  1. Hello,

Anyone know the best prices online to get the G-Spider rims online. My local dealer is giving a price of about 250.00 per rim and wanted to find out if anyone has seen lower.

    Thanks,

    Dan

I got mine from the dealer for $250 each and he gave me $50 each trade-in on my pie pans

  2. The battery can not be replaced. You have to replace the complete sensor and they run about $125 each. Even after the replacement you have to have the sensor programed to your car by the dealer. I took one of the sensors apart to see if the battery could be replaced and its a special battery as well as spot welded to the connections. This is one area that I am very disappointed in Lexus that the battery can not be replaced. Battery life is about 5 years, so you are about to need more than one. Here is what I did: threw the sensors away, installed normal valve stems, bought a set of valve stem caps that turn red on low pressure from Walmart for $6, and disconnected the TPS light per one of the postings on this board. Yeah, the wife has to walk around the car once a week and look at the valve caps, but it saves $600 + on sensor replacement and I can use any rim that I want.

    Wow, thanks for the info

  3. My 02 TPMS light is on, but all four tires have good air pressure. The manual says that the most likely cause for the light is a low battery on one of the TPMS modules. Is there any way to determine which tire needs a battery without breaking down the tire from the wheel?

  4. Hello,

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy to get rims for a 2005 Lexus SC? If anyone wants to share some pictures to give me some ideas that would be great also.

    Thanks,

    Dan

Believe it or not, your local Lexus dealer may have some nice wheels for you. I have a 02 SC430 and recently bought the G-Spiders (a Lexus accessory) for mine.post-11917-1233166885_thumb.jpg

Very nice looking. What did they cost you?

They initially wanted $350 each, but I ended up getting them mounted with trade-in of my old wheels for $1250. Fully warrantied by Lexus.

I did look at a lot of nice after market wheels, but found the staff at the local tire stores completely lacking of the fitment knowledge to allow me to make a good decison. My local Lexus service manager is also a memeber of this forum which may have influenced my decison. somewhat

  6. My '02 SC430 truck lid will not stay open. It appears the "struts", or whatever they are called, do not have enough force (or whatever) to keep it up. Is there an adjustment or corrective action I can make to correct this problem? I'm 50 miles from a dealer and will get it fixed, but don't want to make the trip if not really needed.

Like Soleman, I bought a set on eBay for $55 last week and it took less than 10 minutes to install them on my 02 SC430. Yes, I did it myself and my wife claims I'm not "handy"...... Good Luck!

  7. Just purchased the Lexus G-Spider wheels for my 02 SC430, they look awesome.......the factory wheels just didn't cut it.

Something I found out in the process though, ask your dealer if they have any "take-offs"......wheels taken off new cars when the owner wants to go straight to an upgrade; my dealer had about 20 wheels ranging from the 06 model to the O2 models.

  8. The only times I have seen a similar VSC message on my 00 LS400 has been when a battery began to fail. The owners manual for my LS shows a VSC reset procedure which is used after replacing or reconnecting a battery. See the attachment. It is possible that the reset procedure is different on your SC or it could be some other problem.

In 18 1/2 years of driving V8 Lexus cars, I've never gotten more than four years and change from a battery.

Thanks. Dealer ran all the computer checks and came up with "isolated misfire". All sensors checked out asd did the battery. They say that I most likely got some bad gas.....not what you want to hear since you can't prove it to easily. Anyway, they put some formula 44 in it, ran it for a couple of days....no repeat of the incident.

  10. On eBay search for: LEXUS SC430 2002-2008 NEW CHROME WHEEL CENTER CAPS x4

I think that might be what you're looking for... also in black... and only $80... :)

Thanks, I saw them. I'm looking for the ones that match the alloy. Will check the dealer. Thanks again

  11. I just acquired an emaculate 02 SC 430 with 30K miles. A terrific car, but I the wheels are too bland with that disk cover over the spokes. I have seen some later model SC430s with a hub cover that follows the spokes and makes it look like a star wheel - they look like OEM. Anyone know where I can find a set and what they cost? Thanks in advance
