My concern is keeping close to the ride of the factory struts. I notice my rear does bottom out with a load in the car and it makes noise going over bumps. I wont be doing the work, it will be done in a shop.
Thanx

Hi
I have a 95 ES300 with about 120k miles. I need to put about $3000 into putting the car back in top shape. The engine and trans seems to be in good shape, but I need rear struts and a couple of bolts are broken on my front struts. The drivers seat foam needs to be redone along with a few other things. I'd buy a new car, but I cant seem to fall in love with anything in my price range (under $30K).
My questions:
Since factory struts would run me over $1100 and factory rears struts about $500, are there any non factory struts that would give me close to the same ride as factory?
I dont yet need struts for the front, can I just replace the broken front bolts or does it cost almost the same to just replace the front struts?
At any rate, I dont plan on keeping the car if I can find something new I want to buy, but I'll probably wait till next year.
Any suggestions and ideas are appreciated, Thanx

I would think it is a pop off. Did you try?
I finally talked to my repair shop about it and yes it is a pop off. I'm glad I did get an answer, because it's an easy pop off that is a simple pull on the tip, but if you go in to fa with your tool, you will break the cover.

In fact, seeing a seat repair shop is a good advice, you can 'feel' the differences in foam used.
Usually, Polyfoam is used in seat upholstry. It comes in 'closed-' and 'open cell' density formats. You can lookup the differences, where 'open cell' provides more comfort and 'closed cell' more firmness and upholding it's profile much longer.
I suggest you don't choose the original stuff (I suspect open cell polyfoam), but select a suitable polyfoam that's more firm. It has also firmness grades.
Thanx for the info.

I really like they board and I think you've done a fantastic job with it, but I've posted two questions in the last few weeks and I've yet to get one reply to either.
I hate wasting my time waiting for nothing.

I have a 95 ES300 and the drivers seat is loosing it's shape and support from age and use. I've tried several kinds of padding to add to the inside of the seat, but I still feel the lumbar support very hard against my back.
I thought I would try adding the original cushion padding between the flat lumbar support and my back. Does anyone know the name and where I might find the original cushion material?
Thanx, Nick

Hi
I saw the other posts on removing and repairing the driver side sunvisor, but I'm not sure how to remove the plastic cover to get to the screws underneath. Is the cover popoff or slide away from the other part? Is there a push in that hold the cover on?
Thanx,

One of my repair guys uses KYB struts. I read a post on the board, one guy wasnt real happy with the stiffer feel of the KYB. Anyone else have experience with KYB on his Lexus?
I know they have the standard and the more expensive adjustable gas KYB's, so please state which struts you have.
Thanx
