, but, I use 89 oct gas for my 2005 Lexus ES 330...is that okay or should I use 93 or 94? The salesman at the Lexus Dealer said I could use 87, but I think that oct makes a car run sluggish. What do you think mburnickas?

  10. thanks for the feedback ,i will see how it can be made to be more noticable as it is somewhat blended into the banner.

Hello Mr. Management LOL! I like this forum. You guys are very informative. Being a woman, and not know a whole lot about cars, this will now be the first place I come to ask before I go shopping for stuff for my new 2005 Lexus ES 330. It looks like you guys have been here a long time. Thanks again for this forum.

  11. I am going to select my personal settings on Fri and I am wondering about the following two preferences; so I wonder what you guys think.

I live in a smaller town; but, I do travel to bigger cities like Phoenix & Tucson, AZ & LA, CA & Las Vegas.

Of the following personal settings, which did/do you prefer:

    1. Unlocking of doors when placing vehicle into park. While the engine is running and the vehicle is placed into park, the vehicle can be programmed as follows:

    a. When placing the vehicle into park, all of the doors will remain LOCKED.

    (Standard)

    b. When placing vehicle into park, ALL the doors will automatically UNLOCK.

    2. Auto locking of doors at 13 mph. When the vehicle reaches 13 mph, the vehicle can be programmed as follows:

    a. The doors will not lock. (Standard)

    b. All of the doors will automatically lock.

Of the two preferences above, which did you select for each, and why (if you don't mind). :)

  12. Is that right, $250 for ALL FOUR!? Humph! In one breath they told me that 1 factory alloy Lexus wheel cost about $600!? So, now I'm suppose to sell all four for $250!? Humph, I'll keep them and look at them!

They have 130 mi on them. Bought the vehicle with 12 mi on it; then just drove them from the dealer to my town, to work the next day, then, to the shop to get my chrome rims.

no, I was saying $250 EACH was a decent price. Not all four!. Your original post didn't make it clear that the $250 quote was for the entire set. By the way, you actually have 5, check you spare.

Yeah, the salesman did show me that one...I do have five...I forgot about that one in the trunk (with 0 miles on it). Now, I need to have that one mounted with a chrome rim like the ones I have on my car don't you think?

Since you been in the club for a long time; for how much do you think I ought to try to sell five 2005 Lexus ES 330 Factory Alloy Rims? (One has 0 miles and the other four have 130.) Or do you think I should keep them for some reason? What do you think Steviej?

LOL, Yes Sir, I did read the forum rules ;).

If they had offered me $250 each, I might have taken it. They offered something called a chrome exchange where I give them my new alloy wheels and $850 and they will give me some chrome wheels of my same type! :chairshot: I about blew a gasket! I don't get it.. They tell me that my wheels are worth over $600 a piece; then, they tell me to give them to them pluse $850; then, they will give me some chrome wheels just like mine...duh

  14. Right. You also have to remember that there are FAR more ES's on the road than ANY other Lexus vehicle, with the RX catching up quick. They've sold 80k ES's a year since 1992. Thats a lot of vehicles, sure its going to look like there are more problems on the surface but that changes when you compare it to the number of cars on the road.

You're driving one of the most reliable cars on the road.

Thank you...I believe this...and I am real happy with my car.

  15. Yeah I'm not aware of any of these mechanical problems you're talking about...

Keep in mind when you take information from a forum like this that people either come here because they love their cars, or because they hate their cars. Most owners never come to these forums so its a situation where the things you see discussed here don't occur to MOST people that own the cars...

Is that your car? Its real pretty! I saw that color and almost got it; but, the model the Lexus dealer in my town had did not have the NAV system. So, I got a crystal white...its nice to me...

  16. I am just wondering what are all the problems a 05 ES330 has?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE MY LEXUS ES 330. I was just amazed that on the surface of this ES 330 Forum that there would be this many topics of mechanical failure discussions for Lexus; ie. Transmission Hesitation; 38 responses to Mods & Probs thread; Radio Probs; turn signal probs; Abs sensors failure...

I have not read in all of the threads yet; but, again, I was just amazed that there were any mechanical failures.:cries: You guys just burst my bubble, since I thought (and still do think) that I HAVE THE BEST CAR IN THE ENTIRE WORLD! I LOVE MY LEXUS ES 330!!!

  17. I am so surprised from reading these boards.  I didn't know before I purchased my new 2005 Lexus ES 330 that they had this many mechanical problems.  I pray my does not.

I will say this, if you think Lexus is bad and has lots of problem, never buy a VW. Ford. Dodge, or a GM. You will think Lexus is "god" then.

.....Based on JDP, Lexus is #1 for years ( I think 11)

Now, this is GREAT news! I had a pontiac before, and if I touched something in the vehicle, it would just drop off in my hand. LOL, Shame. I'm happy with my Lexus. The wheel feels so secure in my hands. Pure comfort! I'm really excited about the after the sell comforts! I love my Lexus

  18. I'm going to try to sell my org 17" alloy wheels.  These rim dealers wanted to pay me about $250 for my new Lexus factory alloy wheels, can you believe that they would try to steal from me like that?

Considering the 16" alloys go for $210 (set of 4 for $810) online and the 17" chromes go for $375 each online, I would say that $250 is a fair price for your 17" alloys. Just out of curiosity, how many miles do you have on them right now?

    steviej

Steve, I notice that you are a Mod; what does that "Warn" area w/ the percentages mean at the bottom of my profile?

OH BTW, thank you for responding to my post. :D
