Even if you use a gasket try some Permatex high temp sealant as well, that away it's like double protection!

Try a bottle of fuel system cleaner and drive the car hard though a tank of fuel. Might just need the Italian tune up!

As Paul says wear a mask, gloves etc the spores from mold can be very nasty! Try treating with an anti fungal wash to kill it. Good luck

I would go for it. Bought my 1994 ls400 with 177,000 miles, first thing I did was oil change to Mobil 1synthetic. No leaks and it provides much better protection for your engine in both hot and cold conditions.

Read posts on ecu capacitors, could be your problem! Just as it seems the problem is intermittent

As 1990ls400 says, best to try replacing the antenna mast first, can be bought cheaply from ebay. If that doesn't work then look at the gears if the motor is operational.

I was just going to order a rear transmission mount for my Ls400, how is the discount applied?

Do I need a code? Tried entering my user name in the discount code but no luck. Also when I registered with Sewell I selected LOC and put my user name in.

Sewell prices are amazing, 1237150010 transmission mount Calgary Lexus, Alberta $168! Sewell price $53 + shipping!

After reading around I decided that replacing the mast on my1994 ls400 power radio antenna would have it back to working order. After removing the old mast, inspecting the motor housing to check for broken teeth I put it back together. Upon feeding the new mast into the tube I heard a lot of grinding, then the gears would catch, pull the mast in for a short period, then stop.

After trying to feed the mast in numerous times I gave up. I assumed that all was lost. The sound of grinding gears lead me to believe that they had been ground out due to the old mast being stuck in one place. After searching around I didn't want to pay $100 buck for a used unit. After a trip to the local breakers yard there were no ls400 there but a few es300's. The motor looked to same and so I got it for only $20, thinking I could change out the motor housing only.

Took them apart to find out the the inner workings were the same. Upon inspecting the gears I found that the gear coming of the motor worm drive was flatted with no teeth left. I scavenged the gear from the es300 motor housing, reassembled, the new mast fed in like a charm!

So even if you have tried a new mast and it doesn't work but you can hear the motor turning, Check the gears and scavenge from any similar lexus power antenna! Fixed mine for a grand total of $20.

I know this is an old post but I have a question and didn't want to start a new thread!

So after reading the forum I ordered a new mast from eBay. Took the old one out, old cable was in one piece, took the housing apart just to double check there was not a broken piece inside..... After that nothing broken off in there, put back together.

But when I go to feed the new one in it grinds, then pulls the cable in, grinds, stops feeding in, but motor runs. Checked I fed it in with the teeth facing rear of the car. Currently I managed to get the cable all the way down but does not go up.

For now it is all the way down and I unplugged the electrical connector to stop it running.

Any ideas?

I just ordered some sensen quick struts for the rear. Got them from rockauto, only $118 each, will let you know how they fit, ride etc when I put them in.
