  1. I have to disagree on HIDs not working well with the SC's stock housing/lens. I've got HIDs on mine and I think they're great. Going on almost 2 years now. I lowered the beam so as not to blind oncoming cars. No halogen bulb can compare.

Ebay's got them for like $75 now...maybe less.

98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited

    89 Mazda 323 4dr

    98 Lexus LS400

01 GMC Sierra Ext Cab Sportside

    88 Mazda 323 hatchback

    88 Jeep Cherokee

    04 Corvette Z06

    Have:

    91 Lexus LS400

05 Chevrolet Suburban LT Autoride AWD

    07 Subaru Outback 2.5i Ltd

    02 Mercedes SL500

  3. Anyone ever heard of Bravox? I've got my 92 SC400 in the stereo shop and they couldn't put the JL Audio 10" WS6 woofer that was originally considered due to the depth of the speaker and the lack of depth under the rear deck due to the gas tank.

So here's what's going into my ride. A Bravox 12" subwoofer was custom fitted on the rear deck. MB Quart Reference series 5.25" speakers in back, MB Quart Reference series 4" components in the front door, 2 seperate JL Audio amps - one for the highs, one for the sub; and a nice Kenwood double DIN custom fit up front. Clifford RSX 3.5 alarm is protecting the car.

I think the place is going to seal up that 12 somehow in the back. I'll take pics and show them when I get it back in a couple days.

So if anyone knows about Bravox, let me know would ya?

  4. Not me, dood! I've got a 92 SC400 now that's in the shop getting pimped with audio gear. Currently driving a 91 LS400 that's only got 91k on the motor.

We'll have to get together sometime. I'd like to see how that tranny of yours is working. Was thinking about putting that dragon torque converter in. Did you do it, or did you have someon else do it? If so, how much did it cost?

Let me know if that back alley race with you and the Subie ever materializes. I'll come and watch. I'll video it if you want. :) Those WRX Sti models will run 4.6 - 4.9 second 0-60s according to the magazines.

If it's nice out, I might even bring my ZX-12R and you can really see how slow cars are compared to bikes. LOL

    Peace!

  5. Watch out for the Subarus WRX-Sti also at the start. Not only are they usually modded, but they're all wheel drive too and guys just redline and drop the clutch. Next thing you know you're playing catch up.

I had a 2004 Z06. Tough off the line to launch to the fullest, but do it right and it was gone. Too bad mine turned out to be a lemon. Had it for 15 months. I miss it. :cries:

  6. broke 200 on a friends gsx1300r. :D

You bet me. Only 172 mph on my gsxr1100. What year busa did your friend have?

Speedometer on motorcycles don't equal actual miles per hour on motorcycles at higher speeds. Especially Suzukis! Notoriously MPH happy for the squids.

200mph on my ZX-12R equaled 180mph on the GPS.

  7. same gas mileage for all of them really.... when i bought the corvette z06 it was my first ls1... and i thought it was going to be a gas guzzler car... i remeber i did 29mpg the first week when i was doing the break in.. and that was because i wasn't doing steady state... i had to vary as how i want to do it....

    Can I say that you're a tool?

For one, the Z06 doesn't come with an LS1. Z06 Vettes have LS6 motors. And yes...I had an 04 Z06.

Two...if you thought it was going to be a gas guzzler, you must not know how to read the sticker on the car. It clearly states something like 18city/28hwy. If you bought them used, then you're an idiot still for not researching the car.

Three...you're talking about getting great gas mileage in cars that have manual transmissions, right? 6th gear on those Camaros and Vettes are the gas gears and, yes...they get great mileage. LS are automatics and they still get great gas mileage on the highway. My 91 gets 25-26. My 98 did 27 round trip LA-Vegas @75-80mph.

To even compare a luxury barge to very low geared manual transmission cars... :chairshot:

You want real world proof/knowledge of these engines? I have no problems with the Lexus motors whatsoever. My Z06 was lemon lawed this past year. Why? Piece of *BLEEP* LS6 motor. That's probably not a fair statement. Piece of *BLEEP* company that assembled the LS6 motor and caused it to fall apart every month. That sound fair to you Mr. LS1 motors are the greatest?

  8. 2004 Corvette Z06 - 156mph. Got there quick, but started approaching traffic, so I got off the gas. Never had a chance to peg it.

2000 Kawasaki ZX-12R - 180mph, GPS verified. Twice. Speedo showed 200 both times. Still had some more to go, but ran out of balls on the first one, and road on the second. B)

  9. Thanks for the responses! I got the car back today. Yes, oil was squirted in to see if it was the valves. Compression went up to 170 after squirting in some oil. All other cylinders were at 185 except for cylinder #5. It was at 175.

All spark plugs were replaced and the car is running much better now. Whoever the idiot was that serviced it last year put new caps, rotors and wires, but didn't replace the plugs. The plugs were burnt!!

Now that I know the rings are in fact bad in cylinder #1, what are your recommendations on what should be done? Just use good oil and keep it for as long as it will live?

    Thanks again.
