  1. The car has no power because it has gone into "limp mode".  There is something wrong and the ECU is telling the engine not to run full power so it protects the engine.  I would guess the timing belt may be not on correctly.  Are you sure the new belt is on with the cam pulleys in exactly the same position as the old one?    The realtionship between the crank pulley and the cam pulley must be correct for the valve timing to be correct.

I will look for something to help with this on some other forums and come back.

I have sent you an email. If you reply, I can send info by PDF file.

  7. There is a good sized Lexus meet in preparation for the NorthEast Region.

Here are the details copied from ClubLexus.

    DATE & TIME:

Sunday, October 3rd, 2004. Meet @ 11AM. Rain date undecided.

LOCATION:Ross Dock Park, located in Fort Lee, NJ. Right along the NY/NJ border, and just a stone's throw away from the George Washington Bridge (I-95). Parking fee per car = $5. Try to make every effort to arrive early at 11AM so that we get good parking spots (parking can get filled up early, and we can hold spots for you guys).

From Routes 4, 46, I-80, I-95: Take the exit for Fort Lee / Palisades Interstate Parkway. Continue straight on Bridge Plaza South past several traffic lights. At the last light ("T" intersection), turn right onto Bigler St. At the stop sign, turn left (east) onto Main St., then keep in the right lane to bear right (south) at River Road. The southern park entrance will be on the left. Follow Henry Hudson Drive about one mile to the Ross Dock circle and follow signs.

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway (southbound): Take the last exit before the George Washington Bridge (Hudson Terrace). Turn left onto Hudson Terrace. Go south and at the second traffic light keep in the left lane to bear right onto Bigler St. At the stop sign, turn left (east) on Main St., then keep in the right lane to bear right (south) at River Road. The southern park entrance (Henry Hudson Drive) will be on the left. Follow Henry Hudson Drive about one mile to the Ross Dock circle and follow signs.

From U.S. Route 9W: At Main St., Fort Lee, turn east (right if headed north, left if headed south). Proceed downhill and bear right (south) at River Rd. The southern park entrance (Henry Hudson Drive) will be on the left. Follow Henry Hudson Drive about one mile to the Ross Dock circle and follow signs.

From New York City: Take the upper level of the George Washington Bridge to the first Fort Lee exit. Bear right and proceed down the ramp to the traffic light. Proceed south (right turn) to the second traffic light, then keep in the left lane to bear right onto Bigler St. At the stop sign, turn left (east) on Main St., then keep in the right lane to bear right (south) at River Road. The southern park entrance (Henry Hudson Drive) will be on the left. Follow Henry Hudson Drive about one mile to the Ross Dock circle and follow signs.

    WHAT TO DO:

Everyone knows the drill... we park at the park, get reunited and acquainted, admire our rides, chit-chat, take pictures, more chit-chat, cook up some BBQ (there are available grilles and picnic tables in the area), etc. Great day to bring your family and friends out too! Since this is a public park owned by NJ Parks & Recreation, it's wise not to do anything that provokes stupidity like burnouts, revving, tire screeching, or anything of that sort. Use common sense, and nobody will get red-flagged.

Here is the link for a listing of who and what cars are coming.

    Northeast Region Meet 10/3/04

Lets join in the fun and represent LOC with a strong showing before we hibernate for the winter.

    steviej

    i would like to go...

    but the problem is...

    i'm in BZ......

    haha

  8. What is the problem with the O2 sensor?

If your O2 sensor has a problem, then the ECU may be running the engine rich to prevent a lean condition. This would cause poor gas mileage. Maybe try resetting the ECU by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 30 minutes and then reconnecting.

My O2 sensor is expired......the Company tell me have to change New Sensore..

and last 2 weeks i have just change the NGK Iridium Spark Plugs...

i'll take off the Battery tonight then connect tomorrow....

  11. Why not try going to Mobil 1 5w30? Mobil is a higher regarded oil over Castrol synthetic or dino. Still a good brand of oil mind you. (I use to use Castrol syntech 5W 50 for my older GM products way back). If you look at the technical specifications on the Mobil 1 website, you won't find that much difference between the 5W30 & 5W40 oils......the '0' will flow slightly better than the '5' grade....but you would have to live at either the North or South pole for it to be any benefit. The '40' grade might be a tad too thick with the current milage you have on your IS. B)

    www.mobil1.com

I would like to Try the one Mobil with 5-30W

the problem is....here can't find it....

only have 0-40W........so........i change that one

so i have 68000miles...the motor oil i use now....the oil too thick??

i think i'll change back to Castrol 5-30W...........

    Thank U

  12. 0W40 is intended for extreme climate temperature variations. The 0W would be for very cold weather starting and circulation during warm-up. The 40W would be to lose less viscosity during extreme heat conditions of ambient temps and/or severe uses such as pulling a trailer. For normal use in most USA climates I'd stay with the oil recommeded by Lexus.

    Really...

    thank for information.....

    thankx so much.....

    i'll change to 5-30 soon...

  13. What does your owners manual & your oil cap state to use for engine oil? My 01 ES states 5W30 which I use Mobil 1 synthetic. I'm not sure how much of an advantage the 0W40 oil will be in the long run compared to the viscosity grade Lexus recommends. Why do you want to use that grade of oil & how many miles on your IS? B)

    i have 68000Miles on my 01 IS300...

is that OK for my IS 300??

    i'm using Mobil 0-40w.....

i thinking i'll change back to Castrol 5-30W drive hard....

i think the Castrol is the Best Motor Oil .......
