  1. dewana421, many thanks for your advice. You gave me little push in a right direction and I actually followed it and got some answers. Based on readings battery seems to be in a good shape. Was completely depleted on Monday but with little boost car started at first attempt. Alternator readouts are somewhat ambiguous. I was getting around 13.2 V or 14 V which is little confusing. I made an appointment with Toyota to let them take look at it. I forgot to check for parasitic draw but if I can find little spare time I'm going test it today.
  2. Few days ago a new alternator was installed at the local Toyota dealer. Car was driven for couple of short trips afterwards and performed perfectly. Now after being parked for 3 days it is completely dead. No remote, no dash light, no signal of anything. I used mechanical key to open the door and than tried starting up with the key fob. Nothing. Key batter is only few months old. Car battery was in excellent shape just a few days ago. Where do I start...? New battery..? Could it be related to the new alternator install, wires, fuses...? Or maybe engine immobilizer system...? Unlikely though since there are zero dashboard indicators on. Car is completely dead. Any advice most appreciated
  3. Aye captain. Good advice. Thank you.
  4. Enjoyed the video... ehm... very instructive.... I’m learning about car mechanics based on problems they develop. My previous two cars, both Acuras had very few. As for the broken handle, it would be my first... I’ll probably try fixing it myself. Appreciate your advice.
  5. Hi Guys, did any of you had to replace the outside door handle on Lexus ES350...? Is it very complex or hard to reach...? Front door handle on my car needs to be replaced and am speculating whether I can managed myself or should hire a mechanic.
  6. Thanks K, I did signed up. My next headache is broken door handle. Driver side on the outside. ToyoDIY and Toyota dealership quote the same price for the handle, which is over $270. Bit pricy. First I’m going to look around for other sources and see what’s available...
  7. So thank you guys for your interest and advise. As expected, power steering was the leaking offender.... I got away lucky this time because the only damage done was to power line. In fact I even splash for the original Lexus parts due to it’s low cost. My plan for the day was, if either power line or pump were damaged I would go with Lexus replacements, if steering rack seals leaked I would have to look for after market parts. BTW I did my fixing at Toyota dealership. I’ll be back soon with another small problem. I don’t know, think the first owner wasn’t very kind to his car.... there seems to be number of minor issues deriving from lack of proper maintenance and rough handling....
  8. Thanks Gene, well I’m not a mechanic that’s for sure at the same time not completely green when comes to cars. Is just I was in a hurry and had no chance to inspect it in any detail. Spotted a fresh puddle of oil and heard steer noises and than had to take off leaving my car behind. Now after a second inspection I’m pretty sure it’s the power steering. That’s where it drips from. In fact the whole front underneath is covered with fresh grease which indicates it’s been going on for a while without me noticing it. Most obvious clue is oil level in a power steering bin sits below minimum....
  9. I have my car sitting idle for couple of days and today I’ve noticed a rapid oil leak at the front where the radiator is but I don’t think it’s a radiator as when I touch the steering wheel it makes a lot of screechy noises as if the steering wasn’t working. On board computer on the other hand shows all in good order. I don’t think I can drive this car anywhere now... Do you guys think it’s the transmission...?

    Check Vsc

So all what it was just one of the CO2 sensors going bad...

    Check Vsc

Oh, I know about these...:) Thanks. Any idea which of those below $50 would work reliably with 2007 ES350...? What I was asking is diagnostic without any readers - a paper clip method.... just like this guy here which I believe should work just the same in Lexus.

    Check Vsc

Thanks. How do I find the code number on my own...? Is it done by jumping terminals of the diagnostic connector...?
  13. Slip ( vsc ) and engine light came on today while driving home. Message on the screen says Check VSC. I haven’t noticed any difference in car behavior though. Do you think I have two different problems or the slip and engine warnings relate to VSC only...?
  14. Thank you guys. I appreciate your comments and advice. Today I went as Denny suggested, for an easiest solution first just to see what would happen and raised the pressure up to 35 psi including the spare. The TPMS light went out right after driving distance of 20 meters... I hope it stays this way.
  15. A couple of days ago I bought 4 new Michelin Defender tires at the Toyota dealership for my 2007 ES350. I drove that day for a while than for the next couple of days car sat idle. Today when I started it up the low pressure light came on. All 4 tires have around 31 psi. Old spare was low at about 20 psi so I pumped it up to 30 psi but the light is still on. Since I purchased this car couple of months ago I had low pressure light coming up on couple of occasions when still wearing old tires. After adding a 2-3 psi to each tire the light would go off. This time though, with brand new tires it keeps shining.... I though if I drive around and get them warmer low pressure indicator would go out but no luck.
