  1. Using Motorola Mpx220 Smartphone with my '05 GX.  Only glitch is can only transfer a single contact at a time into the cars phonebook.  Otherwise it works great.  Service through any GSM (Cingular, TMobile, ATT)

Thanks- The local Cingular stores in my area said the MPX220 was being discontinued and they could not get ahold of one-so Im using a Motorola V551, which connects to the 05-GX470 just fine. Transfering 1 phone book entry at a time is a pain, but it seems all the cell phones Ive read about on line have this inconvience also. :whistles:

  2. Just wondering?  Seems to me for 50K, they should come with this.

I agree with you- my old 1999 GMC truck had automatic folding mirrors and they came in handy, used quite abit at drive thrus, atm machines, etc. because the mirrors stuck out quite a distance from the car, just like the GX470. At least Lexus made it possible to MANUALLY move the mirrors in, but it would be nice to see it as a automatic feature on future GX's :whistles:

  3. Never tried it.  I'll try it next time.  I was using the wireless headphones w/ my PS2.  I agree, it would be pretty annoying to hear PS2 over the car speakers.  But what if you are hooking up a camcorder or something?  Then you would want to hear it.  I can't wait to go home and try it out.

Thanks- I couldn't seem to make it work. If you come up with a successful combination on the audio panel to make gaming audio over the car speakers, please let me know :cries:

  4. Not the Moon roof- The DRIVERS WINDOW & FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW. Air noise around the forward portion of the windows where the mirrors are located only at highway speeds and with all interior climate fans off, youll hear air leaking noise. The moon roof is A-OK.

Ok, I have never heard an air LEAKING noise around my front windows, just the wind rush noise at highway speeds. I think the wind rush comes from the mirrors and is normal. An air leaking noise would NOT be normal at all.

Thanks for the reply-Its not leaking air I heard, hard to describe!!! But was surprised to hear ANYTHING in this fine vehicle!!! Take care.

  5. :D Has anyone played video games on their Rear DVD Screen. We hooked up the (Game Cube) system for the kids and it works flawlessly. I was surprised the 7" screen is adequate size wise to view & play games. QUESTION- Could not hear the game audio over the CAR SPEAKERS, we had to hook up separate headphones for the game players to the rear audio panel so game audio could be heard. Its probally designed this way, do you really want to hear all the games bings & bongs over the car speakers while driving, I dont!! But it would be nice to know if- GAMING AUDIO COULD BE HEARD OVER THE CAR SPEAKERS. Anyboby tryed to play game audio over the speakers????

  6. just want to make a survery, kinda lazy to make a poll, but i want to know if any other GX owner out there has any rattling that comes from the moonroof. I noticed it just like 2 months ago (after having it for 2 years) and when i press on the moonroof, it makes the rattle sound. anyway to fix it???

NOTHING like this on my 05-GX470- Perfectly quite as of yet-Hope it stays that way, that kinda stuff will drive you BONKERS! :cries:

  7. Are you talking about noise with the moonroof open?  If so, move your roof rack bars back, they make a lot of wind noise.  Either way, this should cut down on a lot of noise.

  8. :pirate: HELP,

Need advise on what PDA or POCKET PC type phone will work great with the 2005 GX470 nav unit. Anyone out there that has had luck with one of these phone types? If so, please list the phone type & the carrier that has your phone. Thanks :cries:

Just purchased a V551 phone to work with the GX. Could not find a PDA style phone that would mate well with the Hands Free system in the GX. It seems that all the PDA style phones I tryed, would either be recognized by the Lexus Bluetooth system & not transfer any phone book entries OR not be recognized at all by the cars Bluetooth. So, for Now- CINGULAR-Motorola V551 Bluetooth Flip Phone will have to suffice till the Bluetooth Market stabilizes and becomes more user friendly. The V551 Phone

1- Will mate with the GX-470 (2005) Bluetooth Nav unit

2- You can send & receive calls through the Nav unit & cars speakers.

3- You can transfer 1-phone book entry at a time (still playing with this)

4- Haven't figured out yet if the Nav unit allows inputing stored phone numbers MANUALLY- I dont think this is a option? If someone has more info on inputing a phone number MANUALLY & STORING IT, would sure like to know how!!!!

    :chairshot:

! piece of ADVICE- If considering a bluetooth phone-

Take the car to the Cell Phone place, and have the salesmen bring a SECOND phone with him to the car along with the phone your thinking of buying. He'll use his second phone to test receiving & sending calls from the New Phone through the Cars Bluetooth. Also have him input some phone numbers in the phone you want to buy & see if it will transfer the phone numbers to the cars Nav unit. I drove numerous salesmen crazy I'm sure, but when I got home I knew what I was getting!!!!

  9. Does anybody know where I can buy Lexus GX470 leather seat covers?  There are really nice leather seat covers available for what seems like every car except the GX470.  Anybody found a source?

    Thanks.

        frank@mcgorman.com

I was looking for seat covers for my 2005 GX470 also, but quickly found out that you shouldn't cover the front seats due to the enclosed air bags in the seats themselves. That shot down the seat cover option for me anyway!!!

  10.   The 1-thing noted about my vehicle before acceptance was air type NOISE around the drivers window & passenger window originating in the forward portion of the window at highway speeds.

I just took mine on a 4,000 mile cross country trip to Phoenix and back, and did notice some wind rush noise. I think it originates with the outside mirrors. I didn't find it objectionable, and I'm not sure what could be done about it if I did. Not a problem in my book.

Thanks-wasn't sure if it was a problem ONLY with my vehicle!!! Not enough noise

to be a problem, I agree, but it was a noticable noise with the air circulation fans off, which I didn't expect to hear in a car such as a Lexus.

Not a sound from my 2005-GX470 sun roof so far- only 100 miles old though

  12. Can I get the Sport Model with the dark interior.  My dealer in NJ says they are only being built with the light tan interior.  Thanks

    Bill

Just took delivery of the 2005 SPORT PKG with dark grey interior- LOOKS SHARP..

  13. Is it just me or did it take you a really long time to get used to the navigation on the es330? I have no problem on the rx's but this ES; ughhhh.... My wife has no problem, my 14 year old daughther loves it!! I feel so dumb!! Why is it that the younger generations "get" things as we so called "older" people don't LOL  And i'm only in my early 40's  ;)

If the nav unit you have is anything like the GX470 unit, your right, its not user friendly.

I consider my a quick learner concerning computer & electronics, and seldom have to open the book on operating a unit. I found that reading the book on the GX470 NAV (and all the car tibits for that matter) is a must, and once you do, while practicing with the unit everytime you drive, itll become easy and enjoyable. It is an impressive unit with lots of capabilities Ive found.

  14. Thanks for the reply on the Problems to watch out for on the 2005 GX470.

The vehicle has been purchased- 100 miles on it, and nothing but satisfaction so far. I did extensive research before buying and did note previous problems with clunking & vibration in the earlier models of the GX470 but none reported for the 2005 model year. Hopefully this will be the case. The 1-thing noted about my vehicle before acceptance was air type NOISE around the drivers window & passenger window originating in the forward portion of the window at highway speeds. It is only noticable with all air circulation fans off, because with a fan on, you dont notice it. Not a big problem for me, but maybe a design issue that should be addressed in future models. A note to mention, I had the Nav screen bypassed

so front seat passenger can view DVD movies while driving, it took 30 min and cost 100.00 at a local sound store. A small price to pay for the added enjoyment gained.
