  1. Yeah, but to be honest, the aftermarket still drives the "stock" systems to get better. For many many years, a couple hundred bucks can get you way more than you can buy in a stock entertainment system. The Pioneer Avic-D3 has voice directed nav, with 3 map views, plays dvd's, ( while in drive), xfm, sirrius, am/fm, Ipod interface with Ipod video, rear camera, color display control, tuoch screen everything, full eq, sub woofer control with phase control, dsp settings, 2 audio/video inputs so you can add a playstation or xbox, and an audio/video output so you can have another screen in the vehicle and watch a dvd or playstation all from the same head unit----cost, $900.00 Lexus's and Mercedes, BMW, etc.etc. don't offer half those features and charge 3x's as much!!!

Smooth1 - considering you have that awesome system already, if you were to buy a similar system for another car would you go with the same Avic-D3 or would you go with a newer one? I see Pioneer has several models and the D3 is the lowest priced of the in-dash nav units. Is there anything in those that you wish you had? I'm trying to make decisions about what to do with my soon-to-be new Lexus.

Also, can any of the 2008 Lexus models have their factory stereos replaced or will some of the 2008 models be too difficult to modify?

    Thanks

  2. Hello - I'm looking into getting a 2008 Lexus to replace my 2002. I've installed a pretty hefty multi-component system to replace the factory system. Is there any chance they'd take the car as a trade-in with the aftermarket stuff still installed? If so, would they factor the aftermarket stuff into the trade-in value so I can get some additional money for it?

    Thanks very much,

    Greg.

  3. I've read all the messages here about it being difficult, if not impossible, to replace the stock head unit. I'd like to get an RX330 but if I can't replace the head unit I won't do it. I understand the head unit itself is fine, but it doesn't have the features I want. I have a Kenwood system in my IS300, including a Kenwood Music Keg (about 1,000 on one cartridge), and integrated Sirius Satellite Radio. I can't even imagine being without those two things, so aftermarket really is the only way for me.

Am I pretty much S.O.L. on this?

    Thx

  4. Hi - I'm looking into purchasing a 2005 RX330, but need to know if it's possible to replace the stereo without affecting the nav system. I know I can get the Mark Levinson and all that, but I have a system that I want to put in there that will blow it away, so I want to know if it's possible before I buy. Anybody know?

    Thanks
