  1. I am experiencing a problem with the CD player in my '04 RX330. Intermittently when I select a CD or try to eject and load CD's the unit freezes and the message 'Error Code 4' appears on the radio screen. Does anyone know what the problem could be and how it can be corrected?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

I have the same issue with my 2004 RX330. The CD's will load but will not eject. Looking forward to knowing what this is all about.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Folks,

I have some minor rust spots on both rear Qpanels on my 99 RX300. I want to HALT the rust from advancing. I know the drill, once rust starts...yada yada...but there are some smart people out there who have hopefully come about a solution for this. What say you!??? :)

    Thanks for any input!

    :(

I too have rust starting on the rear Q-Panels between the lower fascia and the Q-Panel. The paint is bubbling which indicates rust under the surface. Help!

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

  3. We bought an '04 RX330 FWD 18" wheels, black on tan interior w/birds eye wood trim. We bought it in feb'05 w/17K on it and now have 25k.

    1. Dash rattle. (Full TSB performed were they take off the dash and insulate the mounting clips. solved the problem)

    2. Both visors replaced due to defect in flip up motion of vanity mirror.

    3. Rubber exhaust hanger broken. (replaced by dealer)

    4. Brake recall performed (switch changed by dealer)

    5. Cup holder cover mechanism was sticking. (unstuck by dealer)

    6. Injector ticking (yet to be serviced)

    7. Hesitation (yet to be serviced)

    8. Passenger side wind noise i think (yet to be serviced).

All service and work done at Lexus of Bossier City LA

I too have a 2004 RX330 with performance package. I have a rattle from the dash as well that is driving me nuts. I also have a bit of a ticking sound at idle and wonder if that is the injector as well. Otherwise, I love the car!

  4. I have the Mark Levenson sound system in my 2004 RX330. With one CD already loaded into the CD player, I loaded a second CD only to register a "ERROR 4" message. Now I cannot play or eject either CD. Any suggestions?

You probably already know this, but homemade CDs with paper labels often get jammed in the player and have to be removed. Expensive proposition from the dealer.

Good point. Both CD's were purchased in a store with standard labeling.

  5. If you have not been to the tire rack web site you should. 10's 05 100s of thousands of people have ranked every tire you cab imagine. It's all in a manipulatable srpead sheet. Make sure you adjust for your to preferences (I.E. wet cornering, longevity, etc.)

    Regards, pk

Thanks. Yes, I regularly consult the www.tirerack.com website. This is how I came to the decision to trust the YokoHama YK250 performance tires.

    Regards,

We are talking the RX330 here right? An SUV with only 210hp designed for a quite luxury ride right? So why would you be looking for a harsh riding, noisy, low tread life tire? Seems to be not a very logical choice for a tire type for an RX.

Upon further review, my RX330 with performance package is now sporting a new set of Yokohama YK520 tires. So far, they do not feel harsh nor do they seem louder than the previous Michelin tires. I have no regrets.

  7. I have a 2004 RX330 with performance package requiring 235/55-18 tires. The current Michelin tires are in need of replacement. I am seriously considering Yokohama YK520 tires as I have had good performance from Yokohama tires on a number of vehicles including my 2001 RX300. The YK250 tire seems to be a good blend of value and performance. Any comments?

  8. This is excellent advice. I was not aware of the VAIS option. My RX330 has navigation and Mark Levinson sound system and I would welcome an integrated system whereby an external mount is not needed. I understand that the VAIS system works with the current radio... Is this correct and where do I go to get the system installed?

VAIS seems to be the industry leader in providing integrated sat radio solutions for 2001-up Lexus vehicles without the need for external devices mounted on a bracket. VAIS solutions are probably more expensive than the Best Buy route but I tend to cring when I think about someone at Best Buy touching a car.

VAIS has integrated XM solutions for 2004 RX330's with and without navigation. Check them out: http://www.vaistech.com

VAIS solutions are "plug and play". Installing a VAIS solution likely involves pulling the radio out of the center stack but that is usually pretty easy to do on just about any vehicle made by Toyota.

If you want to go the external sat radio route, Pro-Fit has three different brackets for the 04 RX330: http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/

I've used Pro-Fit brackets to install phone cradles and portable GPS devices in both our 98 Camry and 00 LS400. Installing a bracket does not require putting visible holes in your dash -- the mounting holes and screws are always hidden.

Here are some instructions for mounting a a Pro.Fit Legend bracket in an 04 RX330 which also show how to remove the radio: http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/Adobe/MV-50-03-L-p1.pdf

  9. I am looking to install an XM radio into to my 2004 RX330. Best Buy tells me to purchase a mounting bracket from www.bracketron.com and then bring it to the store for installation. Is this the best thing to do? Suggestions?

  10. The good news is I just purchased a 2004 RX330 with the performance package and navigation. The bad news is, the navigation package is version 3.1. Via ebay, I notice the latest released version is 9.1 and question if it would be more cost effective to update to the predecessor to 9.1. Also, has anyone physically performed the upgrade by following instructions on this forum? Any caveats?
