  1. Okay Guys and Gals I have a crazy question, my exterior driver door handle is cracked :cries: , and needs to be replaced(fairly simple procedure...had to replace 2 door lock actuators :geek: )... but now here comes the tricky part everybody wants to charge more for that particular handle than any of the other doors :censored: ... so my question is can the handle itself be removed from the housing and reinserted to the correct housing and have it work  ??? I had to do some modifications on the door lock actuators similar to this to make them work???

I would love some input on this ;)

  2. 93-97 should be basically the same. 98&up will require replacing harness and ECU, I believe. If it was me I'd  do the 2jz-gte motor from a 93-97 aristo, you'll have to do ECU and harness as well.  The gs4 motor would be cool as it's not done very often, however the GTE would give you more options later on. With the price of gas these days and the future of it, you may want to stick a 4 cylinder corolla motor in there

I agree stick with the corolla engine!!!! 30mpg vs 17mpg and the looks you get when you pop the hood

  3. Looks like a great car... based on watching 1st Gen. prices for a while you got a good deal.  I've been looking for a '95-'97 in central Florida and keep a close watch on ebay and other sites...

Good luck with the car and keep us posted on what mods you do!

    Russ

I bought my 93 off of ebay also but had to go to PA to get it, but it was one owner, and was serviced regularly by the local lexus dealer(timing belt, waterpump done at 121k)... no rust... hard to believe... keep the faith there is one for you

  4. Well I just got me a 93 GS300 has 129k on it for 5600 so I think you have done well... be sure to check all of your hoses I just replaced all of mine.... I also suggest that you go to the web address here buy a 1 day subscription and download the repair manual pdf... will save you a lot of $$$$$$$$ if you can do it yourself.... http://techinfo.lexus.com

For the Service History you can do like I did went to see the service advisor at the local Lexus Dealership and have them pull the VIN # up and see what has been done to the car.

    Hope these help you

  5. I agree DO NOT BUY IT... I just bought a 94 ls400 for 4900.00 with 102k one owner all the service records.... and just got a 93 gs300 for 5600.00 two owner all the service records with 129k miles(was hard to find)... but it took time and alot of looking... for these cars. your on the right track by searching these forums for the info you need!!!

  6. Well folks I just sold one of my LS400 to purchase a 1993 GS300, I am fairly new to this car, and was wondering on what to look out for on it(ie. problems ect.) Like I said it is a 1993 with 130k on it gave 5800.00 for the car.The exterior looked ROUGH when I bought it (PA Car), the interior was fairly clean execpt for the carpet. I paid a local detail shop to clean the car up and now it looks new. Mechanically it seems fine timing belt changed at 122k by lexus dealer. Just was wondering on any advice from you. B)
  7. Well let me add my 2 cents on the matter as a owner of both a 92 and 94 ls 400, I pefer to drive the 94.. much better ride, not that there is anything wrong with the 92.

1992 ls400 paid 4700.00 had 165k on it when I bought it. fixing to sell it for 6495.00 or best offer,(wife wants a 94 gs300)

1994 ls400 paid 5900.00 had 101k and I am the second owner, would not sell it.

if you look long enough and hard enough the good ones will find you.
