it only vibrates from about 70-75, i think it is not the wheels because the vibration changes depending upon whether i am accelerating or coasting with no throttle. The tires are badly worn and i will be replacing them anyway. at the moment i am considering the driveshaft replacement with center bearing from driveshaftstore.com for $397.00. Lexus wants over $800. Any suggestions?

My 1992 sc 400 virbates severely at 70 mph, suspecting the Universal joint in the driveshaft, but my local lexus dealer says i can only buy the whole shaft assembly with all the seals and center support bearing for over $800. where can i get just the universal joint?

hey all this is my first post, just got a sc 400 yesterday. here are the specs and problems so far:

1992 lexus sc 400

129k

timing belt changed at 67k ( but in 1997 i might add)

tires are worn badly

MOST SEVERE PROBLEM: Shakes BADLY at 70-75, when not accelerating, let me explain.

It does NOT vibrate when revving in neutral when not moving, does not vibrate when accelerating hard from 0-85, BUT, if i take my foot off the pedal from 65-75, the car starts shaking quite badly, and the shifter rocks backand forth maybe 1/2" 1".

Any advice?

I am suspecting either C/V joints in the rear axles, transmission mount, less likely but possibly engine mount, and/or drive shaft C/V joint?
