  1. Hello cduluk

I feel sorry for your car. I just read the whole topic. I suggest keeping contacting the manager on daily basis and when he gives you a deadline, keep calling him every 10 minutes until you speak with him. Inform him that you want a brand new radio with no scratches. They replaced the parts in the first time and this is a direct acknowledgment and recognition that it's their fault. You can take them to the court with a great evidence. Don't actually go to court at this stage but you can use this to push toward replacing the radio immediately (yes immediately) and to replace any other part.

  2. I made two new keys at a local workshop for 06 RX400h (Valet & remote key). The valet works fine, but the keys maker was not able to program the remote key. The remote opens and runs the car, but the remote doesn't work.

After that, the security light indicator flashes as follows:

    1. When the car is locked, the light indicator is always on.

    2. When the car is moving, the light indicator lights twice, then waits 1 sec, and then lights twice again and so on. It never stops flickering while the car is moving.

The security system is working fine. I tried to open the window, close doors and lock the car. Then open the door from inside, and the alarm system works fine. I don't find anything that is not working properly in the car, only the light indicator.

I went to Lexus dealership, he reset the error code related to the immobilizer, but the secuiryt light is still flashes as described above and not as normal.

All the keys make the security light flashes incorrectly.

    Any body can help?

  3. Thanks all for the detailed clarification. I just would like to add that this behavior might occur when slightly pressing the brake pedal. Try pressing it more firmly (maybe half way or something like this) at 30 or 40 Km and see if the car accelerates. It should not.... which means it's just the braking experience.

In all cases, if you are not comfortable with the brakes, you can check with the dealership.

P.S: execuse me if my posts include any language errors...

  4. 2. When the lights at Auto, and after turning off the car at night, the headlights stay on for 30 seconds, is it possible to turn them off immediatly?

There may be a way to change this setting via the dealership or otherwise; however, if you want a quick fix, I have found that if I push the panic (lock) button a second time, it turns the headlights off immediately rather than waiting the 30 seconds

Many thanks for the useful post. I tried it and it works fine. I don't want to bother my neighbours with the lights when I come home late.

  5. Is it safe to put the vehicle into neutral while in motion?

If I have to stop the vehicle for 10 or 20 seconds, is it better to put it in Neutral or keep it at Drive?

I was with a friend few days ago, we had to stop for 20 seconds at a traffic light, and I put it at Neutral, I moved the car for less than 1 meter at Neutral, my friend mentioned this is not correct and it should be kept at "D" while moving... what do you think?

  6. Thanks lemon for the useful info. Can you please help in providing the steps to change the following settings (if possible):

    1. Turn off the day lights

    2. When the lights at Auto, and after turning off the car at night, the headlights stay on for 30 seconds, is it possible to turn them off immediatly?

    3. Pressing the unlonk button on the remote to open all the doors, currently it opens only the driver door and I have to press it twice to unlock all doors.

I know that these settings can be changed at the dealership, but each setting is priced at certain price. For example the first option costs $100

  7. I'm gonna guess that you can. All the changes are cosmetic.

As long as you have the new bumper, new headlights, new grille and new taillights i'm sure you can do the swap.

    thanks cduluk for your reply

but i need a confirmation because i well order the parts from USA i am from Saudi Arabia and the dealer

here does not have the hybrid GS so i cant buy it from my country

so guys any one can help me by speaking with one of the dealer there and confirm it???

    thanks

Hello GS-lover. Do you have hybrid in KSA? How is the Lexus dealership?

I'm from Jordan, the hybrids are spreading fast here as there are no customs fees, but the dealership is really bad and spareparts are very expensive.

  8. I hate to sound like a broken record, but IF you have a 2006 and IF you have ever disconnected, replaced or run your 12 volt battery below 7 volts, you have to have the Idle Speed Control Learning Procedure done.

    See here

You can take it to the dealer, or try the DIY method, which I did and it worked like a charm. This was summer just past, and my mileage went from about 10 l/100km to 8 l/100km (dunno what that is in US MPG).

However, I will concede that once the cold weather arrived (in conjunction with the winter gas, which also negatively affects mileage) my mileage has crept up to about 9.6 l/100km.

So if you do the ISC learning procedure, you may not experience a dramatic increase in mileage because of the cold. However, you may see an increase in that 26mpg you were getting in the summer.

Other's who have done the ISC learning procedure have also noticed an increase in mileage. Another side benefit is you will hear less 'clunking/rattling' from the transmission while the vehicle is parked and idling when you first start it (that clunking/rattling noise is normal by the way).

Thanks for the post. I just bought 2006 RX400h last week and drove it for 250 miles. Average was 23 mpg (10.23 l/100 km) and I will try the learning procedure soon to check the difference in efficiency. Weather here is almost summer (temperature is 16-25 celsius degrees). Thanks for the procedure.
