  1. So how many quarts of Amsoil was required to do the flush? And At what cost? I however have a 1999 RX300 on my third transmission. The 330 may have a different fluid capacity.

The '04 has a total fill of 9.5 qts. & they used 13 qts in total to flush. Charged $80 & I supplied the AMSOIL.

As a registered dealer I paid much less then retail for the ATF. Let me know if u need some, u can go to their website & click on to perferred customer, then use my reference #66180 & for $20 u can register & then purchase at wholesale for a year I believe. The more u order the more u save.

  2. Just changed the GL in the rear axle at 50K & was it dirty. Next job will be the front tranfer case. Hope it is a easy a job as the rear.

Then will take it to a place that flushes the auto tranny & put 10 fresh qts. in. Using AMSOIL 100% synthetics for everything

  3. It depends. If you're going to buy a car after a lease, just buy it in the first place its cheaper, unless you have significant tax advantages if you lease. If you're going to lease, put $0 down and trade it in or sell it for profit at the end, or you're missing the point of leasing.

I'd take it around and get a sense of what the market value is vs the buyout. If its higher, buy it out and sell it and put the cash down on a new one. They will make you fix the windshield probably, but that will only cost you your comprehensive deductible. The tires should be fine.

We lease because we do like a new vehicle about every 3 years. The salesman said thats the way to go like you said. Little down & sell it for a profit if possible. This is the 1st lease we ever did. We can buy it for 23K & sell it for say 26K, sounds like the way to go. Then we have 3K to put down on a new one.

    Then we will lease again.

  4. What to do, our lease is up in 4 months. We need new tires & we have a very small stone crack that was repaired in the front window.

Should we buy the car or just give it back. Will they charge me for new tires & a windshield?

Our buyout price is low so we are thinking of purchasing it. Then we can put new tires on it & drive it another 50K. They said we should purchase a exptended warranty from them for about 1K for a 3yr/50K addition.

    :unsure::unsure:

  5. Does anyone know if the sc400 door hinge assembly is a sealed unit or will it help to soak it wiyh spray lube. Thanks

Had to have all my hinges replaced last month due to creaking noise. '03 RX. Tryed all kinds of sprays 1st. Dealer said it is a known problem.

  6. 2007 RX 350

Planning on a 2007 in the fall. If we do get one it will be in the dealer till they get rid of it. We didn't do that with our '04. It still is bad when it cold out.

If in fact the new '07 has a dash noise it WILL get fixed or I'll push it till the LEMON LAW gets me a new one, again, & again & again.

  7. DASH RATTLE - We had had this problem for 37K or since new.

DEALER HAS HAD 3 CHANCES TO FIX IT!

Do u think the 4th would be the charm? It is worse then ever this winter. It again came back about 2 weeks ago when the weather really got cold here. I guess I will again call for them to repair it again? Sounds like they just might have a handle on the problem this time.

  8. Chief, not a road race course just running it through the twisties in the mountain areas. What kind of tires are you using and how did the RX handle the snow? There has been lots of talk here about snow and tires.

    Jeff

It really was great in the snow. We have the all wheel drive so it better be good in that little snowfall. I don't really know what tires are on it, the ones that came with it. Car isn't here right now so I will look when wife gets home.

Otherwise the roads here are straight & wide, for the most part anyways.

  9. Maybe the Pace in Wisconsin is a little slower than the rest of the country, or it could be that you don't get out much, or drive in the mountains. I'm sure you have moisture though. Seems like every ones in a hurry here in California, and yes some people hot rod (as much as you can an RX) in a Lexus. Ever read any of the posts about getting more power out of an RX? You don't need a COBRA to have brake fade however I can see that happining in a COBRA.

Sorry to get off topic luxury1.

    Jeff

U are right, the pace is a lot slower here in Wisconsin & no mountains either.

No i have never read about someone wanting to get more Power out of their RX but I'm sure they do, but on a road course??

I will tell u our Lexus sure went though the 3+ inches of snow we had yesterday.

  10. My RX330's MAINT REQD light is on, anyone has any experience on this??

My guess is that the car needs maitenance. :whistles:

Aside from the obvious, if u want to reset this light as it comes on when milage reaches certain #'s it is very easy to reset. Just check in your service books & it tells u how as I just did it. I believe u just turn on the key & push the reset trip mileage button & hold it down for 5 secs or so or until the dots disappear but read your book to make sure.

I hope this is the answer u want & not the 1st one given.

  11. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time and will contaminate the system. Water also lowers the boiling point of the fluid and will lead to brake fade in heavy braking , like on mountain roads or road racing.

    Jeff

And of course we all take our RX's road racing. The brake fluid on our Mustang COBRA gets changed before every road event we go to though, so if u go road raciong with your RX I guess u should change brake fluid too.

  12. VERY INTERESTING FACTS GUYS! so its best to use lexus air filters and oil filters not k&n or other quality brands? Could you give a site or two that you freequent to order your parts from please? The more info the better guys thanks. I just purchased an es 300 with 90,000 miles and am trying to figure out what I need to tackle first. The guy I bought it from said he had all fluids changed but without paper work I am not sure what exactly "all" means. He also put front brakes on which is good, but what type of fluids did he use and which exactly got changed i'm not sure. I do need to know what fluids and filters to buy though so you guys have been great help. I did change to mobil 1 ,replaced timing belt and all other belts.

Just changed my oil & filter at 38K. Have used AMSOIL since the 2nd oil change. Also use a AMSOIL oil filter. As for brake fluid & ATF they are made to go more miles then just a few years ago. I guess it all depends on your driving habits & where u drive it.
