  1. The factory amp is NOT underneath the passenger seat, trust me I just looked on Monday. The only thing under the passenger seat is the subwoofer, thats it, just the speaker. I have been going through this forum now for 3 days straight and it seems that the factory amp is behind the back seats almost by where the spare tire is, but closer to the back seats. The details are on this forum, i just can't remember what page.

This might be what you are looking for: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37810

    Good luck.

Yes that is excactly what I was looking for, this link needs to be pinned, it seems that a lot of people are looking for the amp in the 99-03 RX's.

  2. 2000 RX300.

    Purchased March '08.

From what the dealer told me I am the second owner.

Quite a few miles on it when I bought it, but the dealer had all the service records. Seemed like a very nice car, in good condition. Currently almost 200k miles on it! Still running just fine. (mostly highway miles going on trips to Cali, Vegas, and Yellowstone a few times)

    Problems:

Clock kept resetting to 1:00 took it to the Lexus dealership they told me it was a bad module and they would have to replace it at a cost of over $600. I told them forget it, its just a clock. Next day called my mechanic and he said to buy a new battery so i did problem fixed. The funny thing is that Lexus said they checked the battery. Never will I go to a Lexus dealership again.

Pinched exhaust resulting in an exhaust leak after "high centering" while driving through Bryce Canyon in Utah. Around $100 bucks to fix at a local exhaust shop.

There is a noise coming from my back seats, its like the back seat is squeaking, not sure where exactly its coming from.

But really these are very small problems and haven't really had an effect on how I love driving this car. It's great for road trips (really comfortable and storage space is pretty good).

Plans to retrofit HID projectors, repaint to be one solid color, want the pebble beach edition rims from a RX330.

I'm 25 married and pay $55 bucks a month for insurance.

  3. I know this is old, but this didn't work for me. Is there anything else that might work? Mine only has locks on the drivers and passengers side. I don't think they make key holes on the back sides.

Mitch- I think he meant the drivers and passengers (sides) and rear gate (hatch). Have you tried what was posted 2 years ago on all of those 3 doors? Hard to imagine that it wouldn't work on any of them unless the key has worn that much since it was last used in any of the doors (hard to imagine the key would ever wear that much anyway).

I tried it on the drivers side and it didn't work, but if I use my valet key it opens just fine.

  4. A couple of thoughts. If you are like us, you rarely used the actual key, relying instead on the key fob to unlock the car. If so, it is possible that dirt, corrosion or other "stuff" has caused the lock cylinder to jam up. Here is what I would do: take your favorite spray liquid, whether it is WD40, silicone, or other lubricant and stick the little straw-type extension into the lock cyliner. Give a liberal spray, moving the straw in all quadrants. Then, put a heavy drop of oil on your key and insert it into the lock cylinder. You may be able to unstick your lock if that is the problem. I spray all of my lock cylinders with WD40 at least twice a year to preclude such a problem. I started doing this when I had a similar issue with the lock not working properly.

Is this ALL the doors, side and back?

  6. I don't know if this will be helpful considering how old this post is, but I have replaced my fog lights a couple times without even taking anything out. I just stuck my hand down there, it took some time the first time i did it, but no reason to take everything apart. I may have taken the window washer fluid spout off. I can't remember.
