i have to say that the NAV on the Lexus rally blows compared to the Nuvi
no matter if I select Quick or Short, it always want to put you onto the highway.
My Nuvi always picks the best possible routes, I don't understand why the Lexus can't.
For example, yesterday I missed a turn due to the lack of intuitiveness of the Lexus nav and instead of telling me to make a u-turn,
it reroutes me around the friggin mountain to the otherside. I thought maybe it's a new route I didn't know about, it took an extra 5 minutes.
The Nuvi would've told me to make a u-turn.
What's the deal?
It also doesn't tell me that it's rerouting.
Spending over 2K on a NAV that performs worse than my 200 NUvi is crap and yet when you buy a new car, it's always bundled together with other stuff you want.
I'm sure many others agree.
Sorry for the digression.
I guess that since you are not driving a 2010 model (your profile says RX300) you're not really able to make an informed comparison regarding the current system and your "NUvi." I suspect the 2010 Nav system is considerably improved over a system offered in a car approaching perhaps 10 years old.
The new one is just as poor. There are many areas that the system will not navigate to. It is incredible that a $2000. system does not have as good a database as a simple handheld unit from WalMart. Lexus should be ashamed to offer such a poor product.
