Thank you, when i got this little RX it was just a backup rig bit since i vdone some work to it I'm really loving it up here in alaska. Adding some 235/70r16 a/ts made a huge difference. The previous all season tires did not cut the mustard for alaskan winters.

    any photos?

Hi guys, I just recently got RX 300 and I'm very pleased with my purchase! It is project car that I will work on it to make it off road beast. I would like to ask you for information regarding lift kit installation. I just ordered this lift kit https://risingtuning.com/lift-kits/product-989?id_car_mark=99&id_car_model=1029&id_car_generation=108448 and I'm wondering if anyone could give me some tips regarding installation. Is it difficult? Maybe someone from this group could be so kind to briefly explain to me how do I put them on? I'd much appreciate your help! Any video tutorial is also welcome.

    Thank you

    M

    are you also getting spacers?

how does it affect ride quality?

The largest optional tire size on gen 1 I believe is 235/70R16. I have a set of cooper discoverer at3 4s in that size on my gen 1. Some people here might have fit 245 but probably with some light rubbing.

You could also go taller instead of wider, to 225/75R16 but you’ll get pretty close to the rear spring perches. They should still fit though.

Thanks! I will look at some AT tires in 235/70 or 225/75

I would definitely say go wider. You want your rims protected as much as possible also helps with grip.

    Thank you

i have no problem going wider

do we know what is max size i can fit - width and tall and order a set of ko2 tires, on stock suspension and stock wheels?

  5. My 2001 I am offroading it quite a bit, and also am using it some snow.

For me, having wider tires isn't as important, as a bit taller tire, and more aggressive.

I was thinking of going with BF Goodrich k02 or some WildPeaks AT3 or something like that

Would you guys recommend staying with 225, and going higher sidewall, OR going narrower 215 or fatter 235?

Mine is AWD, and stock suspension and stock wheels

Guys, I absolutely love this thread. I've been trying to find an RX300 for weeks now and I might be picking one up tomorrow if the sale goes through. I just had a question for you guys, I am absolutely terrified of having a catastrophic transmission failure at some point. The one I'm looking at has 170k 2003 single owner, anything I should look for specifically?

I also plan on throwing on some big tires and a lift. 🙂

Mine is original owner. Just routine maintenance. 186k Miles. 0 issues.

Does anyone know what his wheel specs and tires are? Most importantly, I know he is obviously lifted as he stated earlier in the forum but I don't think he's on here much to reply. I'm wondering if his wheel and tire setup would work on a stock suspension with no lift and whether it would clear front and rear struts. Kev Ho old rx300 rig used to run 16x8 with a +18 offset. I'm hoping to run something similar 16x8 but with a +0 offset on stock height and struts. I hoping to find answers as I don't want a lift or do spacers. Trying to keep it stock height but clear my struts and fender. Thanks.

Let me know if you find the answer to your question. I am in Los Angeles. Where in CA are you?

If I was doing it again I would go with the 40mm shock spacer instead of how I made my own spring lift. You will for sure need the camber bolts in the front if not two pair for even more adjustment. I think my single set of bolts was completely maxed.

I went 245 but would also go down to the 235. Not sure how those fit as I was running a 2" spacer on stock wheels..

Can't wait to see it when you get it figured out!

I thought I saw mine out in the wild the other day... couldn't confirm but it looks like all they did was swap out the wheels as it was still a little high... man that thing was tuned up and would scream.. I do miss it..lol

Thank you for the help! Yours looked awesome. your GX is nice too. We have a TT FJC for hard core offroad. For me, the RX did to traverse some farm road, and some ice/skiing in the winter. Otherwise just school duty.

The 40MM shock spacer needs 4 new shocks right? I saw your shocks blew, do you have other shock recomendation?

I will stay with the 235s.

Mine was bought new in Johnson Lexus in Raleigh, and serviced there last 17 years by my parents.

  9. Love this thread. Had to join the forum.

I inherited a 2003 RX300. I want to put some AT 235/70/16 and was researching if it will rub on stock. Of course that led me here and now I am debating the 40mm Russian lift.

@Eddy23 truck looks perfect to me. But to have that look I have to get new 16x8 wheels with 0 offset as he has.

@Nssbnz truck also looks fantastic. He also has new wheels. Also he said on his post you need to buy 4 new shocks for the 40mm lift.
