I just peeled mine off yesterday. I have a 1999 RX and they were starting to peel anyway. Right now, it looks much better. However, the adhesive left behind is noticeable. Is there any solvent that I can use to get the adhesive off? If not, my preference is taking them off. Even with the adhesive showing, it looks much better.

I have a 1999, AWD model with 110K miles on it. Engine and tranny still smooth. I would recommend in a heartbeat.

I have a 99 RX and live in Vermont. It was -6 degrees this week. My RX takes about 3-5 minutes to get into 3rd and overdrive. I talked with Lexus folks about this years ago and they said basically that's normal for an RX and there's nothing they can do about it. The RX has been such a good car for me, I just live with it. 15 minutes seems excessive though. Sorry I can help more.

Got the correct struts and installed them in 15 minutes. And yes, the hatch springs up like new, and rests at a higher level. No more near concussions after banging my head on the lip of the hatch anymore. Thanks for your help!!

Thanks for your help Paul. I found out why I was having trouble. Partsbylou.com did not include the brackets where the ball goes into and attaches to the hatch. I'll be getting these brackets next week. That should help! ;)

Just bought replacement hatch struts at autopartsbylou.com for my 1999 RX. I don't know how the old ones come off at the ball section of the strut. It's a metal ball enclosed in a metal housing and I cant find a way to get it out. The replacement struts I got did not come with a body mount at the ball section. It came with a clip to secure the ball after insertion into the housing. I don't think prying the ball out of the old housing is the correct procedure and a hacksaw certainly is not. Did I get the incorrect struts or am I missing something?

I've got a 99 RX300. Bought new hatch stuts but can't get the oldd ones off. How do I get the old ones off???

I have a 99 RX300 with 101k miles. Best car I ever owned. Just did the 100k timing belt and water pump change. Engine and tranny no problems, runs like a dream, and still looks great. I'm looking to drive this till 175k which seems very reasonable.

I've got a 99 RX300 with the same problem. My RX has several of these type annoyances, but overall with 100K of troublefree miles, I overlook these as quirks and enjoy all that is good with the RX. I will be looking to see if anyone else has a proposed fix for this, though. Sorry.

1999 RX just turned 100K. Runs like the day I bought it! Debating on a timing belt change. It runs so good I hate to have any work done on it for fear that someone messes it up.

My 99 headlights have the typical "hazy" frosting that plagues many of us. I saw on eBAY new replacement headlights for about $150. Instead of buffing my old headlights till my arms fall off, any maybe getting decent results, I thought $150 was a good price for sparkling new headlights. Are the replacement of 99 headlights a DIY project or do I have to take the bumper off, etc.? I've read some horror stories about the difficulty of this. What's the truth and are there any instructions out there.

I have a 1999 RX300 and have a buzzing noise (vibration) coming from behind the multi-display screen on the center console. I did a lot of research on this and determined that it was metal on metal vibration coming from the radio mounting. I even found a "fix" to this problem on another website (Toyota forum, Edmunds forum,etc.) but like a fool, I lost the website where I found the fix and now I can't find it again. Has anyone seen this fix? It was a .pdf and basically used felt pads to buffer the metal on the radio mounting to keep it from buzzing.

I have all the other dash rattles that owners have complained of but I need to tackle this buzzing first before I go crazy. Any help would be appreciated very much!!!
