  1. I doubt it will help in the US, but in most of the rest of the world, Toyota sells a Toyota version of the GX470 as either the Toyota Land Cruiser (http://www.toyota.co.uk/) or the Toyota Land Cruiser Parado (http://www.toyota.com.hk/).  The interesting thing is that the Toyota model does have a center armrest.  I would have preferred the center armrest over the captians chairs in the GX, but the other positives of the GX outweighed this for me.

I like the present armrest. I sometimes raise one or the other to have easy access to the cupholder or storage compartment.

  2. I received the Vaistech AIC-100X and installed it today. Since I bought my GX a year ago, I have been waiting for this. I had the Terk Commander with FM modulator (which totally sucked). You could use that (w/o the display or FM modulator) if you have it already or you could just buy the XM direct (I think that is what it is called)

Well, it totally works. It emulates as an MD changer. You switch to it using the Disk button by pressing it a couple of extra times. Mine is one of the first units and there were some problems, none of them worth explaining. The install is easy if you are handy. It did intergrate extremely well but there are some things that need to be changed. The guys at Vaistech are awesome. I called them today (Saturday) and had several conversations with Eugene and one of the Techs. They will be fixing the problems. When you talk to them, all they want to do is help. They also appreciated my input which was nice.

I will take some pictures tomorrow and post them so you can see what the screen looks like. Also, there is an extra set of RCA inputs that can be used for anything you may want to add. If you have any questions, post it here or email me at emailcab@yahoo.com

Where did you place the antenna?

I had the antenna installed right above the rear door in the center. Can hardly notice it.
  3. i only use 87

I called the dealer and asked their opinion about 87 octane or 91 octane. They stated that the 87 should run OK but their will be a sacrifice in performance and fuel economy. They recommended the 91 octane all the time.

  4. getting back to topic, my Gx gives me the standard gas mpg (as stated on the sticker) and am not happy with the current gas prices here in ca!  <_<  :chairshot:

I am a little uncertain what fuel to use, 87 or 91 octane. The owners manual states use 87 but says 91 will give higher performance. I have the 2005 GX. Does anyone have experience or knowledge of this topic?

  5. The Vaistech unit is what allows you to see the MD function. It is in the software but not seen unless you have a device that access it like the Vaistech. If you were to unplug the CD changer, you would no longer see CD. The Vaistech unit fools the unit into thinking it has a MD plugged in to it.

You will see exactly what everyone else sees on the nav display, channels, names, etc...

I had my Vaistech installed this week. It really works well. The only problem is that the controls are a little confusing. I may need to adjust the setup. Mine shows Disk 80 and when I punch in the XM channel, I need to hit the "10" track for the "0". Does anyone have experiece with this?

  6. I bought my 04 on 10/01/04, and paid 50,000 for it. It has the Nav, rear entertainment, spoiler, hitch, ..basically everything except the KDSS.  At the time, lexus was running a deal where they didn't charge extra for the third seat and rear AC package, so the sticker on mine was about 52,500.

I may have been able to get a better deal if I shopped dealers outside of my southeast wisconsin area, but I valued establishing a good realationship with my local lexus dealer. after 5 and a half months of ownership, I am still very pleased with my purchase, and glad to have a great local dealer to go to for service. Nothing has gone wrong at all with my GX, so all I have been in for so far is the thousand mile checkup that they include in the purchase. I was treated like royalty when I brought it in for that.

I have about 3,000 miles on it now, and am planning a cross country trip down to Phoenix in  March to watch some  baseball spring training games.  I'm going to take it in for it's first oil change just before I go, but I think I'll wait until I get back for the tire rotation. I'll have less then 4,000 miles on it just before I leave.

:o Look at www.ClubLexus.com for members complaining about paying for unneeded service at dealers.
