  2. I just bought a  pearl white 2005 IS300. I wanted to buy the car with Navigation, but unfotunatly, since the 2006 is coming out. I couldnt find a dealer with a white IS with Nav. The dealer reffered me to an aftermarket company called "Hands Free For You." www.handsfreeforyou.com. The have a pretty intresting product. But it does not have a navigation screen, it is all voice activated.

Has any one seen a product like this? If so does it work well? what are the pros and cons for this.

    Coast is about $2000

Another question for anyone that has strong knowledge in this area.

Is it possible to get the new 2006 navigation put into my 2005?

Any help would be great. I am looking to buy soon, but want to make sure I am doing the right thing.

I work as a consultant for Lexus, for ALL bluetooth/technology/nav issues. and i can tell you that i took over what Handsfeesolutions used to do for Lexus Santa Monica. Anyway...

    1) Look into the Raytel 4000 and find an installer for it, works VERY well. its very very nice and ive used it first hand. best part...$600 installed at some places..look around..

    2) No you cant rig the 06 nav to work in your car. if u really want nav, build a car computer and mount the screen where the stock screen went, www.mp3car.com or install the pioneer aftermarket navi there, some dealers will do it for less than/around $2000..

  3. Ok a bit of a newbie here so I appologize for a basic question.  I have a 95 SC300 and with the basic Pioneer radio.  Now there is an amp on the passenger side of the trunk.  I assumed that was the standard speaker amp, so where is the sub amp located?

Also do you have a wiring diagram for both amps (assuming they are not combined)?

    Thanks.

    Joel

the sub gets its power from the same 40x4 nakamichi amp in the trunk. the sub's plug is by itself, facing the front of the car. The sub output is...well check out www.technicalhelp4u.com

    its all you need.

    EDIT:

im sorry its 1am and i cant read. you have pioneer. your sub amp is located in the rear deck, between the pass speaker and the sub itself. check out the site i said above for more info..

    heh

  4. Alright gents, heres what i did.

I took the knowledge found on this board and tweaked it a little and came up with the following:

JL has introduced a new line called the W1. This sub works a little better than the fosgates discussed here, and I have always been a HUGE JL fan, starting from when i had both the Fosgates and my first W3's in my car within the same week, and the JLs blew the Fosgate's away. Granted the Fosgates were the HE2's...i dont know how good that is. Anyway, I currently have 2 JL 12W6v2's powered by a 500x1 JL amp in my 330ci. It sounds absolutely amazing, and clean and powerful and I love it.

For the SC400 i was looking for something a little less extreme, but still clean and powerful.

I used a JL 10W1 4ohm sub, and created a custom mount for the rear deck, as the pics will show. It did not fit worth a crap without the custom mount i had to make.

Anyway, I also found out that all 4 of my stock speakers were blown, and I replaced them with some Alpine 4"s up front and 6.5"s in the back. These went in rather easily, pretty straight forward there.

    Here are some pics:

    sc41.jpg

    All the stuff

    sc42.jpg

These are the 3 spacers i had to make. 2 are the same, and the last one on the bottom is a rectangle 8.5" x 9" and is the size of the hole for the stock sub. this piece "sits" on that piece of the deck and the rest of the spacers stack on top of it.

    sc43.jpg

    work in progress!

the 4 holes on the outside of the lip line up with the 4 holes for the stock sub anchors.

    amp again.

I took a +12v acc feed from the stock amp, and basically used a high level to RCA adapter and took the signal straight from the connection to the stock sub. i hope that makes sense.

The sub clears the tank with no problem.

This system, is friekin AMAZING. I honestly did not expect such performance from the little 10, but you really will be amazed. it isnt too far off from my "nice" system in the 330ci with the full JL 2 12 W6v2's.

Anyway, I hope this helps someone!

  5. hey guys! well a friend of mine has converted me from nissan land and made me buy a SC400. Ive been lurking on the forum for a few weeks now, and you guys seem awesome. I used to be an avid poster on the freshalloy forums, and have had many 240sx's in the past. Anyway, since i was putting too many miles on my 2001 330Ci, I bought the SC400 as a daily driver.

its a 1992, black and clean! 116k on the clock, so shes still 'new' haha. I used to work for a lexus dealership also, and will see what i can do to get you guys group buys on stuff.

    anyway heres the fun stuff:

    1) has anyone figured out how to make the pre 94 SCs beep when locking? if not, ill just have to disect the wiring harness and see if i can tap into something.

    2) when the climate control is on auto, it never seems to "calm down". the BMW will start high, and as it gets colder inside, lower the fan speed. the lexus on the other hand never switches modes nor does it lower the fan speed MUCH when in auto, it will lower the speed a little, but not much. what do you think? I have it set to 72degrees, and when i started freezing, i took it to 75, didnt help much. does the inside temp sensor go back on these things? please advise.

    3) i was reading the manual, and it said if i follow schedule B that the timing belt wont need replacement. seems rather odd to me, but i swear thats what it implies. I have never had a belt before...is this thing an interference motor?

    thanks guys!
