  1.

    I'm in a rutt here...

I've gotr these cracks @ cylyndars 1 & 2 on the exhaust manifolds on another vehical (Not my LS).

I was wonderen' just how much pressure can this "Liquid weld" stuff can take and for how long...does anybody have an idea, and if not should I EXPERIMENT on the subject before I go ahead & by new headers for my 5.9 liter Jeep limited?

I've used some of this stuff on my radiator when I tore a hole the size of both my fists in my LS and it held for several months till I replaced it...and it's still holdingwater...I filled it up after removal and here it is a year later still no leaks...impressive.

  2. My luck as always  sucks....

Well as i said before , i found a leak in the engine block , got it fixed, everything is great right .... WRONG

I took a trip , about  30 miles down the trip, it started  to overheat ,not much but enough for me to concern,  i stop check the coolant everythihng is fine,  i keep going ,like an hour in the road i had to stop car almost in red,  turn it off , pop the hood  water is bubling back to the reservoir, let it cool down , got my 17 and unscrew the filler nut filled it up ,WAS ALMOST OUT OF WATER, took almost 2 gallons of water .  continued my trip on my way home had to stop almost every 30 miles , for it to cool down i was doing like 60mph and about 1200 rpms the whole way , there were times when he wanted to overheat and i just let off the gas and it would go down, sometimes not that lucky, good part about all this is that i drove my car  today ran all my duties, no overheting , just went up a notch in a jam at noon with ac at foll.

    Advise?

Ironically same thing happened to my 91 ls400... turned out I needed to replace waterpump.

How many miles you got/ It's sugested to change the timing belt @ 150000...If the waterpumps going or gone, maybe you can kill two birds w/one stone...?

  3. Why did Ford stop production of the Taurus? now they only have the Five Hundred.

Wasn't the Taurus like their best seller?

Ummmm Isn't this a Luxus forum?

Ford cars from post COBRA days Just plain SUCK :chairshot:

F(*!#@)-O(wners)R-D(umb) Pardon the "Technical Terms" :censored:

The real Question is... "why did Chevy stop the Camaro production?" <_<

I think it's the reason Cadillac's been so successfull in climbing the "sport productivity" area. ;)

  4. Here in New England (VT) and I just finished updating everything except the A/C on my 91 ls400 w/165000 strong miles clocked in, and ready for many more.

got any pictures? what's its condition?

P.S. sound system works but center rear speaker needs work.

  5. [

    Sweet!!!!!!

    Goter running like a champ....BUUUUUUttttt

The fan bracket shaft decided to give way and snapped..... <_<

Now that I've replaced the fan bracket, I now need a new/used fan blade, "&" Radiator

    Boy! Talken bout baaaaaaaad luck.

I have researched for the radiator and found some for $50, yet they say there a bit flakey...some for bout $75 which I'm thinking towards. I know how to flush em out so fresh out of a respectical wreck is GOLD to me.

nothing like getting the whole job done to only find more is needed to be done...

Hence the fraze.."Anything that can go wrong, will..."

Just replaced water-pump and timing-belt in my 91 ls 400 @ 162,000 mile mark, to olny get a bit o sunburn and two new codes(13 RPM signal and 25 air-fuel ratio lean mixture).

I have an idea what the remedy could be but I hope some insight would be in offering, so here goes...

:whistles: I'm not sure what the sensor is called aiming @ the sprocket on the crank shaft but I snapped of the bolt head trying to remove it, :o so I temporarily used gasket sealer :whistles: to hold it in place for now. I think it got bent over when I tried to losen bolt to harmonic pully/ballancer by way of "turning engine w/ tourque etc."which in turn wrapped timing belt (needed replacement anyway) around crank n thin little sprocked thinggy...(shoulda've seen my eyes roll then).

Anyway before that happened, I noticed the cam on the passenger side was off by one tooth.... Is this normal? Because the car ran beautiful before "I" got to it. Now it runs just a hint off and knocks @ arout 2000 RPMs since "I" got to it and left it that way...

I'm thinking I gotta start AAAALL over again, minus the water pump, and set the cam right, remove the broken bolt( to the crank sensor?) and hope for the best :chairshot:

  7. I love my 91 LS 400...even though th a/c 's in need of repair, power stering is starting to leak, subwoofer's spent and the stock cd remote's a "POS" (pardon the pos remark), she's clocked in over 178,000 and STILL she runs and ride like a cloud. Not bad for a $1500.00, 13 Yr. old, LUXURY Toyota product.

Speaking of Toyota product...Some of those parts you say you need are availablr from Toyota dealers too... If you've got the part number, order it through a Toyota dealer and it might be cheeper... :) (Sound like she's worth keeping now?)

  8. Yeah, My 91 LS 400's doing it too...And there is someone who does sell just the screen and it's easy to do with a little TLC.

Go to Ebay and search for Lexus parts follow your search from there and you should find another lexus club member there not only carring info for the part, but instructions for the job, as well as charging about $250 to do the job for ya. (not too shabby).

  9. I have a December 1990 LS400 that I ran in Washington, DC and for past 12 years in San Francisco. It is still SWEET. I run with the lighs full on so my display panel for the stereo is partially out after 180,000. Lately the transmission is leaking a little (burning off inside the engine per the dealer) but rathe rthan pay $400-600 to repair, I simply top off with $2 of transmission fluid each month ... more cost effective. In 15 years of ownership, I have replaced the A/C condenser, one power window mechanism and that is it. Oops .. the sub bass woofer is a little weak too. I tried to get wracker/auto salvage sub-bass amplifeier several years with no luck. Dealer quotes me $600-800 to swap out sub-bass woofer in rear window area but cannot guarantee that wil fix my loss of certain low end frequencies. I am a musician and a music junkie so I notice the lack of low end fequencies but no one else seems to. On my LS430s of course the stereos are *wonderful*.

    Aaron

p.s. I also have a 1998 LS400 and two 2002 LS430s ... all white. I bought some aftermarket Japanese add ons in Tokyo one year and added a Celsior tail to my 1998. Very nice!

    166772, 2 accidents and 2 owners and still getting 21 23 mpg's.

    "Gotta love it!"

  10. Hey All...,

Just hoping to gain a set of 1991 LS 400 Rims if anyones willing to roll'em My Way :whistles: Unfortunately..., I can't afford to much.

    Is there any offers?

:blushing: OOOOOOOPPPPpsss! Guess I'n a Noodle-head. Forgot to leave forwarding info huh?(DUH!).

(I'm one of those Yanks from Vermont, so that pretty much explaines it.)

And sorry I haven't been checking my E-mail as often as I should...well anyway Since a few of ya replied to my requwst maybe I should add I'm looking for the NON Chromed set like the spare rim. Even if there are only 3 of them because I've got one allready but the chrome ones have a tendancy to peel and create leaking probs.

I see they can go for as little as $125 on E-Bay and I'm assuming thore might be the non Chrome (?). Anyway... to make it a little shorter on the subject...I really cant afford much more than maybe...$200 for four $150 for three...

Have I got any hits out there???

Please feel free to E-Mail me at wolver1ne516@yahoo.com

  11. Are you sure it's not the valves clicking? I'm getti9ng that a lot when I'm easing off the gas slightly between 1000 2500 rpms in my 91 ls400. Thought it might be cheep gas but hasn't gone away for months. might need to go with timing belt n water pump change.

  12. Oh, by the way... Fram makes an item I found very useful in changing oil. It's called sure drain...and I love it! No messy oil draining up my arm when removing drain plug anymore. just twist on drain hose and wiat till completely drained, then twist off hose and clean it out before storage. I keep it in a plastic bag in the glove box. Great product. Worth every penny.
