  1. Hi. I also have an error code 3 problem. I tried the battery reset several times but still get the error code. I believe the one remaining CD is jammed. Does anyone have any advice for hor to remove it?

Good ol' error 3 is back...

Are you guys using CD-R? Unfortunately, the lexus cd player is crap and burned CDs do get stuck in the changer....this causes error3. I had to have my changer replaced because of that...cost me only 500bucks. After argueing with lexus and my dealership I only paid 150.

Anyways, if you use CD-R, get the high quality stuff for audio professionals. Those do not get affected by the heat in the cd player... (have you ever noticed: the stereo gets damn hot...stick your finger into the cassette slot and feel...) Cheap crappy CD-R discs can not stand that kind of heat...

  2. Hi everyone....

Is there a new SC in the plans? Any pics? Data?

    David

    Hi

Rumors say we will get a SC460 (new engine of LS460) in 2008 as a 2009 model. Could be a full 4-seat hardtop convertible (similar to BMW 6); this would surely add up on the price tag. I have also heard about a second engine version: SC500 with the engine of the IS-F.

I think we can all look forward to the new SC. I still like mine...also the design. But technic-wise Lexus can do a lot more.

  3. If your dealer replaced the filter he probably cleaned out any debris that existed so the smell must be coming from another source. I have had this problem on other cars, the problem on those vehicles turned out to be mold in the evaporator unit.

On both cases, the evaporator had to be removed and cleaned.

Now, I have heard of people who have contacted people that do "Environmental Cleaning" for houses that have mold. Supposedly there is some chemical that can be sprayed right into the AC vents that will kill ALL mold. I have never tried it and it sounds scary but it would be nice if it worked!

    Hi

I had the same problem. You need to service the A/C: I am astonished that the lexus dealer just changed the filter. Toyota has a special A/C cleaning spray to be sprayed into the A/C vents that will eliminate all mold and germs...then the odor will be gone. This is a common problem with all A/Cs due to weather conditions, humidity etc.

  4. yea 290 a piece sounds about right.

Thanks for your comments. I went to my dealer to have a look at the set up plans. For the upgrade you require the complete lamp housing, new wiring for each side and an orange 7440 turn light bulb. You simply have to change the bulb sockets and attach a connector for the Led. Seems rather easy... All together cost me USD 195.- per side. Wiring has to be ordered from Japan though...takes 2-4 weeks.

That's a pretty good price. Did you get both the upper and lower lights? The new ones do sit differently and there will be a gap if you do not get the top housing too. I don't know about the cars in Europe, but the US cars will get the "lamp out" indicator when you do the swap. The load from the LEDs and the old bulbs are different so it confuses the car.

I did the conversion yesterday and I must say it is a real upgrade to the car. The Leds look really great! I had to do some wire cutting but that was very easy.

Good point about the gap. I only bought the lower lamp housing and have this gap now. Will get the upper housing tomorrow (its not a light though, just a red plastic). That will cost another 50 USD per side which brings the total to 250. Seems rather weird that this red plastic thing costs more than 50 bucks each...

And yes, the lamp out sign is on. Could be fixed with load resistors...wouldn't recommend that though as they become very hot and I wouldnt want to risk finding my SC burned down one day :cries:

I also can recommend the PIAA mirror orange turn light bulbs. They are cool...

    Cheers

  5. Currently I drive an Audi TT but, with my second child growing up, now need a rear seat.

I am looking for a three-seater, me and two kids. If I slide the passenger seat up, is there enough room for one kid in the back and one in the front?

I love the looks of the SC430 -- but tell me about the backseat, please!

    Hi

If you can put your child into a child seat in the back it's no problem. If he/she is too old for a child seat I wouldn't recommend as it will be rather uncomfortable sitting in the back seat. However, there will be enough room if you slide the passenger seat up.

Maybe you want to check with your local Lex dealer...

    Cheers

  6. Hi

Has anyone of you replaced the front "L" emblem with the Soarer Lion emblem?

Is it possible to do the replacement without modifying the grille?

I also noticed that on eBay different soarer emblems are sold: one red and a bigger one in chrome...not sure which one is for the SC430.

    Thanks for the help.

  8. Hi

As you know, the new 2006 SC430 comes with remodelled tail lights including LED. As far as I know the housing is exactly the same so that you should be able to replace the old style tail light with the new 2006 tail light. L-tuned parts offers this upgrade for 290 USD per side which seems to be rather expensive.

I thought about ordering the new LED tail lights at my local Lex dealer, but I am not sure what I actually have to order: I assume I need some new wiring as well... has anyone got an idea?

I have got the set up scheme of both the older tail light and the 2006 version in a word doc. If anyone needs this, just send me a PM.

    Thanks for your help!

  9. Hi

I have a 2002 SC430 and recently equipped it with an Injen Air Intake. Great Sound...!

My bordcomputer shows quite an increase of gas usage (+15%). I thought the air intake could even reduce gas...

Some one here who can help?

    Thanks

The cool new sound from your intake may have triggered your brain to mash your foot against gas pedal more than usual. Moreover, it has been known that this effect also occurs after having a new performance exhaust system put in. Try to keep your foot out of it.

    Good answer. Thanks.

  11. Can't believe I didn't find it earlier but here is an old thread that contains links I provided to threads in other forums where someone has used an external speaker with a Parrot:  http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...17417&hl=Parrot

Thanks everyone for your help! In the meantime my Parrot kit is installed and works perfectly with an external speaker. Recommended!

    Cheers

Ma$e, did you wire the speaker yourself?? If so, was it difficult. Please explain the hook up.

    Hi

No, my Lex dealer did it...If you are not a professional I wouldn't recommend to do it yourself as the Parrot kit works with ISO connectors.

    Cheers
