  1. The other thing that sucks about run flats is that your local tire shop in general is not going to be able to fix a flat.  The dealer has to do it for about $300 (at least that's the case with BMW).  I've heard a lot of people recommending the tire insurance which runs about $400 for 3-4 years.  It will pretty much pay for itself with one flat.

It's a shame that full size spares aren't still an option in all cars.  I would certainly not mind paying more for one.

Not true, dealer fixed nail puncture in run flat for $35. Repair and ride is perfect.

  2. Run flats are a bit noisy but if you want a tire that has amazing road feedback they are amazing for that.

As the sidewall is so stiff it returns  corners to the steering wheel with precision.

I did not know this, thats very interesting SK.

'06 GS 300AWD comes standard w/run flats. I've been told by the dealer to expect 18-24K max life on the tread. Car does seem to handle very well, but the ride is a bit hard. 3 days after I bought the car, I picked up a nail, the tire presure warning light came on, I was able to drive the car home 25 miles on the run flats at 60MPH w/no prob. So, there is def something to be said about not having to change a flat. I'll decide whether or not to stick w/run flats when I'm ready for new tires.

  3. I recently purchased a new 2006 GS 300 AWD.  Whenever I reach speeds in excess of 55mph on the freeway, it sounds like the sunroof is open and air is leaking.  I have had the dealer look at it and they say it is fine.  It is definitely louder than any other (non-Lexus) car I have owned and feel it should be quieter than this - especially in a Lexus.  Has anyone else had a problem like this?

I also just purchased the same car. No noise at all from sunroof. Have had the car to 90 MPH.

  4. Just purchased a new '06 GS300 AWD w/Nav. Car seems to be awesome. Only complaints I have is (1) no trunk light?? (2) run flat tires are fine on smooth road surface but seem to take the big bumps hard.

Would love to hear from other new '06 GS300 AWD owners on how they like the car.

  5. I recently bought an '06 GS300 AWD and love the vehicle with one BIG exception and this is the low beam HID lights.  They are aimed extremely low and provide very poor front illumination.  I have driven HID/Xenon cars for over five years and find these type of lights to be exceptional.  The GS clearly has a problem with the aiming of these lights.  I had the vehicle to the delaer who said the lights are aimed as high as Lexus would allow and offered nothing more.  A call to Lexus customer service yielded nothing as they deferred to the dealer.  I opened a complaint with NHTSA and would encourage anyone else with this issue to do so as maybe then we can get some resolution.
