  1. My cds skip every time i hit a bump or even pebble in the road it seems. Is there anything i can do to make it play better. it was less frequent when i bought the car. i'm very close to just getting something newer anyway, maybe an in dash lcd screen, but until i decide on that, does anyone have a suggestion on how to stop this. its terribly annoying.

  2. I had the same problem about 2 weeks ago. My a/c button began to flash and the air turned warm. Eventually it stopped. I had been hearing the belts when ever i turned the car on for the past 6 months until the car warmed up. My mechanic told me that my compressor went bad. it took $900 to fix. I hope this isn't your situation.

  3. I've searched the forum and for this problem and found it to be informative. My situation however is just a tad bit different. I added a bottle of octane booster to my tank. It claimed to be "barely street legal" which was much stronger than what I usually use if I don't get premium. Shortly after I began to notice the sputtering between 45 and 55 mph. I can accelerate just fine but whenever I start to cruise here comes the sputtering.

Question: Since I added the octane booster what, to you guys knowledge would be the problem?

I've had my egr valve cleaned and pcv valve replaced. I changed my oil with a toyota filter 3 weeks ago.

As of yesterday I just filled up with regular premium and a fuel system cleaner. I noticed that the problem got a little better but still noticeable. Should I just continue to ride for a while until this is processed out of the fuel system, or just let a mechanic take a look.

    Thanx

  4. Just wondering if anyone here knows where I can get a diver's side front door lock assembly for a 96es300.

Toyota dealership says that the parts are different. Lexus dealership wants $305.00 which I'm not going to pay. I've tried salvage yards and have had no luck. Any help is appreciated.

  5. I changed my oil at Wal mart 3 weeks ago. Two weeks later, my yellow oil level light came on while driving.

Every time I park I leave a large puddle of oil. I had a mechanic take a look and he old me that there was definitely something going on with the filter. He suggested taking it back to wal mart. I took it back yesterday and watched the lube tech put on 4 different fram filters all of which gushed oil when I cranked up the car. He finally ended up putting back on the original just so I could drive back home. It still leaves a large puddle when parked. Has anyone experienced this or have any advice.

  6. I just fixed my door today. (It would not open from the outside.)

It required me removing the interior trim. I was very cautious while doing this.

Now, when I hit my lock button on my key, the doors lock - unlock - and then lock again finally making the beep noise. It will not however unlock using the key button. I can lock it fine from the inside and use the key to manually unlock it on passenger side. Is there something I should go back into my door and look for?

    If so what is it?

Like the above poster said its probably just a bad battery. By the way was it difficult removing the panel to repair the door? My front passanger door has the same problem, my mechanic fixed it, but it broke again in the same day because he didn't replace the part just "fixed" it.

Not at all. Search the forum keywords "broken door" I know there r at least 2 very detailed tutorials on how to do it yourself. I bought the replacement clips from advance auto parts. They're called door lock rod clips.

  8. Hi all,

I got no response from my last post so i figured i'd rephrase. My car door won't open from the outside. I have taken off my door panel with the help of this forum. Does anyone here have any instructions that detail exactly how to get to the broken latch itself to replace the broken clip. I can see exactly what's going on when i take off the weather strip and i have already gotten new latches, but I don't want to jump into things without hearing from someone who's been here before.

I've searched the forum already and all i keep getting is instructions on how to take off the panel but really nothing after that.

    thanx in advance

  9. I searched the forum and got instructions on how to take off my door panel to fix the outer handle.

(Door won't open from the outside.) I've found the problem and it seems to be a small plastic clip. Does anyone know where I can get one. I've heard dealership i've heard body shops. Does anybody have anyore suggestions.

    Thanx a bunch

  10. Hi all,

I'm purchasing some new tires in the next couple of days, I'm coming out if the Michelin Energy

mxv4 plus tires. I thought they were awesome but at $150 a pop I just can't afford them. I've decided on

Dunlop Sport 4000 tires. My question is, since I'm not an aggressive driver or speed demon can I go with the H rated tires instead of v which the michelins were.

    1) Has anyone else here switced from v to h?

    2) What changes in handling can I expect to see if any?

    Thnx

  11. post-12293-1141317698_thumb.jpgI just had one of my 02 sensors replaced this morning so that I could pass the inspection here.

Here's a list of my expenses which I think are pretty good! I think he charged $45 for the installation because I used the universal sensor which required some wire splicing and added time. What do you guys think?

    $35.00 - Diagnostic

    $80.00 - Oxygen Sensor

    $65.00 - Sensor Installation

    $45.00 - Running Inspection

    $225 Total.

  12. I found a pair of brand new Kumho touring tires. Just wandering if anyone has any experience with them . I'm just looking for a smooth ride, nothing flashy or anything.

I think the ones I found are Kunho 732 Touring

    Any opinions are appreciated.

  13. post-12293-1141012608_thumb.jpgJust wanted to ask everyone about a problem I'm having. I have a 96 ES300 with 112k miles.

When I ride over speed bumps I hear a distinct creeking noise coming from the rear of the car.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the shocks or struts which I don't know much about. I also seem to continually scrape the tail pipe when coming down from being elevated higher than the road. Just wondering about you guys' take on the matter and how much something like this will cost to fix. Also, can I do it myself.

    Thanx,

I just had my car inspected for the new north carolina emisions test and it failed due to bad o2 sensors. The check engine light has never come on in my car since I've owned it and I've never had any real problems. I don't know which sensor is bad. And I really didn't know that there was more than one before searching this forum. I'm wondering how serious an o2 sensor is. I believe in "If it ain't broke don't mess with it!" but it must be replaced and my computer reset before I can pass inspection.

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanx,

I searched before I posted. I'm not a rookie. I just thought my problem was a tad bit different. Do you search theses forums attempting to be an *BLEEP* to everyone. That's what it seems like. I take my car matters seriously. Either give advice trying to help the situation or keep it to yourself.

  16. Hello All,

Last night I experienced a problem with my power antenna. I turned the car off and my antenna would not retract. I heard the motor going but it would not move.

I got out and lightly pushed on it and it went all the way down. Today I turned on the radio and it came up 3/4 of the way. I still heard the motor and some clicking when it wouldn't go up anymore. When I turned the radio off it retracted all of the way. I could hear the radio just fine. Every audio store wants me to replace the entire thing but I don't think so if it's working any at all. Does anyone out there have any suggestions.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Keven

  17. Hi guys,

Recently I placed a faulty oil filter on my car while changing oil. When I cranked it up, oil gushed everywhere. Engine is not knocking or making any funny nioses. It drives perfectly. However I have had to pull over three times in the past month to put in another quart of oil. The light will come on while I'm driving down the road. It scares me half to death. One mechanic says that he's going to wash it down and pinpoint the leak. He thinks it may be the oil filter gasket. How much am I looking at getting that fixed. Anyone else have that problem. The car is running fine its just leaking.

    Hi everyone,

I own a 96 ES300 with 97k miles. I had a problem yesterday while I was changing my oil. After I finished, I cranked up and I'd say about 4 quarts gushed out from the filter. Needless to say, it was defective. My car ran for about 5 seconds with oil just gushing out from underneath. Does anyone forsee any problems. Should I get it checked out. I've been driving today and haven't heard any problems. I ran out got another filter and this time I used mobil 5000 clean oil. Does anyone have any experience with mobil 5000 instead of mobil 1. For some strange reason it was only $1.68 per quart and I just bought it because it was Mobil.

    Thanx,

  19. It's a 96.

Thanx a bunch stevie. I'll get right on that.

    Keven

Kevin, I am guessing you got a 92-93 ES.

here are two simple suggestions that may help you.

    1.  Try to find the Haynes manual or Chilton manual for the same year Camry should have a good write up with pictures.

    2.  Another possibility is to go to a large public library.  Look in the auto repair manuals for the huge chilton import manual.  Get the one that emcompasses the year of your car.  It should be in there.

    steviej

PS.  I merged the two separate threads you started so that all responces will be in one thread.  Word of note, it gets confusing when you post the same thread in two different forums.

  20. For the past couple of months I've been hearing the clicking sound when I make turns to one side. I need my front driver side cv axle replaced. Can anyone hear provide me with a writeup on how to do it including any needed tools. Any help will greatly be appreciated.

  21. Just wondering if anyone here could provide me with a writeup to replace a front driver side cv axle. I've been hearing the clicking now for a couple of months. It seems like you can find out how to fix things for ford or chevy anywhere on the internet but Lexus is completely different.

Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

    1)A list of needed tools

    2)I have the axle already
