  1. HI, I recently had a battery problem. MY wife likes to listen to the radio while she eats her lunch rather than eat in MDs or where ever. My car would not start so she called me to come check it out. When I got there, sure enought, would only turn over slowly, then not at all. While I was waiting for AAA. I was checking out the lights, radio etc. I do not have Nav, but as far as the radio, heater controls, and anything in that area, it would only work intermitenly. Kind of like it had a mind of its own. One minute it would work, next minute DEAD. Since I repalced the battery, everything is fine. Your battery my need replacing, after all, its at least 4 to 5 years old. Maybe older, who knows how long it sat on a shelf before it was installed in your car. :(

  2. Good for you!!!!! They sure want to charge a person for every little thing, but trying to get things done under warranty, thats a different question. I have been fighting with my East side dealer about what I consider warranty issues, but I just keep getting the run around and excusses.. Red carpet treatment before the sale, just try and get something fixed under warranty with out extra charges.... Good luck......

  3. I am looking for a quality repair facility in the Seattle area. Doesn't matter if its a Lexus dealer, a toyota dealer or independent shop. Just want some one to be fair, honest, do the job correctly the first time. Anyone that has had good experiences with a shop, I would appreciate hearing from you. I need general maintance and soon some brake pads replaced. I have 43,000 miles on the car at this time.

  4. I would have to really consider alot of factors. First of all, I really like my GS. As a car, its great, whats not to like. What I really dislike is the service department and the BS a person has to put up with. Is this a overpriced Quick lube place where hopefully you will have your car fixed right the 1st time or do you have to purchase all the additional added services that "you really should have done". to feel assured that your car is being taken care of corrrectly. Where else can you take your car for a $60.00 oil change and they try to bump it up to a $300.00 mini service :censored: Had it back 3 times for a brake concern, still not fixed :cries: . Just the run around. Its still under factory warranty and a CPO car. My next car, I will consider the Infinity or the CTS Cadillac. I will check service rates, and look up their performance feed back on the local Consumer Checkbook. I will pick a dealer that is at the top of the list, not at the bottom. I could write page after page, but I feel most of you have already experienced Lexus service.

  5. Had mine less than a month. So far, I love it and would most definately purchase another one. As far as noise goes, I had an alignment done, all four corners, and that cut out a LOT of the tire noise.

I have had mine for about 2 months and its great except for the noise coming from the front brake pads when changing directions. IF they fix this, yes for sure another GS430 would be great. BillH2, please PM me, as I am curious if your 2001 has the same problem with brakes as mine. I guess its normal according to Lexus, but would like input from some one with same year and model. Curious about the 4 corner alignment too, as mine is also noisy, from tires I am sure.

  6. Just came back from my local Lexus dealer for my complaint about the clunking or clicking noise heard when applying the breaks, especially after changing directions. ie; backing up, then driving forward and applying the brakes. This is fairly normal for front brakes on alot of Lexus. Some of it depends on if you do alot of freeway driving or in town driving. He sugessted when the pads are ready for replacement to be sure and install a Fit Kit along with the new pads. I had never heard of such a thing, so I called the parts department, sure enough, there is a Fit Kit. I understand it contains new X springs, clips etc that hold the pad in place. This will help reduce the clicking or clunking noise from the front breaks when changing directions. Part # 0494730120. (about $45.00 for a front set) Of course this will only work on OEM brake pads I am sure. As far as the shim kit, those may or may not be reused, depending on condition, as the main purpose is to keep the brakes from squeeling or making noise when braking. Thats from one of their diagnostic techs who seemed very helpful. ... :D

  7. bfgoodrich traction t/a h rating $86 or bfgoodrich traction t/a v rating $86 or bridgstone potenza g009 h rating $70 or yakohama avid h4s h rating $70?

    Which would you buy?

    Note:These are all season tires.

If I only had those four to pick from: Yokohama. But do more research. Try a search, as there are many opinions from various users.

  8. Yes, I am a dad and I helped my son through college. But he had a part time job that covered all his car expenses and other fun stuff that he could afford. I have no problem with young men making mods to there car. I would much sooner see my son or some one elses son or daughter spend their extra hard earned money on car mods, like lights, speakers, tires, wheels etc, instead of on DRUGS!!!!!!! Do something constructive with your money that you can be proud of. By modding your car, you will have something to be proud of as well as learn alot at the same time. I offen admired my sons ability to learn while working on his car, after all you must learn electricty, mechanical, chemical, (oil etc) and the like. I do believe his knowledge and love of cars helped him land his first job out of college. He is now an engineer at NASA. Yep, I am a proud dad!!

  9. Did you pay for it or did your dad?? Thumbs up for your dad for getting the job done, I assume correctly, at a much more resonable cost. Are you paying for your college education or your dad? If your dad is paying for all your bills, don't !Removed! because of a little delay in maintance..... If you have a job and are paying all the bills, I appologize and commend you for your efforts. Bottom line, get that education, its something no one can take away from you!!

  10. I had this same prob w/ my 98 gs4 and changed the pads and it went away the pads were still good but after changing them it has been gone for over 2 years good luck.

I just came back from the local Lexus dealer, complaining of this clunking noise. Mine is usually after I have backed up and applied the parking brake. Then the 1st time I apply the brakes going forward, "CLUNK" There standard answer was "Thats normal for a Lexus. Its the pads reposition themselves." So, don't know if I totally buy that, so I just emiled Lexus USA with the same complaint. I just pruched the vehicle and its Lexus certified, so I told them the brakes should not have this problem, being its Certified. We will see if I get a response or not. But it is reasureing to know others are having a clunking problem too, not just me. <_<

  11. i was quoted 2985 for a 4/50k

    3/36k 2379

    2/100k 1785

This was from Pohanka Lexus in Virginia

I was told that if I did not use the warranty for the 3 or 4 year warranties the money would be refunded....

Boy, they are sure expensive on a Lexus. Guess I am used to Ford & Jeep. I would read the fine print when they tell you that your money will be refunded....

Usually its a sliding scale. Have never heard of one that refunds ALL your money. I had one tell me something similiar, and turns out, they would discount the price of the extended warranty, towards the purchase of a new car.... In other words, I would have to purchase a new car to get the refund, and it would be taken off the price of the new car. ;)

    Just food for thought.....
