  1. Well, I am a newbie here but not to my 2000 LX470.. :) I Love it. It just turned over 100,000 miles yesterday.

Anyway, I also LOVE my music. The only thing that disapointed me about the LX470 was the sound system. I thought Nakkamichi was supposed to be super high end. The speakers sound dull and the eject/load 6 cd changer is a PITA. Last week it got jammed. I searched this forum thoroughly but no complete answers to the question of alternatives were available.

I went to a reputable car audio dealer and when he removed it , it showed that it had been repaired before therefore making a refurbished unit. He said like many others on this forum that it sucks and it will happen again. The estimated cost of repair is $275 +/-. The estimated cost of a brand new one (with the same lousy engineering) is $2000 !!! I just refuse to believe that there are no other options than the Pioneer which essentially the same thing and I am not sure it wil fit the 2000 model.

I will spare you my ranting and raving and just hope some one out there has some ideas or even knows of some one that might really know their stuff!

    Thanks so much!

Go to crutchfield.com They should have a replacement stereo for you, and you can even install it yourself .

  2. I have a 1998 Lexus LX470, while trying to remove the CD which was stuck in the cd player, i messed up the whole unit and after showing a professional repairer, he told me that i need to replace the whole unit. Does anyone know where is the best and cheapest place to buy a new car stereo. I want the exact same model which came with my car. It is showing "LEXUS" on the Panel.

Crutchfield.com has a great selection of stereos and DIY instructions, although I doubt you can get an OEM stereo from them.

  3. Is there a replacement CD changer (or a DVD changer) for 97 LX450 that will fit where the OEM one is located. Is there one that will fit in the glove compartment? What is the favorite aftermarket changer to replace the OEM one? Which is the most likely place it gets installed?

    Thanks.

    Options

    Go to crutchfield.com and DIY.

    Good Luck

  4. Ok, have mercy on a technologically challenged chick, please!

I downloaded the directions from the other thread about reprogramming a remote (which I bought off Ebay, same FCC ID, etc).  But what the heck is the ECU and where the heck is it?

I tried the ON position to make the LED come on (which happens with my orig dying remote) but nothing happens with the new remote.  Going back and re-reading the alarm manual, it appears Im supposed to push a button on this 'ECU' that I have no clue where/what it is. :censored:

Can anyone spell out what I'm supposed to do?  My LX450 is a 97, if that makes a difference on the location of the 'ECU'.  My dealer says my chip is going bad on my remote, but they wanted $250 for a new one, plus $80 to reprogram it.  I'm not stupid, I know I can reprogram myself, but don't know where the alarm brain is on my vehicle.

    Anyone?  Anyone?  Bueller, Bueller?

    TIA - Roo

Follow this link. It will totally hook you up on how to deal with resetting your remote. The ECU is under the driver's seat. Hope this helps.
