  1. I have a 2006 lx470 with 39500 miles and I love it. I decided on it over a same priced 2008 GX even though the GX has better MPG, more features, and is more compact.

I originally looked at a 2003 LX, but quickly discovered that it lacked some features I knew I would want like Bluetooth, rear backup camera, and a few other minor things, so I looked at an '04 and then worked myself up to a 2006 because of the engine and horsepower improvement. I do a lot of off-road so I was willing to forgo MPG to have the land cruiser off-road capabilities. I also did not like the swing gate on the GX. I almost could not get over this because I knew how I would use the tailgate at campsites and events.

As the previous poster stated the decision is based on how you will use the vehicle and what are your acceptable tradeoffs. With Lexus I have always found that the hidden features of the car are almost more impressive than the ones in the brochures

I would also recommend that you look at a certified pre-owned. I am a very cheap person and I hate the thought of paying extra for something I might never use, but Lexus is so thourgh with the certified cars that I could tell an immediate difference between the one I bought and the other ones I drove that were not certified.
