Glad you got it resolved for such a small amount of money. Keep us posted on how this fix continues to hold up for you. This thread can help others save some considerable money as well. Nice job.
Will do RX in NC!

I found the receipt for the flex pipe it is a generic 2 inch flexible connection and can be ordered from any muffler shop, looks the ones on Honda. Cost was $65 and labor for the remainder of the $105 dollor total.
Glad I checked the forum on this! My RX300 had the loud exhaust sound described here. Local Toyota said it was flex pipe and they didn't have the part but Lexus was closed (Sat.) so they couldn't give me a price. I called Lexus and got a quote of $270 just for parts! Local Muffler Man franchise installed stainless steel Honda style mesh flex pipe with 1 year warranty for $96.

I was wondering what ages you guys/gals are in this forum who own and personally drive your rx300. I just feel like an outcast because i am a 21 year old male who drives an rx300...I feel that, typically, people of my age are in sports cars from honda civics to 3 series bimmers.
by the way, the other alternative to my rx300 was the 3.2 TL type-S...i loved the feel/comfort of the rx300 as soon as i sat in the seat compared to the TL.
I'm a 42 yo male. Bought my 2000 RX300 for my 40th Bday. I'm a 6'3" 225 lb. straight, single guy. It's a bit smallish for me but it's definitely comfortable. It's been jokingly referred to as a chick car but I'm keeping it for awhile anyway. A lot more comfortable than my '98 4Runner was.

My 2000 RX300 had the same prob. Took lazy approach and took it to local Toyota and had them disconnect lead and leave antenna in up position. They charged $35. They did mention that it would be tough to manually raise and lower...so I just leave it up. Doesn't look too great but it works for now!

I recently bought a 2000 RX300. I've discovered that if its sitting out during a rain, water drips inside from near the hinges for the rear gate. This has obviously gone on for a while because there's a slight rusting on the hinge bolts. Local dealer wants to charge $99 just to look at it. Has anyone had this problem?
2000 Rx300 Water Leak
in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300

KAOS, I bought a 2000 RX300 in Dec. '04 with 37,000 miles. I noticed a similar leak problem in the rear cargo area. It only happens with a heavy, prolonged rain when vehicle is sitting still. I was only able to determine that it's coming from up high near the hinges and must have been going on for awhile because there was slight rust on the bolt heads for the hinges. I took it to Lexus and they wanted $99 just to look at it. Since I have a rubber cargo mat in that area anyway and it seldom happens, I just decided not to worry about it. If you find the cause...let me know!
