  1. This is outrageous! the bill breaks down like this for OEM lexus struts, work not being done at lexus dealer.

    Parts:

    Front------$336

    Rear------$250

    +7.75%tax= 641.42

    Labor:

    Front:-----$225

    Rear:-----$198

    total labor- $423

    _______________

    total for everything $1054.42

The guys on club lexus gave me a link to Hoy Fox toyota...$250+ shipping for all 4 OEM struts. Looks like I'll be doing this one myself, no biggie.

I could understand paying a decent premium since the shop has to get parts from the local lexus dealer...but $641 vs $275 thats plain outrageous. And $400 to put them on, these guys bill at $85/hr so they want 7 hours to put on some struts, LMAO.

  2. why would you sell a car because it has some problems? What a waste of money. His total cost to make the doors LIKE NEW is less than the tax he'd pay for a new car. Buying a new car is a WASTE.

you can tell the insurance adjuster that someone tried to break into your car and thats why the door is messed up like that. it will cost you whatever your deductible is to have the problem fixed.

  3. if its pinging, why the hell are you flooring it. thats the absolutely worst thing you could do. run 91 until it goes away, then when the tank goes down fill it back up with 89, then when it goes back down to 1/2 fill it back up with 91. thats about the only reasonable plan you could do to save money. you are damaging your lexus putting 87 in it and running it like an idiot.

  4. Hello my windshield wiper arms paint is etched away on the edge and it makes the car look old. I think replacing it would be very hard and pointless, so I want to paint it. Is that realistic, what kind of paint should I use, I want it to be quality not just spray painted. Here is a picture.

It looks kind of like camera flash but its not and I could not get better shot.

    Thanks in advance

the wipers are easy to remove. i dit it myself when i cleaned the cowl area out.(leaves had collected).

lightly sand the wipers with some 400, then 600 grit papers. spray a coat of paint on thinly, let dry. sand with 1000 grit, respray. use a satin black paint.

  5. Well the GS needs a new air filter so i finally figured that after all these years of ignoring it and not putting any performance stuff on it (its slow as *BLEEP* anyways) i might try a Cold air intake.

who sells a nice one? I dont want one of the $50 craptacular fleagay kinds.

Anyone ever change the timing on these things?

i've been running 89 in it fine ever since gas hit $3.00 for premium here. but its all factory timing.

oh and anyone ever think of taking all those mufflers and cats off on these things. it has way too many. How do they sound with the middle resonators removed and only the front cats and back mufflers attached?

anyone make a good exhaust cat-back for these?

my stock grand cherokee ran 14.8's @ 90mph so since gas got expensive i've been driving the lexus, and i cant stand how slow it is.

  6. I'm going to be in the market for a GS300 with around 100k on it in a couple months.  I'm 6'5", and curious if there is much of a different between driver's space in a 1st gen and 2nd gen.  I'm leaning more towards a 93-97, with the considerately lower price, and am coming up short with reasons to get a 98+ (I actually dislike the 1st gen rear lights).

    Is there anything I'm missing?

    Thanks,

    cyphatic

why not get the older one. they still look great and are less money. no brainer.
