  2. Hello,

    On my 2004 RX330.

I broke passenger side mirror while back out of the garage today. Horrible feeling especially with the liquid dripping out.

I am looking for replacement parts on the net but cant find any for that specific part.

    Anyone can help?

  3. Actually it gets worse as I drive it more. There is a considerable amount of steering wheel-to-road wheel alignment play. I would be pointing in one direction and after some breaking or modulation in the road, the wheels seem to go somewhere else.

Pumping the break when idling seems to take care of the problem momentarily.

If it's tighter steering... do u have enuff P/S fluid in there? How is it during most of the ride? Does it get smoother?

    Tom

  4. I should've explained better. It goes like this:

    1. I am parked at a traffic light

    2. Pump the breaks

    3. Drive off (After the green light, I dont break the law .. :) )

    4. The car feels tight.

have you ever driven a FWD car before?

Im not making fun, im serious, because the extra weight over the drive wheels (engine/tranny) will produce this feeling if you arent used to a FWD car.

its totally normal. the car gets harder to turn the faster you try to whip around the corners.

  5. Hell all,

I noticed a while back that if I pump the break pedal really hard, the steering becomes tight and I get what feels like better turn-in. Is this normal or am I just imagining things?

If it is infact expected, any one can explain it? and possibly give a way to always get that feel all the time.

  6. A noticed recently two problems:

    Engine Noise (possibly transmission):

When I floor it I hear a harsh sound like I am driving an older car with a V8 engine.

This is only when I am driving (i.e. the gear is on D), as I hear a smooth rev up to 6000rpm when I am on P.

What is causing this? How to solve it?

    Shimmying and swaying:

My car suddenly developped this alarmin shimmying and sawying when I drive over a rough road, the car goes left right and feels really dangerous to drive.

Would changing the shocks/struts solve this? Suggestions.

    -----------------

It is worth mentioning that about 4 months ago, I hit a rather high pavement and fixed the car, and drove a really long way continously (road trip about 1K miles) with no problems.

  7. chadmg7. I recently had 4 new struts put on my '99 ES300. I got the KYB Gas struts from www.TireRack.com for under $300. They shipped immediately, with no problem. I then had a garage install them - because the wheels have to be very carefully checked for alignment - for around $300.00  KYB struts are so superior to OEM you will wonder how it is you have been driving all this time in an overstuffed rocking chair. My other car, an '03 Passat W8 has sports suspension and 17" wheels; my Lexus is now fairly close to that level of performance. You will get no rocking/swaying, but a firm and comfortable ride. Tokico struts are just too hard, and cost more.

The sound you hear is possibly a worn strut tower or tower support. Although it is costly (and there is no way around it) I would recommend that when you access the TireRack site you also purchase the strut supports. It does sound like at least one of yours is shot.

    Best of luck.

    Avatar,

I am about to get the KYB after reading this. I have one question though, do you lose the electronic control of suspension stiffenesS? I mean I really love the ability to go super smooth (rocking yes) on rought surfaces.
