  1. Again, I have a 2001 rx300 AWD and would love to get a copy of the service manual. PDF would be the best download, but what ever I can get to work would be fine. I already tried the 7-zip to no avail, would not open. thanks again for putting out the word. KIMO

    kimo...

Did you ever get hold of a 2001 RX300 service manual?

    thx

    Russ

Did you get 2001 manual? Please post. Thanks.

  2. I have a 2003 Rx 300 and my check engine and VSC and Trac Off lights came on. I went to Auto Zone and here are the codes that came up:

    P2A00: O2 Bank Sensor/Range/Perf.

P0442: EVAP Emission Control/System Leak (small)

P0446: EVAP Emission Control/System Vent Circuit Malfunction

The guy at Auto Zone told me that the 442 and 446 were from a bad gas cap not venting properly and I bought a replacement cap for $9. He said that the P2A00 was an O2 Sensor/Upstream/Drivers Side and that I could first take it off and clean it with brake cleaner to get off any build up and that would probably fix it.

So my questions...Where is this O2 sensor located and has this been anyone's experience with this problem.

Also, is the EVAP problem related to the gas cap and will my replacement cap fix this problem?

Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Hal

How many mile is on yours? There are three sensors on my 2001, two air fuel ratio and one O2. the air fuel ratio sensor is last about 90K, however, the one in the back of fire wall engine is usually goes off around 80K because the heat, the one in front is around 100K.

I never heard anyone has problem with O2. Anyway, attached is picture of O2 sensor that located after manifold.

I have 2001 RX300 and had check engine and VSC light on before. The air fuel ratio sensors that caused this problem, one sensor is located at front of engine and other at the back, see attached pictures. Make sure that you replace with sensor from Denso, all other such Bosch is never work with Lexus. The price for these sensors is around $145.00 on line.

    Good luck

  4. The light goes on and off because your auto leveling system system may not be getting a good reading from the sensor at times. You're leveling system may work OK if your sensor isn't too corroded inside.

If you want to verify that you're sensor is corroded or not.

    1. Mark the position of the height sensor linkage before removing it.

    2. Remove the height sensor from your vehicle.

    3. There are four phillips screws that hold the main cover on the sensor. Remove those screws and lightly pry the cover off.

You'll notice that there are three springs inside. If there is any corrosion at all inside, the sensor should be replaced. I haven't come in to any sensors that I could try to clean successfully without issues.

Sorry if my directions for removal are vague. I think there might be a write up somewhere on this forum to remove it. :)

    Good Luck...

Oh and let me know if you need a "well-fed" wife to sit on your bumper... I might have one hangin around...:lol:

Thanks for some infos. If anyone have any picture or instruction of how to replace the sensor, please post.

Regarding to "well-fed wife", Yes, I do need one. Is there any charge?

  5. Like GDixon said... More than likely the right rear headlight aim height sensor. Just because you're in the New England, the salt likes to corrode the insides of this sensor and cause it to seize and sometimes break the linkage. Lexus dealerships in Massachusetts replace these sensors all the time. Not uncommon. I hope you're still under warranty because I think the cost of these sensors are around $300+. They're very easy to install if you want to do it yourself.

First, Thanks to all for some advices. I looked and checked my car headlight, they're moving up and down while parking on slope and start the key. This means the auto leveling system is seem to be working, isn't it? The light still comes on in dash board and goes off after driving awhile.

    Any advice is alway appreciated.

  6. could you guys please send me the manual in pdf format. my email is vteg6@yahoo.com. thanks

i need a repair manual for 2001 rx300, please email me if possible.

do you have the manual yet? please give me a link. Need 01-RX300 as well. Thanks

  7. I have an '01 RX300 purchased new and it has outstanding maintenance records. It has 95k miles. My wife was driving it and she said the check engine and VSC lights suddenly appeared at the same time. The owners manual doesn't say much except bring to Lexus dealer immediately. I took the vehicle for a drive and everything seems to be working just fine.

So I need some help understanding what I'm in for when I bring the vehicle for service? What do these lights represent? Thank you in advance.

I had same problem just 3 week ago on my 2001 RX300 at 98K mile. I bought OBD scan code, $89.00 at Amazon.com with free shipping now, and scan the trouble code. I don't remember the code, however, it shows me that I have air fuel ratio A/F sensor malfunction. Ordered one from Rockauto.com, $157.00 then got local garage to replace for $40. Total cost was around $200.00. This is better than the quote from Lexus dealer $650.00. Make sure you order sensor from Denso which is Toyota / Lexus OEM, from Bosh or other will not work properly.

There are 3 sensors in RX300, 2 A/F sensor one is in front of engine and one is in back fire wall, and one O2 sensor located after manifolded. These A/F sensors are last about 100K mile.

I have some pictures or if you need more help, email me at simba2k@yahoo.com. Good luck.
