Wow. You need to see where the hole is. I have never worked on an LS400 but I have a 98 Gs300 and 2008 LS460. The area you are pointing to seems to be where the tube comes from the radiator for over flow. When the car leaks water from anywhere it allows the remaining water to become even hotter creating steam that normally comes from that area. Suggesting your leak could be anywhere. 1) Look around the radiator for hose leaks, 2) then the water pump for a leak. These are the general culprits. You can do this by filling up the reservoir and radiator while the car is cool only. Then starting it and seeing if the steam is coming from the overflow or a leak. If it is coming from the overflow this is a sign your leak is elsewhere. Using a flashlight, see if you see water coming out of where the water pump is. If not then look at the hoses for water leaking if none it can be your heater hose. Check heater hoses. If not these then see if oil on dipstick is milky or if water is coming out of the block anywhere. Hope it is a hose. These are easy to fix and cheaper than the other alternatives. Good luck

I have been having this issue in my 1998 GS300 for several years. As I drive the lights will come on and speed o meter stops working until I got it off and restart. No other things seem to be happening. Car runs fine with lights on. Took it to dealer and they couldn’t make the lights come on so they couldn’t diagnose it. Any ideas? I tested the speed sensors and of course they were fine and the lights were not on?

The dealer said he found a bad starter and will fix that then see if there are any other issures. Thanks for your input.

Thanks. I was aware of the camshaft position sensor codes but didn’t focus on the crankshaft. I am now concerned it is a broken timing chain. And that the cpu senses this and is preventing the starter from engaging. But the VSC code is a mystery. Thanks for your quick response and sharing your expertise

I pulled my car out of the garage and turned it off. When I tried to restart I got a check VSC system on the dash and when I checked for codes I had several P0335, PO340, PO345, PO365 and PO390 and it will not start. Starter does not even engage. Any ideas on what is happening to my car with 200,000 miles? Ran great before this issue. This is a 2008 LS460 with maintenance kept up
